A Bottle Rum Empty A Bottle Rum

Post by Rika Fri Oct 14, 2016 10:20 pm

Shallow Brook pub was a humble establishment that offered food and drink to the weary traveler or worker along with the hungry family. It was a place of good nature laughs and warmth, along with the occasional argument spattered here or there. The pub had a cozy glow and scents of food prepared with love and care. There was nothing unusual or special about this place, but that did not mean it did not see its share of unusual guests.

For example, the nicely toned and somewhat petite figure that came in the pub dressed in a blue dress that was tailored to fit up top, but also to easily flow and brush curves starting at the hip was indeed something strange for all who beheld it. The figure was a beauty no doubt about that. The make up done in such a way that instead of coming off as fake, it actually enhanced the features of the pretty face there. The blonde hair was allowed to flow loose in luscious waves that flowed over the shoulder and ended at the waist in the back and there was a light attractive sway to the hips of the one who walked amongst the people in the pub as if they owned the place. An air of playful confidence that should’ve naturally caught the eye was indeed there and while it did its job well to draw eyes to the figure, the reason some stared so much was because most were quite perplexed with this beauty. On one hand, it did appear to be a very confident woman well dressed and knowing what she was doing, but on the other some assets were missing from this being namely breasts which made some of the male gawkers highly confused when they saw flatness rather than some sign of curve there.

Yet the movements, actions, and even the way it spoke when it did make eye contact with someone seemed feminine enough, making the uncertainty only grow for onlookers. However, this lone creature did not care about stares as it easily swayed through the crowds and upon finding an empty booth that overlooked the area, the being would slide in easily situating itself in an elegant fashion as it waited for the waiter to come around. When asked what it wanted, the being opted for rum, but not just any ordinary rum. No it wanted one with a bit of sweetness to it and that went down easily. The being didn’t have a brand to call out, but the waiter seemed want to impress and so went to retrieve said rum. Upon retrieving the item, he would bring it back and poured the strange lady a glass. He probably would’ve taken the bottle back, but after a sample taste the lady requested he leave the bottle with her, so not fighting a customer he did just that. He left the mostly full bottle of rum with the woman and let her be.

And so it was here that one would find, the strange being known as Rika. Dolled up for no one, but himself in a booth in a pub with a bottle of rum all by his lonesome, but why was the blonde here and alone to begin with? A mystery that did not seemed to be getting an answer anytime soon as the blonde filled his glass a bit more and began to sip on the rum as he watched the crowds.

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Sharaku Sat Oct 15, 2016 10:45 am

Places like this....

They weren’t something Sharaku was normally too keen on visiting, although the fact that this particular one wasn’t huge and unbelievably crowded did make it slightly less detestable to consider. In general, however, he was hardly a fan of bustling establishments of any kind, and would rather either get a drink and sit with it at home, or something more akin to that. Public bars and pubs were a special kind of pain to deal with after all. So, in light of that, why would he have come to one tonight...? A big question, with a currently unknown answer. Maybe it was because he didn’t have a different option...or perhaps the happenings from earlier that day really messed him up. Who knew? Did it even really matter in the end...?

One thing was for certain, unusual guests would prove to be a bit more common during this particular evening, whether that was about to be a good thing or not. Just like the blonde before, the next newcomer would too manage to draw a good deal of attention at first. Seemingly dressed purely in black, sporting black pants and a black leather jacket, the tall man certainly gave off a fairly strong vibe. Which was only emphasized by his hair styled in a somewhat messy, spiky way, alongside a slightly wider than usual ponytail to keep the rest of it in check, topped off with golden hoop earrings. He could very easily give off a sort of a bad boy look the way he was currently dressed, and perhaps even seem fairly charming, although coupled with a good dose of appearing intimidating as well. Thus, he certainly gained plenty glances, but most people wouldn’t last too long unless they had enough confidence to not want to back down.

What exactly was he here for would remain a question for a while longer, as he didn’t make a move to sit down anywhere just yet, simply scanning the crowd with his arms crossed over his chest. He definitely took notice of the odd one in a blue dress, and his glance did linger for a moment, but whether he did recognize the blonde or not was uncertain. If he did, he didn’t appear to show that just yet, for whatever reason. Maybe he wanted some more time to scope out the entire situation...?

‘’Hm…’’

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Rika Sat Oct 15, 2016 3:40 pm

The blonde in a blue dress would continue to drink its drink quite relaxed in the booth as it watched the people float by like butterflies in the field. People were complex things that the deceiving beauty liked to study and pick apart. While the blonde did not always understand the way people worked, it did get a kick out of watching them react to itself and one another when the game was played nicely that is. When the game started hitting beneath the belt or in other sore spots, the being found it less enjoyable and more depressing, but luckily today was not one of those days.

Outside of a very rough time with a certain little kid back home, the being’s day had gone by more or less okay. Though the day became questionable when his other half came back from a meeting more miffed than usual. Rika never did get fully to the bottom of why the darker haired male was so cranky, but he figured it had something to do with the meeting with Sharaku. He had asked about that and got a rather heated “Can it!” before the other had locked himself in his room. Rude, but the blonde was quite used to this. Besides it wasn’t like his twin could hold the secret forever. In the end, they did have become one again and that in turn would force whatever information either side had to be shared regardless of desires not share in the first place.

Not too bothered by that, Rika was finally free of Eva so instead of staying around the house and potentially getting sacked into doing something else, he decided to go out and do what he wanted to do. In this case, simply go out, be pretty, and have a good time over drinks. Unlike before he did not take his usual art tools with him since he was probably going to be too sloshed to focus on that much by the end and the fact that he was going alone didn't bother him. No that just meant he could have even more drinks and fun without the worry of sharing.

The whole point of this outing was to simply float in that state of loopiness that happened when one got drunk or tipsy. He hadn’t planned on making himself extremely sick, just sick enough to have fun you know? It wasn't bad to do that from time to time no? Odd logic aside though, the blonde’s plan was going just fine until a rather striking figure came into the pub.

Now there were plenty of men about to eye, but this one was top of the line in the catch department and unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) for the taller male, he already had stepped into a net unintentionally by being in the same area with the blonde. You see, while Rika could be well behaved and leave most alone, when he recognized someone or had an interest in them, he just couldn’t resist the urge to bother them. Call it being a pest if you want, but to Rika it was just friendly socializing.

That is why as the man looked around and for a few moments focused on the being in blue, he would find the blonde watching him as he sat with his elbows on the table and his hands folded under his chin, his typically playful grin in place as he studied this beauty of a man. Then deciding to see what would happen, Rika would shift a bit so that he was leaning on his right hand as he used his freed left hand to beckon the other over with few elegant bends of the index finger.

The action was feminine and to a casual on looker it would appear that the beauty had just found her date or victim for the night. Though Rika wondered if the other would get the message or if he would actually have to do something a bit more bold. He did remember the last time, he had tried something subtle the other had missed the cue. He wondered if this time around would be the same. Hehehe. Guess he would just have to wait and see.

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Sharaku Sat Oct 15, 2016 4:26 pm

The unfolding situation was hardly what Sharaku had made plans for, that was for sure. He rarely ever went out in this manner to begin with, which made meeting people he was already acquainted with at such places that much rarer. In fact, he didn’t think this has ever happened to him before at all. Then again, did it make much of a difference whether he was surrounded by strangers or by 99% of strangers and one person he had spoken to at least once in the past? In most cases, not really, unless the person inquestion was special in some way. Considering that he barely even held a conversation with Rika that one time they met face to face, as the other half had been more assertive, it was very much almost like they were still strangers to an extent. And he wasn’t even going to speculate just how did meeting them as one impact this whole thing either. Because he would never figure it out on his own, or so he would assume for now.

Random details aside, there was a more pressing matter to attend to for the moment. As in, did he actually want to involve himself with the blonde or not? It was a tricky one to consider, for he had already gone through a bumpy ride with the dark-haired one not so long ago on the same day. Would this go any better or not? Sadly, that was a question which could only be answered by giving it a try. Speaking of which, yes, he could be rather oblivious to certain gestures, but that did not apply to all of them. Back at school, he was aware of what the given gesture could have meant, but he definitely didn’t comprehend as to why would one want him to randomly perform that kind of action, which naturally prompted him to ask first instead of potentially doing something uncalled for. This current one? Well, he would say that this was certainly far more straightforward and obvious, therefore it wasn’t as easy to get confused by the implications given.

That said, he would at first raise an eyebrow at Rika, seemingly taking his time to choose a response as he did not make any actual move for a few prolonged moments. He appeared to have a somewhat focused, thoughtful expression on his face during the time period, as if he was debating over something very seriously for whatever reason. Eventually, he did make some sort of decision though, as he dropped his arms to his sides casually, putting on a faint smirk as he strode over to the seated blonde. For now, he would opt to simply stand in front of the oddly dressed guy rather than anything else, eyeing his unexpected company mysteriously.

''Hey.''

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Rika Sat Oct 15, 2016 8:07 pm

Well, the other did see his gesture, the movement of his eyebrow was enough proof of that; however the other sure did take his sweet time thinking about coming over, didn’t he? Oh so he was being a tease was he? How amusing. Well, Rika could play that game too and so would not move from his seat as he watched the other do his thinking with an amused expression on his face as his free hand easily slipped back under his chin as he watched and waited. To a casual on looker this may seem like typical play between a male and female in such situations were one tries to flirt and what not; however, what the casual viewer wouldn’t know was that this game was far different than that. The reason Rika watched the other so closely was simply to see what he would do and also to gauge how much work he would need to actually do to engage with the other. After all, he simply could not let him be now that he saw the other and knew he had taken note of him. As for being ignored after that fact, well that was not acceptable either. He wouldn't get away unless he waved or said hello. The blonde would accept no less.

it was a bad trait of the blonde, but he was what he was and he did not like what he found to be intriguing or fun running away from him. It would take actual bites and scratches to get the message through his head that he simply could not do that since with this one no rules had been made.

The pair had technically meet twice before. Once at the school and once when he happened to be whole; however, while both situations were nice, they never did solidify rules for the blonde because in the end the encounters didn't have situations where clear rules were made. Sure he could remember some things from each encounters that could aid in a situation, but those things were not enough to count as solid rulings or actually understanding the other, so this rather peculiar meeting would be a learning session for them both provided the other actually came over.

The taller male stretched out the wait long enough to make Rika actually drop his hands in a casual fashion to the table. He would grip the edge slightly as well cared for and neatly polished black nails tapped lightly across the table surface. It was a sign that if the other didn’t come to a decision soon, the blonde would make the a decision for him; however, before Rika could make the move. The other would settle on a choice and wearing a faint smirk he would come over.

Quite pleased, Rika easily leaned back in his seat as his legs crossed under the table and one hand dropped to his lap as the other easily went playing with a strand of his hair. He would hear the greeting and give the other an easy smile full of amusement and mischief making it hard to tell what he was thinking as he watched the other with doll like eyes.

“Well, well. Look who actually decided to not make me work hard today,” he would begin in laid back and somewhat husky tones that were very different from the way he spoke in the library. It made him indeed sound like a woman if one didn’t have a careful ear or eye; however, he wasn’t using this to deceive as he simply went along with his mood for the moment. “It’s been a while, Mr. Sharaku. Why not take a seat and chat a bit? We even has some rum here to share if you’re interested.”

Though he could probably finish the bottle off himself. Regardless of that though his offer would remain kind and open to the other. And why would it be different? After all, he hadn’t called him over for nothing you know. He was interested in familiar company rather than random strangers. Besides wouldn’t this be a bit easier even if they didn’t know each other well? Wouldn’t knowing a face make someone a tad bit more comfortable in these sorts of situations rather than knowing none? And didn't it beat being alone? A curiosity he let wander about as he watched the other with steady golden orbs. Always watching and waiting.

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Sharaku Sun Oct 16, 2016 10:57 am

Unlike the blonde, Sharaku wasn’t necessarily all that pleased about the way the situation was turning out. Yes, he did accept the proposition, but not because he was excited about it or anything like that. He wasn’t the type to get hooked onto something very easily, and it would take more than this to make him actually enjoy himself to the point where he would willingly admit to it. Still, going along with this was currently the most favorable choice he could see, as he didn’t think trying to chat with a complete stranger would have gone any better. And while he would have been content to sit by himself for the most part, he wasn’t sure how long would he manage without having someone interrupt him anyway.

Utterly unaffected by the gestures and whatnot being presented, he would only snort lightly at the comment he received. ‘’Would you really call putting in a bit more effort hard work?’’, he would poke slightly at first, but decide to turn to a more smooth act right afterwards, even though it would have a tinge of joking in it still. ‘’I’m pretty sure milady wouldn’t break her nails even if she had to be a bit more proactive.’’ Yes, he was going there. For what reason, one could only speculate right now. It would be up to the other to take that as he would.

That said, he would eye the offered drink when the blonde spoke up again. He wasn’t much of an alcohol expert in the first place, but he could still assume that this wasn’t something very weak. Which was nice, but he was hardly a big fan of getting himself plastered for no real reason. He would purse his lips slightly as he decided to at least take the offer to sit, while still thinking about the rest. After a few moments, he would just give the other a questioning glance. ‘’What would I stand to gain from doing that? Offering to get your company drunk sounds like an odd thing to open up with.’’ Besides, chatting can go out of control pretty easily when the participants aren’t exactly sober anymore, and it made him wonder just what the guy had in mind to begin with. After all, even if he refused to drink, he doubted the blonde would stop himself, which could still make this awkward in time, and probably even more so than if both of them were woozy.

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Rika Mon Oct 17, 2016 6:24 am

“Oh, it could be considering who’ve we decided to play with today,” the blonde would begin the smile never leaving his face. It was true that he did not know the man well, but at the same he had not forgotten the way he had behaved or how it felt dealing with him when they had met earlier this morning for that odd chat. This one was tricky and yet the blonde was not afraid of him or concerned. If he had been, then he wouldn’t have bothered to try and call him over. That aside thought, it looked like the other was taking a different method with his playing, a method that might’ve gotten some in a different boat upset, but Rika?

He would chuckle lightly as he shifted in his seat and stretched out both to either side of the glass of rum as he held up his fingers so that he could view his well cared for fingernails. “That is quite true, but at the same time we cannot be taking any such risk. You know, keeping up such nails is a task all its own. Wouldn’t want that precious time getting them this way to go to waste now would we, darling?” the blonde would respond back easily enough his voice remaining feminine as he finished it all off with a playful wink. Oh yes, he could play, but one had to wonder if the blonde really just bounced off of what he heard or if their was something more behind the play. It was a mystery for sure and one that would not be solved by simply observing the situation. That aside though, the blonde would eventually drop his hands on the table as the playfulness was reeled in a bit as he looked over at the other with an elegant tilt of the head.

“Are you upset that we didn’t do something more proactive?” He hadn’t missed the fact that the words "effort" and "proactive" had been brought up right behind each other. While it could’ve just been coincidental word choice, he was curious why the other had made such a comment to begin with. You don’t exactly start conversations off with pokes at effort now, did you?

That aside, Rika would see him eye the offered drink and then after a moment of thought seem to perhaps disapprove of the idea if the way he held his mouth was anything to go by. Whatever was on his mind would remain a mystery and something Rika didn’t pry too much into as he moved to grab his glass of rum once more. He would take a sip of it as the other sat down and after a moment asked him a question.

“Gain?” Rika would repeat as he paused the hand that held the glass mid-way to his lips, his face becoming surprisingly devoid of expression as he blinked a bit as he processed that. What was he to gain? What a peculiar thing to ask to a simple offer to a drink and that comment afterwards? Rika would place the glass down gently before leaning slightly on the table as he looked over at the other. “We didn’t realize we were playing an sort of game to gain anything to begin with. It was simply a curtsy offer really since you were so kind to join us. We were not offering to get you drunk or anything like that. After all, you’re your own person. If you can’t moderate how much you drink then that is your problem. Just don’t expect me to clean up your messes,” the blonde would say before shifting again to take another sip of his drink.

The blonde was going to do what he was going to do and the other was free to do the same. While his own intent was indeed to get drunk to a degree, he hadn’t made his offer to the other to try anything sly. Though since the other had decided to word it that way…

Placing the drink down once more, Rika’s eyes would drift back to the taller male as a smirk appeared on his lips. “Are you afraid of drinking? Afraid of what might happen to your mind if you did take such an offer?” Was that a pry or a challenge? It was hard to say as the blonde watched the other with that smirk. He found it odd that the man questioned the situation when a simple "yes" or "no thank" would've sealed the deal and saved the man from wherever this was going. Ah well. The man had spoken his piece and now he would have to deal with whatever came at him from choosing to interact with the being.

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Sharaku Mon Oct 17, 2016 6:41 pm

Hm? Was that really so? Assuming so quickly that he’d be a hard target to deal with? Well, perhaps he wasn’t all that easy by typical standards, but he wasn’t sure what to think about the fact that the other was kind of just admitting to believing that right into his face like that. He would raise an eyebrow slightly, giving the other an inquiring look. ‘’Are you implying I’m being difficult?’’ He wasn’t trying to accuse the other specifically, but he did wonder what was on the blonde’s mind when he was letting that hang in the air quite blatantly.

On a different note however…’’My poor feelings. It seems nails are more important than me after all.’’, he would toss back in a mock jest. Whether it was one hundred percent just a joke or he did care about the fact in some way was unknown, but regardless of his view on the matter, what was being said wasn’t going to change, was it? Usually, he was largely unconcerned about people talking in a manner that could sound like they didn’t think highly enough of him, but he did keep it in mind either way. Besides, as calm as he tended to be, he did have feelings too, okay? Sadly, he was far from being certain about the blonde just yet. The guy was quite hard to figure out when it came to the real meaning of the things he did and said. He did kind of hope he wouldn’t have to listen to comments that could paint him out in a less favorable way too much though. He could bite pretty hard when a certain limit was broken. And while jokes are a thing…with people who are still more so on the stranger side, you cannot be sure of their true intentions. Therefore, he would be naturally a bit watchful when he didn’t know what to truly expect just yet.

His pondering soon got shot down by an additional question however, and he would frown momentarily. No, he wasn’t upset. At least…he wasn’t aware of being so. This was something he found hard. Yes, he could kind of recognize when something was rubbing him the wrong way, but to say whether he was honestly upset or whether it was just a passing grace? He would never know for sure, until the other party pushed him far enough that he would indeed feel about something strongly enough to be able to state his stance firmly. It was very easy for him to seem like he was dissatisfied, but that was in a way his natural front, and it didn’t always mean he was having a problem with everything for real. As in, real enough to need to be addressed ASAP. Eventually, he would just shake his head. ‘’No, I am not. To be honest, I’m not sure how much I care about it in the first place. I’m used to sticking to myself, and having people chasing me and fawning over me all the time would actually be way more upsetting than getting ignored for the most part.’’ The right kind of attention? Yes, he would take that, but even then, he held a certain distaste for when people took it overboard simply because they could.

Regardless, he would eventually move onto sitting down, as the conversation took a slightly different turn. He would close his eyes for a bit after hearing the answer, giving a mild sigh before opening them again to focus on the blonde in a somewhat intense stare. ‘’Not a game. I’m simply interested in knowing what am I signing myself up for here. How I handle my drinks is my problem, yes, but I think I am eligible to at least ask about where this is meant to head. It’s not every day that I walk in somewhere and get immediately casually invited to drink alcohol with someone.’’ Perhaps he was going a bit in depth with this, yes, but he would rather be a bit more cautious at the beginning, instead of later regretting doing something without giving it a moment of thought. This could turn out so many ways, and some of them were basically bound to be weird. He was not the type to enjoy drinking himself stupid on the fly in the company of people he wasn’t very close with yet, and even if he did not drink now, he would still likely end up dealing with the blonde feeling the effects sooner or later which is not a much better option either.

This evening was sure proving to be full of flaming matches being held pretty close to the fuel though. Maybe it was simply Rika’s style, or maybe it was a combination of that and Sharaku actually being somewhat frustrated and tense over the events that happened before this one. Whichever of the two was more correct, it meant that he wasn’t very pleased about being hit over the head with statements like that. The other better employ some sense of caution soon, or this could turn out to be less of a friendly and chill hang out rather fast. While he was very capable of jesting here and there, some topics are just tricky and probably shouldn’t be so eagerly poked at as early as that. Too fast. He did not take kindly to being pointed at like that without any sort of build up and all, which would at least help ease into it being a funny sort of exchange.

He would narrow his eyes slightly, giving the other a rather indignant sort of expression. ‘’My mind is just fine, thank you. To be honest, I’m more afraid about what will I do in case I stay sober and you get drunk, forcing me to somehow deal with you in that state. What exactly are you trying to imply by taking jabs at my competence though? I would sure like to know.’’ He didn’t even know whether to be truly bothered by this, or simply mildly put off by the implications being tossed his way. This was simply not the right thing to bust at him in this situation. Not when he had simply been trying to get some clarity on what he was getting into. Being slapped by teasing remarks in return for some curiosity wasn’t very pleasant, and didn’t necessarily fit into his idea of an entertaining ‘joke’.

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Rika Mon Oct 17, 2016 11:42 pm

Rika would let out a light hum as he raised his left index finger to his natural colored lips and tapped them lightly. His eyes drifted upward in thought for a moment thinking how to answer. What was he implying? Was he implying anything at all or did it only seem that way due to the way he spoke? Mysteries, mysteries, but in the end an answer would come as he blinked and locked his eyes on the other again.

“Maybe, but then again maybe not,” he would begin with a smirk, but then blinking he’d become serious without warning as he crossed his arms a bit and tapped his right arm lightly with the fingers of his left hand. “We don’t know you very well, so we cannot say for sure how difficult you are. Though first impressions certainly implies many things until proven wrong.”

A truth. He didn’t know anything about the other, so all he had was what he had seen from his brief encounters with the other. While he couldn’t really gauge too much from the encounter at the school outside of the fact that this one could hold his ground and be quite confusing when it came to normal chat, the early morning hours had proved that the man was quite the challenge to play with if one wasn’t fully on their toes. So knowing this, the blonde kept a cautious eye on the other watching and observing though his rather chilled and outgoing way of things certainly hide that caution well, making it seem like he didn’t care what he was saying. A deceiving act, but that is just how the blonde rolled at times.

Moving along to something much more entertaining than that though…

To the other’s words and actions, Rika would raise an elegant eyebrow seeming to show interest as the other played, but interest in what was an unknown. The mystery would only deepen with what came up next.

“They can be. If you aren’t worth our time,” the blonde would begin in smooth tones and then smiling in an amused fashion, he would raise his left hand and rest his chin upon it as he looked the other up and down in a fashion that could seem suggestive. Though how serious that was was questionable and his words would not help clear matters. “Are you worth my time?”

The blonde would become quiet after that and simply watch the other with that amused smirk and expression that blocked the pathway into his thoughts. Was he serious or was he playing? Did he truly not care about the others feeling? Or was he pulling his chain because he actually did care in a fashion? The unknowns kept multiplying the more one tried to figure it out. And what did Rika do about that?

Nothing.

He did absolutely nothing to help alleviate the confusion as he seemed to just wait and watch instead for reasons he kept to himself for now. Regardless of how that went, things would change as the blonde posed a more serious question to the other...and then had to wait a bit for an answer as the other frown and thought. Did this bother the blonde? Not really. He wouldn’t bother the other much as he took the quiet time to drink a bit more of his drink. Mmm. It felt pretty nice and warm in his belly. A good drink aside though, golden orbs would focus on the other as he spoke.

“Hmph,” the blonde would begin with a small amused snort, but his facial expression had settled into something much more softer and less teasing than before as he considered the other before him. “A lone wolf, but if that is the case, then we have to wonder. If you don’t like the game of chasing and such, then what would you have done if I had taken let’s say a more active and bolder approach? What if I had decided to invade your personal space? What then?”

An odd string of questions that made one wonder if maybe that is exactly what he would’ve done if the other had forced his hand by not coming over. Would he have done what he was implying? Or was he simply giving a scenario for an answer? It was hard to say, but what was known was that he was very curious as to what the man would respond with. It was entertaining topic for the moment, but where it would go and for how long it would last was unknown, so the blonde let the matter go its course not really showing signs of displeasure or discomfort until things decided to go a rather different direction when it came to the matter of the other drinking or not.

To what was heard, the blonde would watch the other with steady eyes for a moment before sighing as he closed his eyes and his face took on a rather sad expression. He didn’t like things like this raining on fun so soon, but it appeared this one wouldn’t have it any other way, so he supposed he’d have to go along with the seriousness for now. Disappointing, but there was a time and place for everything right?  Despite this or the actions, when the blonde reopened his eyes, his expression was clear and devoid of the amusement from earlier as he met the intense stare without fear.

“Come, come now. This matter is not meant to be complicated. Yes, it is true no one goes anywhere expecting suddenly to get invited over for a drink. It is only natural to leave strangers be unless you are really drunk, too bold for our own good, desperate for attention, or simply a much larger social butterfly than I am. However, it is not unusual for people to invite others they may recognize or know over if it so pleases them to do so. We tend to go towards the familiar and this case is no different. I know your face, so why not invite? As for the drinking matter. I for one offer to share drinks and food if there is enough to go around for those I invite to join me. It is called being polite to your guests,” he would pause a bit to take a sip of his drink before continuing. “As for what you are signing yourself up for, well that is dependant entirely on you. We didn’t plan anything outside of chatting and sharing a rather good drink with you when we invited you over. What more do you want or expected?”

Rika was not upset or getting attitude with him during this process as he simply stated the facts to the other. His manner was more direct than before though whether that was because of the alcohol in his system or simply not understanding why the matter was picked at so was another matter. Though how that turned out would have to wait until later. It looked like a barrel of rather flammable fluid had been lit. As for what was said….

“Oh, for fuck’s sake, Sharaku,” Rika would begin as his carefree nature shifting to mild annoyance in as he absorbed what he had been said. “We weren’t poking at your competence or anything like that. We were just playing a bit with words, but seriously. Why are so worried about this and that or trying to figure out how to handle situations that haven’t even occurred? Have you ever tried simply going with the flow? Or not planning?”

Yes being drunk could cause for some odd things to happen and if taken too far make the situation plain odd; however, despite having every intention of getting sloshed, Rika knew how to carry drunkenness gracefully, bringing himself to a state of loopiness were he was relaxed and perhaps a bit giddy, but still highly aware of what was happening around him. He didn’t get ever get to the point of drunkenness where one was plain stupid and sick. No, that wasn’t his idea of fun. Granted, the other would have no clue about how this worked since he didn’t know Rika, but how was he to learn anything if he didn’t just let things occur and adapt to them that way rather than trying to figure out all the what ifs? It was honestly a style of thinking Rika did not get.

Annoyed or not the true reason for his snap would come shortly after as he gave a sigh and looked down at his glass and the liquid within it with a small frown.

“You could try trusting me a bit here you know?”

It was a grumble, but auible all the same. The implications the other’s word had made about him stung and. He was not too pleased as he poked at his glass quietly watching the liquid wiggle a bit as he remained quiet for now wondering how the hell did a simple offer to share a drink and a light poke turn into something so complicated. He...just didn’t understand.

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Sharaku Tue Oct 18, 2016 4:34 pm

Once he heard the answer, Sharaku would simply fix the blonde with a neutral look. ‘’So they do.’’ Were they a good thing to rely on though? He could certainly think many things if he were to go by his first impressions, and not all of them would be good. Regardless, it didn’t appear like he was going to get a straight yes or no answer from this, as much as he would have preferred to at least know that much to start with, instead of maybe’s and a further round of implications. Therefore, he would just let it float for now, as he wasn’t in the mood to keep digging into it.

Speaking of digging into things more, did the other really have to? At this rate, he was going to become tired of those evaluation-styled questions and pokes aimed at him very soon. It wasn’t something he liked to receive in excess, and if they did come, then they better be done right. For now though, he wasn’t overly distressed by the progress being made, but his responses to it probably wouldn’t satisfy the blonde much. Assuming Rika was trying to get him to play the weird flirting game or whatever it even truly was. He would opt to snort faintly. ‘’How am I supposed to know that? You tell me.’’ No, but really. There was no good answer to that, since he could at best speculate about how the guy viewed him. And while he was decently confident about himself, he was not a pompous buffoon most of the time, so he wouldn’t go around claiming he was the greatest and whatnot. He didn’t make a big halo about being impressive, even though he would of course appreciate if someone decided to inform him they thought so without needing to be prompted somehow.

Vague exchanges aside, he would soon find himself with more direct questioning shoved into his face, and he would furrow his brows slightly. Well no, he wasn’t a huge fan of being swarmed by people, but he didn’t exactly avoid interaction like a plague either. One person at a time, he could generally handle for as long as they were reasonable enough and didn’t pull too much nonsense on him. If he truly disliked it enough to never let someone approach him and do something, he would likely never even step foot into a place like this pub. It was one of those places where the possibility of some bold chaser coming after you was quite a bit higher than at many other establishments. It wasn’t as bad as some bar of course, but it was still not a place to visit if you hated strangers occupying your personal bubble at times. ‘’…then….nothing. I am not eager to constantly engage people, but I don’t literally hate it. Sometimes, it can be done right. If you didn’t somehow pull something utterly stupid and uncalled for on me, then I likely wouldn’t have done much about it.’’ He usually disliked it when it was obvious that the initiator wasn’t even mindful of what the person they are engaging might want. It’s okay to risk it and try, but please pay attention to the responses you receive. Those types of people who never took a hint, no matter how clear it was, and kept bothering you the wrong way without a drop of shame were the ones that he could definitely do without. After all, he wouldn’t really blame someone for having the guts to approach him. Only for the actions they may take afterwards, if they happen to be dumb ones.

And then, things started going a bit downhill. Although perhaps that first one was a good thing in a way. It was a little unfair if only one side was having fun, wasn’t it? Yes, he was all for some well-placed amusement, but it would be good for the blonde to realize that the fun wouldn’t and didn’t have to last forever just because one wished it to. In fact, he was more or less a rather serious type of person, and that quality would generally weigh over his moments of tagging along for fun things. Semantics aside, he would huff faintly, giving the other a pointed look.

‘’It is and yet it is not. You may perceive it as complicated, but that is not even what I am after here. What do I want? I simply seek to know things in more detail. Isn’t talking about something technically ‘chatting’ as well? It may be of a slightly different nature, but I do believe we are engaging in a conversation even now.’’

He would shake his head a bit before continuing.

‘’Regardless, what I’m trying to say is that I usually ask things simply for the sake of getting more information on a subject, or some extra clarity. Nothing more, nothing less. Perhaps you don’t care for such things enough, but I prefer to know as much as I can when it is possible. When I ask, it doesn’t have to mean I’m expecting something more of you, unless I actually push for that afterwards. All I want is to get some sort of answer. Is it that hard to talk about some things?’’

After all, how was it different from prying about other matters? In the end, it’s always about wanting to hear some sort of answer from the other person, not necessarily trying to change what is already happening. Was it because the other didn’t like being questioned about his motives, or simply wasn’t interested enough in topics that didn’t carry an easy-going vibe around them?

That one hopefully went through well enough, but the other tricky matter would sadly escalate in a way more negative way. That was a little uncalled for. Since when was it an issue to not be happy about being potentially talked down to? Yes, great, the other was just playing, but he couldn’t have known that for sure, could he? At the very least, the blonde could have phrased his pokes differently or something, because at base, jabs like that were not very nice. Not unless it was already established between the participants that exchanges were done for the sake of fun. However, the two of them had never agreed on anything, nor were they close enough to just pick up on each others' intentions naturally.

Thankfully for the other, he would opt to bite his tongue and swallow the slight urge to just say something akin to ‘fuck you too’, as he turned his face away from the blonde for a moment. He had no interest in escalating this into a full-blown confrontation, as much as he found this situation getting more and more upsetting by the minute. He was far too done for that. While he wasn’t going to mention that, he had hardly slept anything last night after that late meeting he had with the other as a single being, and then he had to deal with the dark-haired twin being a stepping mine later, eventually leading into him being where he was now, still on the same damn day. He was so not in the best mood to be jerked around right now, just because someone wanted to ‘play’ in a dangerous way.

To be frank, he wished he could just shut this talk down and ignore the other, to at least keep a bit of his sanity intact today. Alas, he didn’t think that would be worth jack squat in the end, and while he was very capable of just upping and leaving without a word, he had enough of an honor to not act that way when there were other options available still. Composing his thoughts decently enough, he would turn back to the other with a leveled, blank face.

‘’Well, newsflash for you, but I did not find it all that funny. I don’t know you well enough to be able to pick up on your exact intentions on spot, and those pokes could very well be rather insulting, depending on the underlying intentions of the person posing them. I see this as more of a ‘playing close to the fire’, than simply ‘playing a bit’ as you put it. If you’re not ready to swallow a possibly negative reaction, then maybe you should consider minding what you are about to say before you put it on the table like that. You asked, I gave you my answer. It is not my obligation to act pleased when I am not.’’

He would pause for a bit, shrugging vaguely.

‘’And honestly? Why does it bother you, hm? For all you know, maybe my perceived worries were just an attempt at playing around, like you say yours were. Things aren’t all that simple, I’d say. Regardless, my answer is that I am not. It is true that I would like to know what would happen in that situation, but I would not say I am worrying just yet. This is simply how I am. I could try asking you a similar thing. Have you ever tried to just be less stubborn in certain situations? I’m sure back at the school, the situation would have settled much faster if you didn’t keep holding onto the book forcefully while not even trying to make amends for yourself in any way. We’re all who we are. Asking me to act differently for you because you aren’t enjoying me at that moment is like asking me to be someone else. I too would like people to play by my rules sometimes. Like your other self not having steam coming out of his ears almost constantly, but it’s not like I could make him stop doing it on spot, could I? Trying things that are against the grain for you isn’t that easy.’’

If it was, then there would never be clashes between people, would there? Since everyone would be able to just change their approach on spot and still get the same amount of enjoyment from it.

‘’In lieu of that, I’d say we’re even on this. I can’t really stop you from trying to play around, but I can’t guarantee I will always like being provoked in that manner. In the same way, I am not going to just turn into a perpetual risk taker, simply because you can’t swallow my normal style well.’’

That’s how it was, and how it would always be. Of course, he could at times do things without picking them apart, but despite it being a possibility, it was never going to become his main mode of operation. Besides, was a bit of planning even dangerous to anyone…?

With that said, he would lean against the back of his seat slightly, pondering that last question for a brief moment before answering it.

‘’What you ask for isn’t a light matter. Trust is usually something that has to be earned for it to be solid enough and not break at the first possible chance. Would you be willing to blindly trust me in turn if I asked you for it?’’

After all, trust isn’t something to throw around as if it was just a cheap good.

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Rika Sun Oct 23, 2016 10:29 am

To the neutral expression given Rika would remained quite chilled in his spot, the slight smile never leaving his lips as he blinked lazily before shifting to grab his glass and take a sip from it once more. As he was putting the glass down he would give a rather content “Mhmm” in response to the short comment that he got regarding first impressions. There was honestly nothing he could build off that as it seemed they had come to an agreement of a sorts and that was that. Sure, he could’ve poked if he wanted to, but unlike his other half who had the tendency to dig a bit too deep into things at times, Rika was a bit more quieter on that front unless he knew someone well enough to continue to pry deeper. So for now that small topic would pass and his thoughts on the matter would remain unknown.

With one topic down, Rika did try to play a small game with the other; however, from response given it seemed the other was turning it around a different way. The blonde picked up on the fact that he wasn’t as playful as before causing the grin to fade a bit with disappointment. Even so, he didn’t seem to be taking it too badly as his eyes lazily drifted away from the other to watch the world around him. “Perhaps we were searching for a hint as to what I was dealing with, but it seems now I have to wait and see.” He would pause as he took a moment to enjoy the comfortable feeling of the liquid in his belly and the slight light-headedness he was feeling. He wasn’t drunk or tipsy yet, but there was a slight buzz there that suggested a few more glasses would have him right where he wanted to be. The thought made him smirk a bit to himself as he watched a waitress go by, but he remembered he had a guest and so would turn his eyes back to the other after a few seconds. He would tilt his head lightly at the other. “You’re not like most folk who like to sell themselves when asked such questions. Why is that?”

He would pry only a bit wondering if this style of the other was his way of playing hard to get in a fashion or if the guy was just being honest with his display. Being offended had nothing to do with this matter, the question brought about by curiosity instead. The end response to this could go many ways, but for the most part the blonde didn’t seem too bothered as he simply waited to see what he got. He didn’t see what he was doing as harmful, so why should it blow up? Though it would appear his next question was going elsewhere, but where was hard to say.

For see you the answer that was given only made Rika give the other a lopsided grin as some unknown thought went through his mind as he absorbed the words. He took away from it that the guy could play, but what he was going to do with that information or if he was going anything at all with it was a questionable matter….and trying to dig for some clarity without actually prying would get one nowhere. Regardless of that, it seemed the other had done well enough to fulfill the blonde’s curiosity for he would receive a rather content “Ah. I see.” from the guy. The words slipping from his mouth as smooth and sweet as honey. However, it didn’t seem like the blonde was taking it beyond just simple questioning, so maybe it was honestly just a question he wanted answered. Who knew?

On another note, it would seem this pair would go from okay waters to...er...rather choppy ones as words began to trigger negativity within the chat. The first round wasn’t so bad, but still did not make the blonde happy as he pretty much felt like he was being scolded in some fashion for speaking his thoughts on the matter.

To the first set of words, he continued to poke at his glass moodily for a moment not really making eye contact with the other for a bit as he nodded slightly at the what he heard. “Well...we suppose that is true.” he would grumble back still pouting about the matter, but more or less swallowing that well enough. He could agree they were indeed having a conversation...just not one he’d like to be in at the moment. He preferred more fun than all this serious talk. Though he did seems to at least perk up slightly at the next set of words as he heard the reasoning behind the man’s questioning.

At least there he had looked up at him a bit reluctantly and listened, but as soon as he posed a question, the blonde was looking away again as he shook his head slightly. “No it is not.” He would respond back, the direct questioning somehow placing him more in a in a listen and respond mode. Though why that was or where he had picked up on such a thing was questionable. It was odd to the least. Even odder was the fact that within a few seconds the blonde had gone from bubbly to a state of seriousness that was not usual for him and maybe if things had ended there, he would’ve fluffed back up again and recovered. Sure he didn’t like being scolded, but at least he could handle it and move on. It was light conflict that was easily resolved with clarity. So this was okay despite the fact the blonde hated the low spot.

However….things did not end there as emotions came into play and words that should not have been spoken were spoken...and in turn got even worse results than the first round. The storm would start with a calm as the other looked away and was quiet for a moment. The blonde was expecting a reaction, but the snap he got back when the other faced him again was not what he was prepared for.

To the first bit the blonde would wince a bit as he shrunk back slightly in his seat as if he been physically struck. That was a rather uncomfortable blow and maybe if the talk halted there he would’ve apologized. He didn’t really understand that what he had perceived as a poke was actually that impactful on the other. He never even considered it to go that deep, but he supposed he was wrong. And that was fine. That was fine, but the other didn’t end it there. No, he kept going.

And it seemed the matter was only getting worse as he pretty much countered the questions posed with questions and examples of his owns. Yes it was true that he could’ve done things better, but on the other hand the other did not understand how he ticked or the odd lines between himself and the people. Lines he probably could not ever explain in with words. Sure there was no excuse for his behavior, but at the same time it did not change that is simply how he acted when people became vicious to him on certain fronts...though why that was being brought up now was a bit confusing to the blonde. Was that being used as support for something? He didn't know and wouldn't ponder much as he remained focused on what was being said.

As for the matter of the other's behavior bothering him. Well not really. Yes he had snapped at him, but it was more because he didn’t understand why everything had to be so serious and why the other couldn’t lighten up a bit. He wasn’t asking him change or do anything drastically different. He was simply asking if the guy could go a little bit easier on the heavier stuff...though maybe his wording was wrong, but what other way was there to approach rather than direct? The blonde didn’t know as his mind simply whirled at it all. Then the other ended it all with that finisher and then…

Silence. Absolute silence.

It wasn’t that Rika didn’t have anything to say back to that, but rather he just couldn’t say what he wanted to say. The assault was a heavy one that he had never expected to get in the first place. Sure he’s been burnt before thanks to his mouth, but this? This was the sort of stuff that Rika hated. He wasn’t trying to make wars and to be honest he wasn’t one to actually fight. Yes he could come off as imposing, but in the end he was typically the one to hide and let Tamiki do the pummeling both physically and verbally; however, Tamiki was not here and he was faced with this ugly beast that he had no idea how to handle or respond to.

His playful air would evaporate as his pretty face crumpled as he looked down at the table quite confused and very much upset. He wanted to say something back, but simply could not, the thoughts a becoming a jumbled mess each time. Having the thoughts there and not being able to say them was frustrating enough, but add on top of that confusion and genuine hurt from it all? Yeah, the blonde was definitely a mess now and did not hide it. In fact, if one paid enough attention it almost appeared as if he would cry though no tears came...yet.

He would continue to try and work through it all on his own, try to regain footing as he shook his head a bit trying to find clarity in it all, but so far finding none. If the man had wanted to shut him or shut the whole thing down well he had managed to do it quite well for the blonde had indeed shut up and then some.

Even after he had tried to use the liquor in front of him to calm himself a bit, the blonde would remain quiet as he simply stared down at the glass distressed and still uncertain how to approach this. He didn’t have a counter and he hardly thought apologies worked in this case, so at a lost as to what to do he would keep his mouth shut for the time being. Welp. Now what? A bit of silence and a question? H-He supposed he’d have to speak after all.

Still trying to recover from the previous assault, Rika would shift in his seat a bit uncomfortably and when he opened his mouth to speak, his words came out less bold and more timid and uncertain this time around.

“Well...uh...in some situations you’d have to give the benefit of doubt to other, no?” You couldn’t exactly have the sort of trust he was referring to settled when you only just met someone or had a few interactions with them, could you? If the world worked like that then why did social gatherings happen at all? As for the last part, the blonde would shrug a bit still uncomfortable, but trying anyway as remained seated by some miracle. “I dunno...It would depend what you were asking me to trust you about….”

He’d trail off from there not pushing anything forward. iIt seemed that lashing had did more damage than one thought. The blonde had definitely gone from outgoing and bold to more quiet and shelled up, so what now?

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Sharaku Sun Oct 23, 2016 5:24 pm

This wasn’t going to be full of long conversations, was it? It appeared that neither of them was much of a talker in normal circumstances, so the question was, would this work out well? That was something to be seen later however, as it was too early to tell just yet.

He would stay mostly silent, until the other turned to him with a new question. He would blink. ‘’What is the point? Regardless of what I’d say about myself, people form their own impressions about those they interact with. I could talk about being awesome, but if you decide to think the opposite of me based on your own expectations, it matters not in the end. In fact, I’d probably just look like I’m full of myself if things happen to go that way.’’ It could be a good thing when you’re at a job interview, or some event that pretty much requires you to paint yourself the best you can, but like this? It’s not really your choice as to how people decide to view you after all. Plus, who likes to talk about their bad traits? Therefore, people will likely present mostly the things they see as great about themselves, making it a skewered evaluation to begin with. It wasn’t that he couldn’t, but he generally didn’t see enough value in strutting himself in that matter. ‘’I’ve never seen a big advantage in boxing myself by stating such things early on, and besides, if a person wants to get to know you, they better not be too lazy to work on figuring it out themselves with time.’’ Sometimes, it wasn’t very beneficial to give away information too fast, as it could easily cause unexpected reactions which could perhaps be avoided by having the person come across those matters slowly.

As the change of subject rolled past, he would only give the blonde a sparse glance, once again remaining quiet in the face of such a short, final response. It didn’t appear like the other wanted to go beyond what has already been said on the matter, so he saw no need to force anything for the moment. After all, if the other wanted to talk further, he could always bring out a follow-up without being prompted to do it somehow.

And then…

Frankly, he was almost never sure why people reacted in negative ways when he brought a point up. It’s like everyone wanted to be somehow upset when he disagreed with them…but, what was he supposed to do? If he happened to get a bit upset about their behavior and spoke up, they saw it as an attempt to upset them instead or something. Did that mean he couldn’t even assert his own opinion because people didn’t want to handle it? It’s not like he liked being pulled around himself, and saying nothing when a situation was heading a way he didn’t like would solve nothing for him, would it? On the other hand, when he said something, he only got reactions that made it worse anyway, because everyone was apparently a good 10x touchier than him.

In lieu of that, he would just not really respond once again. There just wasn’t anything he could see as a plausible retort. Nor did he want to risk to turn this even more sour by more stuff up. It was probably best to just not voice any concerns or such at all when it basically always went in an unpleasant manner.

Sadly, it would appear that he couldn’t avoid an extra plate of sour anyway, and this was frankly trying his patience in a sense. He didn’t understand, but even if he tried to look at it from a different angle of view and all, he still didn’t find it very fair. So, the blonde poking him with unpleasant stuff simply because he thought it was completely fine to write it off as play without giving it much thought was completely justified, but when he was simply trying to make a stand considering he didn’t exactly share the same outlook on things as the other….the appropriate response is almost weeping like a kid? So, simply defending himself and making it known that he had a different idea of the matter was somehow more upsetting than being jabbed at and stuff? Was he expected to just do nothing when he wasn’t happy about what was happening? The blonde found it completely okay to get mildly snappy at him when he didn’t take well to the ‘playful’ implications, but the other way around was a no no for some reason? And he wasn’t even being snappy for real. More so just not wanting to be taken for granted by not speaking up at all. But it seemed like it was something he couldn’t even do without landing himself into some upset-fest basically every time.

A Bottle Rum L7vDPcA

Well, he was not going to do anything more about it. He didn’t know what could he even do anyway. Besides, he wasn’t sure he was in the mood to try in any case. He had nothing to truly say when things just went like this. People liked acting offended and hurt whenever he said something without sugarcoating his opinion too much, but that was that. Most of them were obviously not happy about him in some way, but it’s not like they made it any better by their own reactions. It didn’t help either party like that, and while he could, he was losing the interest to try and possibly just add more fuel to the flame. He wouldn’t exactly appreciate the blonde bawling or something. Just because he said something. He couldn’t even have predicted this, could he? The other had acted pretty bold and whatnot at first, and then all of a sudden he goes turning into a bundle of tears or something.

‘’…so, what does that mean in the end? You say it’s about giving the benefit of doubt, but it’s not like you seem very eager to do that yourself.’’, he would respond with a faint sigh when he got some sort of an answer to the follow-up talk about trust. He was honestly not happy right now. In fact, what was actually the point of him being here if he’d have to deal with a potential crybaby for the rest of this encounter? No offense, but he didn’t mix too well with people who turned to cowering and weeping as easily and quickly as that. If that was a typical reaction, then this would most likely not work too well. This was sort of even worse than someone deciding to get pissed. At least in that situation he didn’t have to worry about handling an impending breakdown or such….

‘’I suppose you’d have to excuse me for being cryptic, but seeing as people love to act like I’m a bad guy when I speak up on something, I’m not all that inclined to trusting everyone I come across just because.’’

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Rika Mon Oct 24, 2016 10:03 pm

Silence. It seemed like it was a common thing no matter which twin the dark haired male dealt with. While it was true the blonde could indeed be flirty and more out going than his other half, it was also true when not given much to run on he could be surprisingly quiet. Maybe even more quiet than his other half if one wasn’t careful. Though whether this was going to be a problem or not was yet to be seen and perhaps not really a concern since it seemed they had found some thing to speak on after a few moments of stillness had passed.

“Huh,” the blonde would begin in an amused tone as he watched the other with a contemplative look. So he wasn’t playing hard to get. He was just being honest about the matter. Well that was indeed something and look he had expectations of others too. How interesting. How very interesting. The blonde would remain quiet for a bit longer observing the other before he was blinking as he shifted in his spot to casually tossed his left arm across the back of seat he was in. “You are definitely not in a box. In fact, from what I’ve encountered thus far I haven’t found someone quite like you. Most of the time if you open a door for folk to blab about themselves, they're all over it, but you? You’ve turned that concept on its head. What a very refreshing change up to the norm.”

While the blonde wore his smirk still, his words were honest and not aiming to poke or mock the other. He wasn’t even saying them to gain approval or in anything. No they were just his honest appreciation of this change. Was it really wrong to express that out loud? Maybe and then again maybe not. In the end, it depended on how the other took what was heard and translated it. While Rika didn’t really see it harmful or something to get upset about, time would prove that this mindset was not always good when it came the man before him. For you see, what was harmless in one’s eye was actually a bit offensive in another.

While it was true there was no yelling or crying fits occurring, there was a clear change in the atmosphere as the dark hair male pretty much let the blonde have it so to speak. No, it wasn’t aggressive and maybe it was just explaining, but even so the amount of seriousness that had came at the blonde was a bit too much. It overloaded him and made him unsure what to do and being not exactly pleasant words only made the situation harder to compute. It made him distressed and in turn he had wanted to cry. He suppose this trait of his could make him come off as a crybaby to those who did not know him.

When distressed greatly in any fashion along the emotional board, the blonde typically had one of two reactions - he either became very nasty and dangerous or he ended up weepy, making many who were looking at the surface view peg him as weak. True, he wasn’t physically strong or biting like Tamiki was and yes he did have a habit of backing away from a flame, but did this really make him weak? One had to wonder, but for now he’d deal with whatever label had been slapped on him by the other due to the way he acted.

He could tell by actions that the man was either really frustrated or tired of himself or maybe just something in general that he was unintentionally adding fuel too. Regardless, it wasn’t a pleasing look and maybe in that moment the other saw him as not worth his time anymore. In fact, the blonde was half expecting him to leave...yet for whatever reason he stayed. Stayed and continued to chat.

“Mean?” the blonde would repeat quietly still seeming a bit shaken, but at least slightly calmer than before. “Giving others the benefit of doubt….I...I guess its just human nature to do that. It is not the sort of trust built up solidly yet, but at least it is there to help us somehow interact with each other.….Otherwise...I..umm...” He would pause a bit as he shifted in his seat slightly to grab the bottle of rum. He would refill the glass, the liquid somehow not splashing out despite the shaky hand that poured it. As he was doing this, he had before speaking again. “I dun…. think we’d be able to communicate as people...if we didn’t give some form of small trust...everyone would just keep everything under lock and key. As for self...we do give it…” He would take a sip of the rum before setting the glass down and actually looking over at the other, this time around keeping better eye contact. “...If we...uh...if we didn’t, we wouldn’t still be sitting here. We’d would’ve been out of here after that talk you gave….”

The blonde would become quiet after that as he took note of the other’s air sensing that he was not very pleased and maybe in a fashion distressed himself. It kind of made Rika feel a bit bad to add onto whatever was making him agitated in the first place...and what he heard next only made the blonde wince a bit before he leaned against the table, his fingers encasing the rum glass in a ring created by his hands.

“Bad guy?...I wouldn’t necessarily say bad guy, but your words….” he would pause a bit as he look over at the other a bit unsure if this was wise, but continuing anyway. “Can be hard to swallow. Judging from your reaction and words...we are not exactly different from others or they're reactions….We weren’t trying to stress you out or make you feel like the bad guy. We’re sorry…”

His tones were a bit calmer than before a sign he was recovering and while he did apologize it wasn’t for pity or trying to make the guy feel worse that he did this. No, if the other paid attention or even took notice, the blonde wore a look that was a mix of confusion and distress, but not the sort of distress that came about due to wanting to cry, but more like the sort of distress that came when trying to figure out a difficult puzzle. In a nutshell was Rika trying to understand the other and in turn try to do something to make him more comfortable.

Maybe starting off a bit more subtle would’ve been wiser, but he hadn’t and since things had come to some rather unexpected slip ups, the blonde had gone from playful and bold to still a bit timid, but at the same time trying to be understanding of the other. He...wasn’t looking for wars and honestly wanted to try to at least work with the other, but he couldn’t get far on his own….and considering the other had shown signs of frustration before, Rika had to wonder just where this would go....or how long the other would tolerate being around him...

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Sharaku Tue Oct 25, 2016 5:52 pm

Most certainly did. However, he never cared for it. If asked a specific question, he would answer unless it was something too personal. But just talk about himself like that? There was literally no reason for him to draw attention like that. He wasn’t a big people person, and he generally had next to no intention of putting himself out there just because. One could perhaps say that he wasn’t very social, but it’s not like babbling and whatnot was actually any sort of rule, was it? No one could prove it was necessary to do that in the first place. There are plenty ways to get to know someone, and that was just one of them. A rather shallow one in many cases, in his opinion, but to each their own. He would shrug nonchalantly. ‘’I don’t like to put myself into unnecessary spotlight. I’d leave the talking to the people who like to show off.’’ If it gave them a kick, then so be it, but it wasn’t really his problem, was it?

Sadly, what happened next would be an actual problem of sorts. Even though it would kind of just pass in silence. He wasn’t sure what to really think of it at that point, but there was nothing he could do, and doing nothing was in fact the best possible choice. Saying something would probably only make the matters worse, and even then, he didn’t really want to be the one to bring something up. Seeing as he has never even gotten any response to what he had said before, which made it a bad idea to try and add more on top of it. Or so he would think. It’s not like he could read Rika’s mind to know what the blonde was thinking this whole time. Whatever it was would remain unknown until the talk somehow picked up again a while later, as shaky as it was….

He would furrow his brows slightly at the answer given. ‘’I don’t know. I never saw it as a given. You can communicate even with people you don’t trust at all, and there is no saying it will turn out to be bad simply because you don’t. I certainly can’t say I would consider myself to be trusting of everyone I ever happen to get pulled into a conversation with. That would make far too many people, and I don’t see the point of doing it. Unless it’s something personal, I don’t see a problem with speaking to a random person without actively giving them the benefit of doubt. I see it as something we can consciously choose to give when something doesn’t seem right at first glance, but we don’t want to label it as a no-go immediately. Otherwise, I don’t think it even comes to mind for me…’’ He usually saw it as a deliberate action, rather than just something done naturally. It was impossible to keep everything under lock and key completely, unless you wanted to become a hermit and bury yourself under the ground, and just because you put yourself out there a bit, it doesn’t mean you’re suddenly handing some trust to everyone you speak to, does it? Well, maybe some do, but he didn’t see it as that big of a deal. Even if you do happen to give some benefit of doubt, with a new person it’s likely very weak and doesn’t actually mean all that much in the face of a seemingly bigger issue.

Outside of that…’’If you wanted to leave, I wouldn’t stop you. I have no reason to be forcing you to talk to me unless you genuinely want to. I don’t see the need to ask for attention if it isn’t even given because the person wants to themselves.’’ In fact, fake attention and just playing around for the heck of it could be very off-putting. Maybe if the person pulled it off right, it could end up working decently, but generally speaking, he didn’t have a lot of interest in people who kept engaging him just because they thought they had to or something like that. It’s only entertaining for a short while.

A Bottle Rum RkpPaWD

‘’If I were to let it get me down each time it happens, I would probably have killed myself with stress long ago. I just don’t know what people actually want of me though. It almost seems like I should just be in agreement with everything that gets said since almost no one can handle being talked back to in any way.’’

Did they want him to sugarcoat when bringing something up? Wouldn’t that make the matter sound less serious than it might be? Can’t be sweet-talking everything, otherwise people will start not taking you seriously enough. On the other hand, they start flailing when you’re upfront with them to actually get a point across. Can’t ever win, can you? Besides, he wasn’t good at soft talk to begin with, and it took considerable effort to maintain such. It wasn’t something he liked to do left and right, without knowing whether it was even the right approach, or what exactly it was that someone wanted of him.

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Rika Sun Oct 30, 2016 11:06 pm

“I see.” Ah the phrase that ends most conversation had once more appeared as Rika watched the other with a curious eye. So the guy didn’t like to show off like a peacock. He wasn’t trying to show off and it seemed that other ways would be needed if one wanted to get to know him better. Well that made the game a bit more challenging, but also a bit interesting for Rika who had seen one too many of the same go across his path. It was like finding a good talent. You saw the same ones go by on the stage until finally by some blessing one decided to do things differently and stuck out. While Rika most certainly wasn’t searching for anything outside of a high and a good time when he came in here, the blonde was quite happy to find something he could appreciate. It made the drink that much better. Quite content, the doll like eyes would blink in a lazy and sleepy fashion that was a familiar trait of the blonde’s. He would take a sip of his drink before opening his mouth to speak again. “Well, if you don’t stand on a pedestal, then what way do you prefer for someone to try and get to know you?” The blonde supposed what he was doing was one of those ways to learn and maybe what he asked had no real answer. Even so he wanted to hear what the man had to say. Who knew maybe he could gain some guiding points here.

However, one had to wonder if said guiding points would be used if they were even given at all. You see, the heavy handed words from the darker hair male had rattled the blonde so badly that he was literally lost for words. His mind couldn’t formulate what he wanted to say. He wasn’t ignoring what had been said or trying to avoid it. He just didn’t know what to do or how to express what was in his head in a way anyone could understand. Sure he could take the emotion out and display with art in that instant, but just saying how he felt at the moment? He wish he could speak, but during that moment he just couldn’t and instead had crumpled. That was an unfortunate hang up and probably something the man with him viewed negatively, but it had been done now and for the moment it looked like the matter would be put on hold as neither male went back to it as conversation died and then tried to restart itself some time later despite its shaky legs.

Rika would see the expression given and take a moment to absorb the words heard. His look would somewhat mimic the other as he tried to work through that one. “I’ve never saw it as something one did by choice. I just assumed that trust was what it was that got people to interact with each other to begin with. To us trust comes in layers. Like there is one form of trust that is used for social settings while a different shade of trust is built for something more serious than just a random encounter here and there,” he would say softly as he watched the glass, one finger moving to rub the rim of it absentmindedly in a graceful arc. He didn’t quite understand the concept of not trusting at all. It was almost like telling him you could paint still without any paints to do said task. It just didn’t make sense to him, but even so he wasn’t fighting against what was being said. He just had a really hard time accepting that even if it was explained in simple words. It just didn’t seem right, but perhaps the other painted with different colors than he did, so perhaps this was a point they would remain on opposite sides of the fence. Hopefully that difference would be okay and not cause trouble between them.

In any case, Rika would only ponder the words for a second longer before shifting his hand to drink a bit more of the rum in the glass. As he was placing the glass back on the table, he would hear the words the other said about leaving and sigh a bit as his head bowed and he looked off to the side a bit.

“We know we could leave, but we don’t want to run. We don’t think...it would be good. One cannot solve anything by doing that...” Besides he wasn’t staying to try to put on a brave face or trying to sit because he felt he had to. No what he said was honest. He couldn’t just run away from problems. He had to face them, so…

The blonde would pause a bit, taking a breath to steady himself as he tried collect his thoughts a bit more before attempting to tackle the thoughts there. “...What you said back there. We weren’t trying to run from the topics with our silence or behavior. I heard you loud and clear. Too clear. We honestly never thought to be more careful with our play. Most people pick up on cues and just go with the flow, so we never thought anyone would take to it like you did. Never considered it a possibility, especially with alcohol involved,” Rika would pause as he shook his head a bit seeming to try and stay focus or something. “You said we were playing too close to the fire and so for that we apology. Perhaps rather than playing some rules or what not should be laid out. Though it might be a little late for that considering it all, but...I suppose starting somewhere is better than not starting at all, yes” he would pause to sort through the next bit in his mind as he took another swing of the drink, the liquid seeming to calm him even more the more he drank.

“As for your question about stubbornness. It is true we could’ve handle the book situation better, but at the same time...I had my reasons for giving that one a hard time. We know it is not best to fight and cause a scene, but we supposed we just got tired of her bullying us. Her words about our intelligence and what not. That is something she has been harping on for years...We find it ironic she ended up following us all the way to college. Kind of like a curse in a way…” Yeah that one kind had it coming to her, it just took him years to finally toughen up enough to give her back the hell she’d been giving him is all. Rika would sigh lightly as he took his glass in between his fingers and leaned back in his seat his arms easily relaxing against the back rest. He would let the glass hang in his hands as he continued on. “We are stubborn and understand what you mean by going things against one's grain.Trust us, people have been trying to place us in a box for a while now, but we don’t be there. So while it causes backlash, we fight to keep who we are. Not best all the time...but we do we know works for us. That is why we weren’t trying to ask you to change. Can’t really. As you stated we are who we are. We just have to deal with it no matter how painful or hard things are to swallow is at times...” Yeah it was called life, but even so he sometimes wish life didn’t bite so hard when all he wanted was to have fun here and there. Granted, maybe this stumble was good. At least it had taught him some form of caution at least and taught him not to clown around unless he knew it was okay.

As for that look given when he mentioned the other’s way of speaking. Rika looked away from the other to take the moment to glance around to keep his composure and also to think. The room was a bit shifty, but not too bad as he heard the words given. Swishing the liquid in the glass a bit he would think some more before answering.

“We...can’t speak for others...and it probably will mean nothing considering it took me this long to respond back to words from earlier, but….We for one did’t expect such bluntness,” he would slouch a bit in his chair and look up at the ceiling as he got comfortable in his seat as he thought how to word this. “We can’t say people are nice, but most of the time people try to play with gentler tones from what I've observe unless of course they are getting angry or agitated with something. Then tones change to some frighting reds and not so great greens. So when dealing with someone, I suppose they expect you to be like everyone else, but when you open your mouth or do something, they rebel against it and maybe even fight to try and get you to conform in some way. Like beat you into something that plays by their rules and they understand; however, we aren’t like that. Neither us or Tamiki. We are actually open minded and accepting than one thinks We...are just bad...No,” he would pause to take a swallow of his drink again before continuing. “Scratch that. We are horrible at expressing ourselves or that point. So in the end we either come off very aggressive or….just a uh...well...cry baby,” he would look up at the other and give him a brief bitter smile before his face became serious again as he looked down again. “Anyway...I am probably sound like I am rambling here when all I wanted to do was try and give some clarity and say you are cool the way you are and just be you. We will...admit we won’t like some stuff thrown at us and we might shut up or do something weird in response, but gives us a moment and you’ll see just like now we can get back on track. Frustrating and annoying perhaps, but we are just a mess like that. If you get fed up with us I suppose you'll just walk away, so...” He would trail off there not even sure what he was saying made sense or not. Well, he had tried to make things clearer, but how well that went over was uncertain. Maybe it just made the situation worse. He didn’t know.

And wouldn’t know until the other reacted or something, so praying this didn’t just unravel things even further, Rika would fall quiet as he drained the rest of the liquid in his glass and shifted to sit the glass back on the table. For now, he didn’t do a refill, letting the current liquid in him chill him out some more as he simply waited for whatever would happen.

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Sharaku Tue Nov 01, 2016 7:50 pm

Hm? He would tilt his head in mild confusion at the question he was given. The way the blonde was poking him about it made it sound like people showing off was practically a given, and that it’s what should normally be done when getting to know others. Which he didn’t quite understand. It was a personal choice as to whether one wanted to boast about themselves or not, and if someone is leery of trying because they can’t see things at first glance…their problem? No one’s asking them to bother after all. Generally speaking, at least. He would eventually give the other a questioning look. ‘’What’s the difference? Just because I don’t intend to show off whenever I get the chance, I don’t think that’s a synonym for not ever talking about anything. I don’t know. Perhaps just put in genuine effort instead of expecting me to present everything to them myself right away? I would say it isn’t that hard to ask a specific question if you want to know something, so I don’t really see why would people take issue with my stand, unless they are too lazy to spend some time on another person.’’ Showing off doesn’t give an honest image of a person anyway, since they would likely try to put forward the best foot they can. Therefore, he didn’t even see it as a very good way of ‘getting to know’ someone. Of course, if you’re just interested in knowing them on the surface, go ahead. To each their own, after all.

….besides, sometimes it was better to not speak, wasn’t it? He would say he did better when he was quiet, in all honesty. Unless he just went and assumed that the majority of the population were unable to calmly hold a more serious talk. Which, if it were true, would be pretty sad. It was unlikely, however, as much as he would love to just believe that. It would sure make life easier…well, theoretically. It didn’t matter what he thought, since thoughts alone would change nothing about a given situation.

Speaking of theory, a lot of things were just that, weren’t they? He would shrug slightly. ‘’I rarely give it a thought. Trust is an intangible concept. Even if what you speak of were hypothetically true for every interaction with a new person, one cannot tell anyway. Such a small amount of trust is rather abysmal, and since it cannot be actually seen, it easily remains a mystery as to whether it exists or does not. In lieu of that, I generally don’t bother to wonder about it until it becomes substantial enough to clearly matter.’’ Sure, you could try to trust someone you just met, but it would be a very shaky, weak type of trust. One that might not even get noticed by the other person, since something like that is hard to just locate. In many cases, it may not even matter whether there was any to begin with. With that weak initial trust…you won’t get over serious obstacles anyway. If two people don’t click, that won’t save them. ‘’Besides, I simply think that it can be either way. I don’t even expect someone to just put any trust in me right away after I happen to engage them in a conversation. There are many times people have to interact due to business that needs to be done, not because they want to get close and build some trust between each other. You never know the intentions of the person that approaches you, therefore there is no way to confirm some trust is always present.’’ They could be after anything, and a lot of things are easily completely devoid of trust of any sort.

He would glance at the other thoughtfully. ‘’Perhaps not. However, it’s your call whether you want to solve something to simply leave it be. To each their own.’’ Sure, running away could be seen as cowardly, and perhaps it often truly was….but, who makes the decision? Sometimes, it is unnecessary to keep fighting on. Sometimes, you could easily just move on with your life and not waste your time trying to find a solution to something. It’s a matter of perspective, and situation. If you believe it holds little meaning to you, then you should be free to leave.

When the blonde decided to finally open his mouth and talk, he would simply lean his elbows against the table, listening in silence until he entire line of speech was done. Sure, he could have jibbed in somewhere, but he preferred to take a moment to think before responding anyway, so it was best to let the other get to the finish line first. For a moment, he would close his eyes in thought, tapping the fingers of his right hand against the table. He seemed to be considering something, whatever it was. Eventually, he would glance at the other though, speaking up. ‘’I’m not looking for an apology. I can do away with just some acknowledgement or such. People’s actions tend to tell more than their words in the long run anyway. I’m perfectly aware of what most people probably think of me, and it is what it is. It just gets mildly aggravating when too many people don’t want to consider a view different than their own.’’ Even more so when they caused a scene about it. Yes, he understood that any implication could have a different meaning, depending on who said it. However, just because you mean something one way, another person isn’t obliged to take it the same way was well. He’d honestly rather butt heads than to conform just to be able to keep a harmonious environment around him. There were people who did that, but he wasn’t the type.

‘’I wonder though. Why didn’t you just try to prove it to her then? A big part of her argument was that you looked stupid and didn’t even understand what you were told. Things like that. Based on what I see, you seem perfectly capable of holding a normal, intelligent conversation. So why did you basically feed her negative opinion of you by acting like you actually were not so bright? It sounds rather counterproductive to me. She would never give up on her claim, for you did not give her a reason to think otherwise of you with your actions.’’ Not much can be done when the situation is kind of a self-sabotage in a way. One could argue forever that she is wrong, but when the blonde himself is acting the part and just doing nothing and dumbly staring at what is happening…there’s no way a typical person would be convinced. Not just by the word of someone else, when the person in question is kind of digging their own grave meanwhile.

That part of the conversation aside, however…

He would furrow his brows lightly. ‘’I tend to speak directly. While playing gentle sounds nice, if you do it when you have something different in mind for real, people might not take you seriously enough instead. I was never good at sweet-talk anyway. Not unless I truly mean it. I don’t do well at faking emotion of any sort properly.’’ If there was any, it would likely be rather obvious. Otherwise, he would probably just come off flat, or neutral. It depended on the situation. Admittedly however, his direct style of speaking could make it mistakenly sound as something it wasn’t, regardless of whether there was any actual intent of that sort behind it. He would put his hands up in the air slightly with a somewhat exasperated sigh. ‘’I would say you’re better than me either way. At least you express something. I probably come off basically the same, regardless of what I’m trying to get at.’’ Of course, it also depended on how the other side chose to interpret it, but for the most part, there wasn’t a big difference in his outward presentation. He didn’t really do extremes either. Blunt, yes, but actually aggressive? No, not at all. The other way around didn’t work either.

‘’I don’t think you need to worry much….It may look like it, but I’m not even annoyed right now. I can’t seem to hold onto a mood for long unless it’s affecting me strongly enough to stick…’’

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Rika Sat Nov 05, 2016 7:30 pm

The blonde would take in the tilt of the head and look on the other’s face as he asked what he saw as a direct question. When he heard a response back, he would give the other a light blink as he shifted to grabbed the bottle of rum again and refill his empty glass. He wasn’t trying to say showing off was the standard or even the norm when he posed this question. All he had been stating was that most people ate the offer up like candy when given the chance to show off. He hadn’t been shutting doors off to talking either. He was simply curious about the way he should be approaching the guy before him. Granted words were never a sure fire way of anything, but still a hint of what to do was sometimes helpful in the matter. Though it was always up to the other party to give one or not.

Regardless of this thought, the guy did answer back and so the blonde would take it in as he took a swallow of the drink before placing the glass on the table once more and leaning forward as his golden locks swished forward over his shoulder. His positioning was relaxing thanks to the liquid in him, but his eyes despite the sleepy look in them were quite aware, so maybe he was only slightly drunk and not dangerously so yet. This slight change in behavior came with a shift in his speech.

“The difference is approach. Like you stated, it doesn’t take much effort to let a show boat just flash all its goods at ya. For a surface feeder that is all they need, but see we ain’t a surface feeder thus I asked my question. I dun know you and so have no clue how you like or dun like to be treated. You say ask specific questions, yet mine was specific. I wanted to know what approached worked for ya and you delivered. Now does this mean it's all hooray and this way is best way? No, I didn’t factor out work when it came to the question. Dun thinf anyone can get far without work or time.”

There was a slight slur to some of his words, but he wasn’t being hostile or trying to stir the pot with that one. He just wanted to share his view on the matter and why he had questioned it to begin with. He understood that his way could seem strange to some, but he didn’t mind clarifying things and show he wasn’t being a lazy ass when it came to chatting with this guy in particular. Unlike the bar bum you just talked to due to having someone to pass time with, he had invited the other over to chat on a different level. He wanted to actually try and get to know him a bit better….though some parts of this whole encounter had been a bit scary and questionable, but it seemed between the alcohol and getting some things straightened out it had calmed things a bit for now. Anyway….

The blonde would blink sleepily at the other as he took in his words about trust, his elegant eyebrows furrowed a bit with thought. “Mmm. I can see your point there and as far as thinking about it, I guess we don’t really think on it either. We just assume it is there and to be honest up until now, we never had a reason to consider the assumption wrong. Heh.” He'd give the other a grin at that one kind of amused for whatever reason. The trust bit couldn’t be proven and they could perhaps go on and on and never find a truth to it. Maybe the guy was right. Maybe no one did trust at all. And then on the other hand, maybe they did. There was no proof either way, but the topic was interesting to pick at nonetheless. To the rest the blonde would nod. “That’s very true. I just didn’t think social trust was a big deal is all, especially when said parties have met three times already. Well twice if ya want to be technical,” the blonde would say. He understood the point of the other, but he couldn’t imagine someone just interacting without weak trust or taking an invite without some form of agreed upon trust. It seemed odd, but then again maybe that was because he let himself be slightly more trusting than his companion. Not gullible trusting, but giving folk the benefit of the doubt whether than closing up and analyzing them before taking a chance. By taking chances he learned and in turn from what he learned, he could determine if he wanted to go further with a person or not. Heh. Maybe the disconnect was indeed the way these two approached things. It seemed they were on opposites ends, but even so it didn’t seem the blonde was making a fuss about the issue with his words and was rather just calmly chatting about the matter unlike his more easily ruffled counterpart who may have bitten at this point.

Regardless of where that topic went, the blonde would become a bit quieter as time passed on and storms went by. Much more calmer than he was earlier, he would let out a light “Mmm” in response to the short answer given, his mouth a bit too full of the drink he had just placed in it. Well at least the guy was accepting his response rather than lecturing him on it, so the blonde had no issue agreeing with the statement. He had chosen to stay because he wanted to solve rather than run away from an issue like this. Even if it was uncomfortable, he preferred to try and face discomfort unless he saw no point in it or it was honestly too much. He knew when to run and had no shame about it. The little incident had almost broken him though, but he tried again anyway. At least this wasn’t a group, so he figured maybe he could handle this one-on-one...though the one he was with was a questionable challenge to say the least. He managed to survive the wave and reach a calm where he could speak. The other listened and then was just quiet?

Placing the glass on the table, Rika would let the half full glass rest between his hands that he rested flat on the table to either side of the item. He saw the other drumming the table and to stop himself from mimicking out of habit, he would lean back in his chair and literally sit on his hands for the moment. It was a small move, but maybe the guy wouldn’t notice considering his eyes were closed at the moment.

In any case, when those pretty eyes did reopen, Rika would lean slightly forward as he continued to sit on his hands thinking a bit before actually speaking. When his lips did part, there was still a slight slur there, but hopefully not too bad for the situation. “Hmm. That muss be a tough lot, but if ya know people are going to butt 'eadz with ya thin why dun ya change a bit? Not implying you do. We juss wanna know since most folk change when stuff ain’t working for them or at leass do somethink to make it work differently.”

The blonde rocked a bit, but for the most part kept it together well, his eyes still rather clear despite being tipsy. He was curious why one would stay on a path that clearly brought results that made them agitated. If it was broke you fixed it right? Or was this some way of stating something by not moving from his stance? It was a curious thing for sure, but how well the other would take to the pry was another matter.

Speaking of pries, to what was heard next the blonde closed his eyes as he let out a hum as somewhat bitter smile came to his face before it was fading as he opened one eye and focused it on the other.

“See? ’at’ss the thing though,” he would open his other eye as he shifted his weight to lean his left elbow on the table and make a rest for his head being aware of where his drink was the whole time. His eyebrows would furrow a bit as he tried to explain the next part. “We ‘ave tried. Tried a long time to prove to ‘er and many others that we were not what we seem like on the surface, buh after yearss o’ tryin’ and them not budgin’? Ya have the tendency to get fed up with it all. She is perfectly aware I can hold a conversation, but that never stopped her from sayin’ what she hass always said. Having someone new to try to get on her side just probably added to whatever party she attendss durin’ her blast mode. So ya ssee, whether I spoke up or not, the result would’ve been the same if not worse. She is juss anti-us, so we gave up tryin’ and juss dealt with it quietly. Let her believe whatever, ya know...” The blonde would shake his head at that. Honestly he did not get her issue. Yes he was different, but he tried various ways to prove he was not dumb...and even tried being her friend at one point, but each only ended up in her backstabbing him and continuing on her same bullshit train she always rode. After years of trying and trying to get teachers to help him, he just gave up and shut up. Honestly, what was he suppose to do? Hit her? He didn’t think that would’ve solved anything and to be honest he had to talk down his more fiesty side from going after her...it wasn't worth it. So he negated that route until he actually thought about giving it a whirl for real when he got agitated with her in the library and actually got in her face about it. If she hadn't run that would’ve been the first time in a long while he’d actually started a fight over something, but alas she had taken off and who knew what sort of shit stew that would cause to be created in the end. Le sigh. Some things just didn’t change...She didn’t change. It was frustrating in the long run, but what did you do when all else failed?

That aside though, Rika would tilt his head at what he heard his eyebrow raising slightly. His lips would part and the words would come out worst than before, but at least he was more or less on point.

“I suppozz we are boff in an odd boat. For the moss part, you seem to express yarself well nuff. Like I didn’t have to guess at agitation and such earlier, but maybe I have rotten luck and bring out that stuff in folk or somefink. I dun see myself better off though 'cause like showing can be just as bad as showing nuffing. In fact, it might be worse considering folk react to what they see and like assume the worse as soon as they see you crumple or something. Mind reading would be nice sometimes to make it all clear, but nope. Gotta be all complicated, so there is that.”

He would pause a bit as he swayed a bit unsteady as he remained leaned against his hand, but still did not collapse or fall in any fashion as he somehow kept his eyes on the other.

“Mmm. Th-Th-Tha…” A bit tongue tied? “...oh boyo…wordz so diffy whyb?” A low grumble of agitation with the speech issues and then a sigh as he sat up a bit and pushed his hair over his shoulder with a flick before resting his head on his hand and trying to play that off as he gave the other a light nod and a smile. “That’ss a good way to be. Let it go and all. Wiss we could do that some tibes.” Well that was a bit better than the last go.

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Sharaku Sun Nov 06, 2016 8:21 pm

Watching the blonde as the other spoke, he would only offer a somewhat thoughtful expression to it all. Apparently, they had a different take on what was seen as specific, if nothing else. Approach is a broad concept, and the approach needed differs based on situation or circumstance. That was why he said that simply asking about approach in general isn’t really all that specific. One approach may work best right now, but might not later on, when the setting is a lot different for whatever reason. Generalizing something like this can be a dangerous game. On the other hand, it is nearly impossible to just go and list the right approaches for every possible situation. Therefore, asking about a more specific circumstance in terms of approach would be much easier to answer truthfully, without accidentally telling something that may appear like a lie later on, due to change in setting.

Soon enough however, his face would become a bit inscrutable as he finally made a move to respond. ‘’That’s because approach is a broad term. The same approach is not going to always work brilliantly, because circumstances of the moment can easily affect what works and what doesn’t. I don’t think I can answer what you have asked very accurately, which is why I say the questioning is not exactly specific enough. All I can do is present the most likely probability.’’, he would state, giving a light shrug. ‘’Regardless, I was mostly just talking in general before. I’m not trying to claim you wouldn’t put in the effort. I don’t know you well enough to say yet.’’ The point was simply that such behavior was pretty common in people, and he certainly liked to be cautious. Not much more beyond that, at least not right now.

How that would play out with time was always a question, but one that would have to wait to get answered properly. Meanwhile, rough times and all that, the topic would eventually stop at the matter of trust. He would smile thinly. ‘’I prefer to assume nothing.’’ Trust was one of the things he didn’t have high expectations for right away when meeting a person, and he found it better to just remain neutral until he could be sure of whether it was worth it to truly believe either of the possibilities. ‘’Well, numbers mean little to me regardless. You can meet a person five times and still not care about them one bit. While someone else could make a huge impact within one single encounter. I’d say whether one gives any trust or not is more of a personal choice.’’ People liked to say that meeting someone several times mattered somehow, but he never saw it that way at all. It’s not about how much you happen to interact with a person. The important part is how much of an impact said interactions have on you. Because in the end, you won’t be deciding how much you like a person based simply on how much time you’ve spent with them.

When the topic moved on, he would remain pretty much silent, choosing not to comment as the other focused more on his drink anyway. At least, not until the talk shifted to something more solid. ‘’I don’t like to conform. Not unless I know the person deserves it, and even then, change isn’t that simple. Besides, why should I be the one anyway? You say most people change in such a situation, but if you imply I should do so, doesn’t that mean they’d be the ones to remain the same while I accommodate to their desires? I am willing to strike up a compromise perhaps, but I distaste being a doormat. If I bow down too early, most people will probably not even realize I’m doing something significant for their sake, and never really give something in turn. If there’s something I dislike, it’s being taken for granted all the time.’’ It can be rather hard to make things work the way they ought to. Changing sounds like an easy solution, but it hardly ever is. You either end up being frustrated because you can’t be yourself, or you give people a not so truthful idea of who you are, making your relationship with them not very genuine. It’s also way easier to end up being completely misunderstood, while the other person has next to no idea that you’re doing it for them or anything like that.

He would frown slightly. ‘’How did it start then? Something must have originally made them convinced to think so vehemently enough to not want to change their opinion. Unless it went so far just because of random assumptions.’’ Of course, some people are just asses, but the blonde saying ‘many others’ would imply there being a good amount of people. That can’t just be coincidence, can it? If so, why then? It’s unusual for so many people to not be able to be convinced that they have the wrong idea. Then again, he himself usually didn’t have the best luck with doing that either….

What came next, however…

His face would go somewhat blank for a while. He had been taking note of it even before, but it was starting to mildly bother him now. It was great that the other wanted to toss drinks and whatnot, but it wouldn’t be a very pleasant conversation down the road if he ended up having to decipher what was he even hearing. It was already nearing a headache inducing level as is. Plus, it only reminded him of why he didn’t see drinking as a very pleasing way to spend time in most cases. Sure, alcohol could taste good, but that was as much as it generally had going for it. He wasn’t fond of acting like a ditz in any way, and not being able to speak coherently was definitely on the list of things he’d rather not see himself do. Why exactly did people like this…?

On a different note though…’’That is what you think. You only have what you see to go by, however. You may assume I express myself well enough, but is that really true? Could you say how I feel without making an obvious mistake? To be honest, agitation is not really where it’s at.’’ Maybe there was a flash of that here and there, but that was only scratching the surface for the most part. If he was truly agitated, he would be acting rather differently at this point. In fact, he could probably say that something akin to mild frustration over things was basically his equivalent of a neutral state of being. Generally speaking, that is. Not necessarily true deep down, but he had the tendency to appear discontent by base, whether he was or wasn’t for real. ‘’Technically, people usually assume the worst about me without me even needing to express something extreme. So, I’m not sure what would I classify as the worse way to be.’’ He wasn’t any better off. He didn’t act like a crybaby or anything like that easily, and it’s not like he was more successful in coming across properly.

He would scrunch his nose slightly as he watched the blonde trip over his words. This was starting to go places, and he didn’t think he was liking it. For several reasons.

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Rika Tue Nov 08, 2016 12:04 pm

“Mmm,” the blonde would make the sound as he absorbed the words as he rocked slightly in his seat unable to truly hold still sober or not. His expression seemed tired and unfocused, like he wasn’t listening. The alcohol made him relax to the point that he was no longer as wound up as before; however, despite that he had processed everything clearly as he gave a nod to the other.

“The moss likely prob-probability. Well that iss oftem timess better than nuffing. Buh we get the point.”  His words would remained slurred and probably wouldn’t clear up until he sobered up, but even so it seemed the blonde was still thinking on a logical level and while he had more rum before him, he didn’t seem to be reaching for the glass or the bottle so maybe this was a sign of good things..provided his bad speech didn’t drive the other crazy.

“Thatch ya don’t,” the blonde would say agreeing in laid back tones on the matter of effort as he gave the other a rather lopsided grin that could come off goofy in a sense, but in the end was his odd way of showing appreciation to the other. Trust or no trust, he was glad this one wasn’t trying to analyze him to the point where he made dumb comments about what he would or would not due based on his words alone. He appreciated the open mindedness. Speaking of that…

“Hehe,” the blonde would grin as a hand went to his mouth to cover the grin lightly. It was a feminine move, but the male did it out of habit as he gave the other an amused expression as he considered him in a new light for a moment. Maybe this guy wasn’t as bad as he seemed. Maybe he was flexible, but just didn’t seem that way on the surface. If his open-mindedness wasn’t a lie that is. Regardless of thoughts, the giggle would eventually settle into a contemplative look as Rika leaned forward a bit thinking.

“Thin we supposse tha’ actionss...eh….well ermm…” he would pause with a small frown of thought as he ponder if that was the right word. Hmmm...Maybe it was. Anyway. “Yeah,” he would blink and look up at the other as his face became neutral again. “So like actionss seem count moar thin time. Like time iss neeb it for gettin’ ust to like anober, buuh...in the end it tellz nuffin’,” he would pause with a sage like nod as he closed his eyes for a bit and then reopening then he would snort in amusement. “Its a bit funny though ‘cause like folk like to put heavy emphassiss on time whemb it comess to relationshibs.” Action speak louder than words and time was suppose to make things better and yet….sometimes time meant nothing in the long run like the other had stated. One could spend a thousand years with someone seeing them everyday and still know nothing about them if someone were to ask. Strange, but wandering thoughts for another time.

Time topics aside, Rika would tilt his head at the other as he spoke of conforming. His eyebrows would furrow a bit as he thought. “Well nah. Not exactly. See when folk change and adapt we ain’t talkin’ ‘bout juss one person. We are talkin’ bout all partiez involved. Umless it is a control si-situtuation, then both partiez work together to figure id oub and come ub wid solutionss tat work for tim. I dun tink you should conform, buh at te samb time if ya remain stubborn and unbending, then compromise becomes hard ‘cause no one knows how to approach what appears to be a very solid wall. Granted, time and such mighd help, buhh….not everyone likez to take their time like that. So it becomes frustrating, especially if the one you are dealin’ with is trying really hard and you ain’t giving them any sign or hint you are trying to work wib them also. Sometimes bending a bit early in gamb helps in the long run. ‘Cause like what is too soon to you? It might be different for te other and in turn becomb a pain point if you ain’t budging or showing signs they are least doing something right and pleasing ya in a fashion. Ya are a bit hard to read in mah opinion.”

Despite the slurring what Rika was saying was not a lie as he honestly analyzed the topic at hand. Did he expect the other to agree? No, but at the same time he wasn’t ruffled or anything suggesting if there was any misunderstanding then he was willing to talk it out, even if he was not the best at talking properly at the moment. Now how all that was heard was handled was a different story. So hoping for the best he let his mind go elsewhere until he was asked to explain a different subject by the taller male.

Rika would blink a few times as he frowned a bit and scratched his head. “Now tat you ask, we honestly are not too sure. Ya we’ve become wilder with age, buh that is because we’ve gotten to the point where we are like fuck it when it comes to most folk and tryin’ to fight with them and their comforming rulez. But her, I tink it started back in elementary school, she alwayz liked pushing kidz around, buh Tamiki wouldn’t let her touch us, so when we ended up in separate classes from one another she took advantage of it and bullied us. Granted, we werb an easy target since we tybically ran, buh...once she corned us we did lash out...like gave her black eye sort of lashin’. Got us in trouble, buh...it seemb like the best way to get ‘er to back off. From tere things juss got worse though. Ya see, we hab always ben a difficult, buh goob student. We made goob grapes and excelled in art. Teachers woub give us praise and she hated it and so went off and started spreading rumors and what not that I was dumb and a mental case. She can be persuasive in many ways, so I am not surprise if people just sided wid her because they wuz scared of her. As we got older, it just became worse ‘cause we never conformed to te rulz and we are un of the few that iz gutzy enough to wear whatever the hell we wan and be proud of it, even if it iz a dress. We tink maybe she juss..felt better about herself by dogging me around. Ib’s annoyin’” he would say as he finished with a slight shake of his head. He honestly didn’t get the point of dragging others down just to make yourself feel better. It seemed like a waste of time really, but for whatever reason, the library chick made it her mission to continue to be a bitch and do just that.

That puzzling matter side, even in his drunken state Rika had noticed that blank look the other had given, but without him saying anything the blonde wasn’t too sure what the look was for, so blinking sleepily he’d store what he saw in the back of his mind somewhere as teh conversation began to go elsewhere and slow a bit. To the questions posed, the blonde would shake his head.

“Nein, I guebz we couldn’t. For all we know, what iz shown coub mean nuffin’ and gib no insight to yar true feelin’s,” he would say with a light smile as he continued to rock a bit in his seat and then hearing the other part he would chuckle lightly. “Maybe tere is no wimbing either way.” Expressive or a wall, neither path was good or bad in the end. It just depended on the one on the receiving end and their perception of the matter.

In any case that topic would go as it pleased and in turn come to a different sort topic as Rika saw the other’s action in response to what was at first a mystery to the blonde; however, it all became clear with the guy’s next statement. To this, the grin that was on Rika’s face up until would fade as he blinked and looked at the half full glass before him.

“Well, we ain’t gombing for a fourt glassss yet. We are debating ‘bout fimishing tis one. Though if ya wanna do tat instead yar welcomb to hab at it,” he would say gesturing to the drink before him not really thinking of what his words may imply to another. It was just an honest offer and a solution to the problem if the other wanted to take it. “We came to get to a floatin’ point and we are kinb of tere. So we ain’t going muchd furber,” he would rock a bit as he looked up at the other, curious.

A Bottle Rum KoGwkYq

“Does ib bother ya we drink like tis?”

Yeah...it would probably take some time to sober up enough to not slur, but at least Rika wasn’t the sort to drink himself silly. Honestly he came for the high and floatin’ sensation, so he knew what he needed to get there and when to stop. The other probably didn’t have much to worry about...unless he made the situation into something to worry about….

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Sharaku Wed Nov 09, 2016 6:49 pm

He would just glance the other, trying to ignore the fact that this was mildly vexing. Maybe it was just him, but he didn’t see the appeal of spending a lot of time with a non-sober person, for it wasn’t all that pleasant. Was that why people usually drank together? So they wouldn’t really care about each others' behavior and vibe once it got to that point? ‘’Maybe….’’ Was it better? Well, he didn’t know, and it probably didn’t even matter right now. That said, he would proceed to simply stare at the blonde during the odd moments of expression that followed. Frankly, he didn’t have anything to say to that, nor did he see a point in trying to come up with something.

He would frown a bit. ‘’Well, they can do what they want. But if someone tries to tell me we’re buddies just because we happened to spend a decent amount of time together for whatever reason, I won’t agree only because of that. Time isn’t everything.’’ People who jump way too soon can actually be rather annoying. Well, not always, as it depends on how they do it, but if they refuse to stop clinging to you simply because they think the two of you are close already, it’s very much a pain. Speaking of which, that was also kind of the point of the next conversation…

Oh sure, everyone being open and all that would be an ideal situation, wouldn’t it? Except for the fact that not every person had the same values when it came to that. Honestly, he sort of wanted to roll his eyes at times, when people complained how it was a pain for them because he took his time. Well, maybe it was a pain for him to rush in headfirst instead. It’s not all that simple. He would sigh faintly, just staring at a random point, not necessarily very happy with all this.

A Bottle Rum N6kf0E1

‘’Sounds like idealism to me. There are plenty people who won’t exactly bother meeting you halfway, because they believe their own way is the right one, in which case, you’ll only burn yourself by trying to be the one to change. Regardless, I concur. If people don’t have enough patience and want to be whiny over having to take a bit more time, it’s not exactly only my problem. They may see it as a pain to wait, so? Who says it isn’t a pain for me to bow down as fast as they would like me to? To be honest, I hate when people always expect to move things along fast and assume that everyone should be mellow right away for their convenience.’’

This wasn’t really about what was helpful in general. If people can complain about him being stubborn, then he could do the same in a way, since they think expecting an easy time by base is where it’s always at.

‘’Besides, sometimes I just can’t. How do I even show something that doesn’t exist? I’m usually indifferent with people until they do something that holds enough meaning to me. I don’t swoon easily. I’m not doing it because it pleases me to make people uncertain. Maybe I am hard to read, but that may be because people tend to expect to get a lot right away. If you go desperately looking for things that may not even be there, of course you’ll feel frustrated about it, thinking it’s because they are being withheld from you on purpose. Which may not even be true. I personally hold that it’s best to ask instead of feeling hurt silently if you know you won’t be able to let it go on your own. But people usually don’t, because they assume certain things are a standard, and compare everyone to that instead of maybe trying to reach out in a different way when their typical approach doesn’t work smoothly. I’m not a psychic. Even if I can guess that someone has a problem with me, I can’t tell what it is if they don’t tell me anything specific, and just act like I’m doing something wrong. So, it goes both ways in the end. You may not know how to approach, but that doesn’t mean complaining about it and steaming instead of trying to find a way will turn out well for you.’’

He would shake his head lightly.

‘’Point is, I can understand people may think that way, but there are always ways to try and see if their concerns are really as valid they initially assume. All they have to do is ask. I am willing to explain as long as I know the exact problem, and it isn’t something way too personal for me.’’

It’s pretty simple. Not everyone will behave the way you may be accustomed to, but why should that be such a huge problem to face? You have a mouth, so use it. Talking about a perceived problem can often clear things up before they become too ugly. Being afraid to approach just because someone appears to be a wall only means you may be giving up a pretty solid opportunity. You don’t know until you try. And if you don’t want to? Then be on your way. There are plenty of fish in the sea for everyone.

And guess sharks too? ‘’She’s only one person, isn’t she? Isn’t it possible to make others see she is the one being dumb? That is, if they only think so because they chose to agree with her…’’ It was weird either way. Would no one really stand against an opinion which came from one person only? Or did they really think the same as well? In which case, what was the reason then? It was mildly confusing, regardless of which way one looked at it. Then again, he wouldn’t know all the details without having been there himself…

He would huff faintly. ‘’So then, we all lose?’’ Well, assuming he heard that right. It was honestly hard to make sense of the blonde’s words at times. He was no expert at deciphering weird talk, and it was very distracting to try to do so while listening to the information being relayed at the same time. He was hoping this wouldn’t result in a headache later. That was the last thing he needed today.

Regardless, he would raise an eyebrow when his concerns were answered with an offer to finish the drink. How was that a solution anyway? There was still more in the bottle, even if the glass went out of the picture. Still, he would give the blonde an odd, unreadable look as he picked up the glass in question anyway. He wouldn’t do much with it though, simply swaying it slightly in front of his face and watching the liquid slosh about absentmindedly. ‘’Isn’t drinking from the same glass as someone else considered to be mildly unhygienic though?’’, he would ask after a moment of contemplation. Did he actually want to take it, or was he only going to ask questions? That would remain a mystery for now. He would however sigh faintly at the inquiry that soon followed.

‘’Undecided. I do think my ears are feeling bothered though. It takes some effort to both listen and attempt to understand what is being said when you talk the way you do now.’’

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Rika Thu Nov 10, 2016 7:45 am

The room was spinning nicely now. Not enough to make him lose whatever was in his stomach, but just enough to match up nicely with the loopy floating feeling he had come to get. It was a nice feeling that only had the price of dry mouth and a potential headache in the morning, but not the sort that would stop him from functioning. Feeling quite “balanced” right now, the blonde would sway lightly in his chair as his eyes drifted about the room for a bit in the silence that occurred. His eyes would return to the other when he gave the short answer, but in the end the blonde had nothing to add onto topic that had seemingly come to an end, so he’d let it pass as he blinked in his usual sleepy fashion.

“Uh-huh. Tat ib ain’t. If ib wazz tin, life woub bee eazier an’ relationssshibs lezz com-com….” He would frown at that word as he let out a light sigh. Yes. He knew his tongue wouldn’t work well with him once he started floating, but couldn’t he at least get out a the word he was thinking out in a fashion? He would focus, quite determine to finish the sentence. “Com-pli-cated. Compoocadit.” See? All better and now that he mastered that mountain on to the next one. And what a mountain it was. It had seemed they came into an interesting sort of territory with the next topic.

Surprisingly, the blonde would be quiet not interrupting the other at all as he let him speak as his floaty mind absorbed it all. When the other was done, the blonde's elegant eyebrows would rise in amusement.

“Huh. We camb agree wiff takin’ it slow. Even if we seem pushy ourselvez, we actually ain’t rushin’ much. We purrfer to take time, buh bein’ all over emotionz wize ap timez tat massage iz losp” he would say and then holding onto the edge of the table lightly, he seem to stabilize himself enough to be still. Well mostly still, now he was quietly drumming his fingers on the table seeming to be distracted by the way they glistened a bit in the light of the area. Even distracted a bit, he would continue. “Wub chu explainb though. Tat iz somefink good ta know.” The explaining actually did wonders. At least now the other didn’t seem like an unapproachable wall and his behavior became clearer. So it wasn’t that Rika had done something wrong that the snags happened, but rather this was simply how the guy was. It certainly made the field less frustrating knowing this fact about the other and maybe it could help in the long run when it came to emotions and other factors potentially going out of control over some misunderstanding. He actually appreciated this as shown by the goofy grin that had appeared on his face as he looked up at the other. “Hehe. Itz not harb to figir oub mah feelin’s on somefink. Kinda show it, buh they cambe mizreab so Ima gonna try to be clearer. And queshionss? Hehe. Arite. We’ll tryan’ ‘member to ax.”

Heh. Well something seemed to be accomplish there and look no blow out had occurred, so yay! Yes? No? Maybe. At least for now they seemed to be on pretty calm grounds. Even when the topic changed to something more personal, the blonde didn’t seem to mind as he gave a slight frown of thought.

“She ibz one buh sometines tat iz all ib takez,” he would say as he shook his head a bit. “ ‘Sides we habe many tings againz us on tat fromt. We don’t hide tat werb outta te boxz. So evem wit proof, the mazzez follow wut they felb safer wid right? So itz eazy to bow and follow te “normal” kid rather tan te odd omb that fitz no standardz. Itz like being a small fish amonk sharks. Sometinez itz better to just bear it an’ survive verzuss fightin’ a losin’ battle.” It was a annoying thing to admit, but honestly he was through trying to convince people that simply did not want to listen or even try to listen because they deemed him to odd to bother with. Sure maybe one here and there may listen, but those were few and far inbetween and one to stand by you through it all was even harder to find. Even family sometimes abandoned the odd one. While he didn’t have the latter problem, it was still a frustrating battle when it came to trying to fit in with the masses. It made him feel uncomfortable, so he gave up tryin’ and just took the lashes that came with being him. Was that really wrong to do? He didn’t think so. What was wrong was losing yourself to become like everyone else. He much rather be erased than do that.

The blonde would become a bit quiet after that one seeming to be lost in some thought before the other’s voice brought him back to reality. “Hm?” he would blink a bit disoriented as it took a moment for his thoughts to come back to him in a logical fashion as the topics changed. Heh. Went a bit too far into memory lane. Whoops! Regardless of the misstep, he seemed to recover quickly as he thought a bit.

“Welll. Dependz on how ya view it. If ya view it in a negative light then yeah, we all loze, buh I tink its alright to hab this kind of rough spot. It keebs us differen’ from eacz ofer and like makez the world more interestin’.” Yeah, the difference could be viewed in a bad light, but Rika choose not to see it that way. So they were on opposites ends of the emotion spectrum. That was alright. That shouldn’t stop them from interacting or cause either of them to make a stink about said differences. If one nit picked liked that, then the blonde honestly didn’t see how said person would make it in the world. It seemed like such a sad sort of existence….

Eh?

Golden eyes would drift to follow the path of the other’s hand as he took the glass of liquid and swished it about. To his question, the blonde would remain surprisingly serious his expression neutral as he watched the liquid in the glass and answered. “Ib you wannabe all techy, then maybe. Though unless somebone has somefink ya don’t want or like backwashed or somefink, I dun think on it much. Dija wan anofer glazz or are ya goin’ drink that?" He was honestly pretty open to sharing drinks and food from the same plate or glass with another. Maybe it was the way he was brought up, but he just found it normal to do that. Regardless of that, he seemed to be thinking in rather simply terms at the moment, so he didn’t put up much a fuss as he shifted in his seat and laid down his head on the table letting his arms remain in his lap as his hair pooled about his head. He looked up at the other to see what he was going to do with the drink. It wasn’t like he was rushing him, but he honestly wanted to know if the other was just playing with the drink or what. He was a bit confusing at the moment, but maybe that was his slightly drunk mind not really following the logic here. Ah well. Onto other matters…

The blonde would grin sheepishly at the words he heard.

“Ah...welpz. Not ssure if tis will clearb up any timb soong. Kinda of the bad of floatin’.”

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Sharaku Thu Nov 10, 2016 3:41 pm

This was kind of being a pain....

Regardless, he would do his best to resist sighing at the situation he had somehow found himself in. ‘’Right…’’ To be honest, it was rather awkward to hold a conversation when the other side could barely speak at times. On top of it being hard to understand here and there, that is. He wasn’t used to this, and he preferred that his conversation partners were at least comprehensible if nothing else. It really gives off an odd vibe like this. Still, he would say nothing on the matter for now, having other things to focus on.

When hearing what the blonde had to say to his explanation, he would at first mumble something unintelligible under his breath before giving the other a thoughtful glance. ‘’I don’t understand overly emotional reactions all that well…’’ It usually made very little sense to him. It wasn’t that he had no feelings himself or anything, but it could be really baffling when someone was choosing to throw tantrums and the like when they could just face a problem calmly. There’s a time and place for everything, and getting too emotionally can often set a situation back instead of helping in. Mainly when it slips into some sort of extreme. He honestly didn’t know how to properly deal with people who do that. Most of the time, he wasn’t the person people would look to when they wanted a pat on the back and some comfort with hugs. Not that he wasn’t able to, but it was very awkward, and he wouldn’t attempt with just about anyone. ‘’Maybe. It’s not really my expertise though, so I wouldn’t count on me getting it right too easily.’’ While he could speculate about people’s feelings, it was always a slight mystery to him, seeing as emotions have a lot of subtle nuances which aren’t picked up too easily unless you’re very used to doing so already. Or just have talent for that kind of thing.

Was that so? He would furrow his brows for a moment in thought, just giving a faint snort afterwards. ‘’Your analogy doesn’t seem to fit all that well. It matters not whether a small fish would fight or not. The sharks wouldn’t care about that. They would aim to eat it regardless, and the fish can’t successfully run and survive forever. Though, I personally say you’re only as small as you think yourself to be. If she as only one person can have so much influence, then so could anyone else. Even you. Maybe it isn’t possible to convince everyone at once, but I’m sure there is a way. Perhaps working with one person at a time would bring about a result eventually. After all, nothing is impossible.’’ It could be hard, but even hard things can be done with enough effort and determination. One just needs to find the right route to take. Assuming they are willing to do something without having the guarantee that they will succeed fairly fast. Whatever goes though….

He would tilt his head slightly as the other seemingly spaced out for a moment. When a response came however, he would just shake his head in mild amusement. ‘’I was being sarcastic.’’ And besides, even if he had been utterly serious, it’s still a what if in a sense. You can talk about one possibility without it meaning that you wouldn’t even consider another one at all. He wasn’t even all that interested in knowing whether it was a total loss or not. It could be, but does that matter in the end…?

There were more interesting things at the moment. Like the half-filled glass, for example. ‘’And how would you know? Some things aren’t obvious at a glance, and it could be rather awkward to ask about such.’’ If someone has a sickness you could catch by doing that, you wouldn’t just know about it, would you? It can always be a risk. Although, it probably wouldn’t kill you either way. He would give the blonde a somewhat pointed glance. ‘’If I catch something from this, I’m blaming you.’’ Theoretically speaking. Regardless, he would proceed to just empty the rest of the glass in one go, not bothering to take his time with it. The end result would be a momentary -_- face, but it would last only for a brief flash before he went on to concentrating on what was said next as he put the glass down on the table. He would blink as he looked upwards in thought.

A Bottle Rum WnjDrKp

‘’That’s rather unfortunate. Is it though? I don’t remember ever doing something like that when drinking….’’

And if he did, it would have to have been when he was so out he didn’t even remember such a detail. When speaking of only being slightly drunk though, he was pretty sure he didn’t speak that way…

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Rika Sat Nov 12, 2016 7:12 pm

“Mhm.” The sound was more of a light grunt rather than any intelligent response to the short answer given. The blonde only seemed to make the sound to let the other know he had been heard, but outside of that he had no reason to continue talking for he didn't have anything to expand upon, so he remained quiet. It seemed that despite his drunken state, he was not an unnecessary babbler or noise maker when it came to things. He seemed to hold on well to his logic - well whatever logic was left up there - and only lost points in the elegance and speech department. Slurred and just couldn’t be still.

Rather it was a light sway, light rocking, moving his leg lightly, or quietly drumming the table. No matter what the blonde did he could not keep complete still. It could be taken at nerves in other situations, but honestly this was just how the blonde was. Drunk or not he was constantly wiggling only being able to stop for a few seconds when he caught himself doing it or someone got so agitated that they told him to stop. Sure one could try to hold him still, but they would quickly find that wasn’t wise as the action would cause the blonde to tremble and cause great discomfort for whatever reason. It wasn’t fear or anything like that that caused the movement. No. This side of him just could not be still and to force it to do so would eventually cause pain though why that was the blonde didn’t know. Just as he didn’t know how it was it only affected this half of him, but never bothered Tamiki or seemed to be too much of a problem when it was a whole. It was one of those random mystery about itself that it tossed up there with the breaking/fusion business. They were odd aspects that it wanted to figure out, but hadn’t yet.

Regardless of the wandering thoughts that occurred when the silence came, the blonde would stay aware of his surroundings and his companion. He noticed that the other seemed a bit uncertain or maybe even uncomfortable with the situation at hand, but for whatever reason had decided to stay. It was true he could’ve poked at this, but he didn’t as his lips remained sealed until conversation picked up again. Well kind of picked up. It was a bit strange for a bit here.

To the mumble, Rika who had been somewhat gazing about would turn his eyes back to the other as his head bowed a bit as he rocked slightly in his seat from side to side. The movement aside though, his doll like eyes would remain locked on the other as he tilted his head a bit to one side and then to the other as if he was trying to hear better, but not finding what he wanted he would speak. “Whadja say?” It wasn’t a hostile question. It was just a curious poke and a sign that maybe he didn’t appreciate mumbling so much. To be honest, he much rather someone just state what was on their mind rather mumble or whisper where he couldn’t hear. He found it rude for one and it solved nothing if it was about a problem. He couldn’t attempt to fix something he didn’t know about. In any case, whether he was answered or not, the blonde would take in the other's words being quiet for a bit as he absorbed them and then thought on them a bit.

Tapping his lip with one finger, he’d watch the other contemplating something before actually speaking. This time his speech was noticeably slower than last time. “Well...we seemb to be on the opposite endz of te polez. Chu dun reab emotionz well and we are bad wiff blank facess. Chu said to ask whemb unclear, yez? While it maybe harb, try the samb for us… Can’t say it will work for anybone elze, buh...if we iz acting crazy or somefink try axing. May sound obb, buh chu’d be surprized at what happenz if chu juss ax us sometimez instead of assuming it iz all for attenzion and not hearing ya out..” Okay. Still fumbling over words, but at least he had tried harder this round to not slur too badly. He wanted to be clear that what he was offering was something that may help things between them get better. He wasn’t too sure how it would work elsewhere, but he figured that at least between himself and the other if questions were cast on both ends, then it might clarify things and help them solve things easier if they did butt heads. The only issue was the other would have to learn to deal with tears and snarling if he went that route. The creature’s emotional state could be nightmarish as much as it hated to admit it, but sometimes letting the emotion out was the only way it could express itself. If it didn’t let out, the feeling just sat internally festering into something ugly and painful that was usually released via art or something else. It was never a pretty end result when he kept it bottled, so it was best to let it out...even if someone watching would view it negatively if they did not understand or attempt to try and understand it.

Speaking of emotions and reactions, the dark hair male would certainly get one as he made his comment. “Leave mah anolobeez alome. Mah storiess are told mah way. Hmph!” He was annoyed with the criticism, but it wasn’t a malicious or flaming sort of displeasure that was designed to cause chaos. In fact despite the frown and wording, his tone was only mildly heated and the expression lasted for a few seconds showing he honestly was giving the other light push back for that one though how that went was another matter. If the other translated the situation wrong though he could very well blow up...and that would be unfortunate. However that went though, the blonde’s expression would go from annoyed to thoughtful as he moved a hand to play with his hair. He would grab a handful of golden locks and begin to pet his, an odd thing he did when thinking as his face shifted with thought. He was quiet for a while contemplating what was heard before he was actually looking up at the other again, this round shyly as he slouched back in his seat watching the other with a serious expression.

“Mmm. We suppobse you iz right. We juss….” the blonde would pause as he bit his lip as his eyebrows furrowed with thought and his eyes shifted to the side with thought for a moment. He was quiet for a few seconds before looking back up at the other still petting the locks he had in his hands as he watched the other. “We juss don’t know. It coub work...Juss hab to figure out how to triez it and with who. Nob eberyone iz gonna stick aroundz to try an' umberstand...” The words were spoken in a soft tone suggesting the matter they were on was a sensitive area for the blonde. Even so he didn’t seem to shy away from discussing it and didn't seem like he was about to blow up, so maybe it was okay to continue on as long as the other took care with how he handled it.

Regardless of what happened there though, the conversation would move on, the blonde’s face going from thoughtful and shy to confused a bit as he blinked at the other’s amusement. “Iz tat so? Huh...Welp. Good job, Rika for mizzing that.” His words were dry, but the goofy grin that came afterward showed he had taken the misstep well enough. Eh, he wasn’t perfect and didn’t always get the clues especially when they weren’t clear. Even so, he took his mistakes and rode with them and owned up to the major fuck ups so whoops there. He'd have to just be better at catching that stuff next round. Though being drunk made it questionable if he would be able to complete that task this night. Moving along to something more entertaining than slip ups though...

To the words said, the blonde would continue to give Sharaku a blank look for a bit before blinking a few times as he shook his head. “We know tat. We juss dun think on it and woub hope the one tryin’ to sharb would like not be uh azz an’ pull some shit like that. Ruin it for all ya know? Buhh..I ain’t like that. I’mb clean so no needz to worrby,” he would say and then hearing the last bit he would snort lightly as he shook his head. “Yeah, yeah. Blame Rika. We’ll takes it,” he would say grinning at first as he watched the other a bit amused...until he took that rum like a shot. The grin would disappear as he watched the other with raised eyebrows a bit stunned for a moment as he simply watched the face being made. Though when he the guy recovered and seemed to refocus, Rika started to grin again.

“Damn guy,” he would chuckle lightly quite amused at that one. You weren’t suppose to gulp the stuff down like that unless you were doing shots. Drinking like that was a sure and quick ticket to drunkenness. It made him wonder if the guy did that just to get it down or if he was honestly a beginner drinker. Outside of that amusing thought, the blonde didn’t seem to be picking on him as he looked up at the other as he spoke about the last topic.

“Eh. Ebee drunk iz different. Dependz on many tings. Like hob much they downed and how it effectzz te mind. We ain’t badly drunk, so tiz te only prob for ya when it combs to us. We ain’t violent toe. Juss gibbly and nonsensical the moar we drink if we remember correct. Only leb myself get tere twice. I usbually stay right 'ere and floatz.” Hehe. Floating was nice here and there.

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Sharaku Sat Nov 12, 2016 9:21 pm

Unlike the other, Sharaku was largely content with just sitting in place and not moving at all. While he did get occasionally restless, it was simply a state of mind, rather than something he needed to take care of right away. Besides, bouncing around in his place would really prove to just distract his own thought process and that could be annoying. Regardless, with the conversation dying for a while, he would opt to just watch the other silently, a somewhat questioning look for a while, but he wouldn’t ask anything in the end. It wasn’t really all that important at the moment anyway.

When the blonde tried to prod at him, he would offer a blank face for a moment. ‘’Nothing.’’ If he really wanted to speak, he would have said something loud enough to be heard. Sometimes, you just don’t want to discuss certain things after all. There was no reason for him to give everything away unless it was somehow important for the situation, which it wasn’t exactly right now. Nothing the other needed to know, or couldn’t do without.

He would frown slightly. ‘’I wouldn’t say hard, just mildly unpleasant. I don’t have the best experience when it comes to trying to question people who are in the middle of an emotional high of sorts. They don’t tend to react very nicely in most cases, and just get defensive over it.’’, he would shrug vaguely. ‘’And to be honest, if someone were doing that specifically for attention, I’d think them to be mildly dumb. It’s unlikely that you’d get any good attention from acting out. You’ll just make people roll their eyes at you by pulling drama on purpose.’’ Either way, it was a gamble of sorts. Most people weren’t thinking very rationally when high on emotions, and tended to misinterpret questioning as an attempt to devalue their feelings somehow. Not to say that it always happened, but it was pretty common to get kind of obnoxious about things when feeling distressed or anything like it. He was no genius when it came to that matter, and so he wasn’t always all too eager to try talking to a person who is flailing about much. Well, depending on how they do it, that is. He could handle anger outbursts and the like. It was mostly sudden bouts of crying and these ‘I am so hurt and upset right now’ emotional states that baffled him. It’s like trying to solve a rubik’s cube if you want to find the right way to approach without getting blown right back somehow.

Eh? What was up with that though? He could have reacted to that in various ways, but in the end he would choose to give a nonchalant shrug. ‘’Whatever you say.’’ He wasn’t going to argue random semantics, as it seemed to be largely unnecessary. Though he would prefer to say that analogies only had a point when they made enough sense, but would opt to not expand upon the topic, if only to keep his sanity. Sometimes it’s better to walk around an obstacle instead of trying to climb it directly, and after all that happened already, he was in no mood to land himself into another pointless verbal struggle. Or something.

Once that passed by however, he would cross his arms over his chest for a bit. ‘’Well, I don’t know about that. I have no idea when it comes to what kinds of people you are acquainted with and all.’’ If the other wanted to try, it would be solely on him, as others wouldn’t really be able to provide insight on people unless they knew them personally themselves. But if you want it hard enough, it doesn’t hurt to attempt anyway, regardless of whether you can be sure that they will listen or not. There’s probably no magic formula for that…

He would blink at the words thrown back at him once he gave his clarification. ‘’I’d say your best bet would be not taking me way too seriously most of the time. I’m usually just saying, rather than trying to be legitimately doomsday.’’ There was no denying that his statements typically tended to lean towards the more negative or pessimistic side, but most of the time, that’s just how they sounded. He did say the worse alternative, because it too was a possibility, but he usually did not actually believe it seriously. Most people didn’t realize that though, and probably thought he always thought bad about things for real. Ah well.

Compared to that, it would appear that the other was much more keen on looking towards the bright, hopeful side of things as the first one. How amusing, even though it could easily provide ‘head-butting’ material on accident. ‘’You never know. After all, it’s not like they would be the ones on the receiving end anyway, which makes it easier to not be too mindful.’’ And sometimes it could be unintentional, if the person isn’t aware they have something that could complicate matters. ‘’You’d better.’’ Well, he certainly wouldn’t be pleased if he had to deal with such after all, and the cause of it all running away on him would not be funny. That said, there were more important matters to contend with for the moment. Like the drink itself and whatnot. He would raise his eyebrows mildly at the exclamation he received soon after, clicking his tongue lightly. ‘’Yes?’’ His train of thought would switch pretty fast after that though, and he would soon ask a different question as he glanced towards the bottle briefly. ‘’What was that again…?’’ He vaguely remembered that the blonde probably said it before when he offered once they met up, but he didn’t think he got something specific from that.

Moving on though, he would furrow his brows slightly, still staring somewhere a bit upwards absentmindedly, only asking one question as a response to it all.

‘’Why?’’

A Bottle Rum Empty Re: A Bottle Rum

Post by Rika Sun Nov 13, 2016 10:02 pm

The blonde would manage to stop the swaying as his left leg went to quietly bouncing under the table for now causing his body to tremble lightly, but nothing too noticeable if one wasn’t staring too hard at him. Maybe he had caught the questioning look from the other and had stopped the swaying and did something less noticeable. Or maybe he had gotten tired of swaying. Whatever the case was would remain a mystery as he blinked sleepily at the other meeting the look with a calm gaze as his breathing and other behaviors suggesting he was quite chilled despite the fact he could not hold still. If the other wanted to ask something he could, but it seemed that he would let whatever was on his mind pass.

In turn, Rika would let the topic of mumbling slide as he received the short answer and the blank expression. Not phased by the look, the blonde's head tilted very slightly to the left as he took in the answer his expression at first rather serious as he studied the other with slightly narrowed eyes considering something and then just like that he would let it all go as his expression softened and he went back to letting his eyes wander about the area. It seemed the short answer was enough to put whatever thoughts he had going thanks to to mumble at ease. So not causing any trouble or pushing the matter forward, things would flow into silence until the topic of emotions had the blonde refocusing on the other once more.

“Tat’s why we said to try it wib us. Moss of te time the folk get worse when poked and we won’t lie. We mayb juss becomb worsts wiff a poke, buh…” the blonde would look down at the table a bit. “Try...to holm on through it, rather than jubst toss yar handz up and gibe up. It takes a mobent to calmb enuff to talk clearissh,” he would say serious at first and then snorting lightly he looked up at the other. “Though forb tis case. Tis as clearb as we’ll bee.” He would giggle lightly and then hearing the other part of it all, he would become serious once more as he frowned a bit at that one. “Dependz on te recieber an’ how the actin’ is done. We’ve seemb some get away with a lot of shit playin’ that carb,” he would say and then lower himself as he stretched his arm across the table being careful not to knock over anything, he would rest his head on his right arm so he could look up at the other as he continued. “Web seem like drama, buh honestly ain’t. Never unberstood usin’ emobtionz for attemtion. Dun make no senze to useb tem if chu ain’t actugully hurtin’ or somefink.” He would shake his head at that one. It really didn’t make sense. Why make such a scene for attention or to fool someone into pitying you to get your way. It was not a smart move in a long run. What if you kept doing that and then when you were really hurt no one took you serious because of the other lies you performed with said emotions? Yeah...it was really dumb. At least to that the pair could agree there.

Emotions aside, it would seem the small snap was handled well enough by the other. He didn’t do anything to fuel what was honestly nothing to begin with. When he gave his short answer, the blonde would do something a bit odd as he took in the words. Instead of snorting or coming off cocky about that victory, a small gentle smile would cross his lips as his eyes drift to the side and he shifted in his down position to push some stray locks out of face; however, when they did not behave, he would grumble lightly before sitting up a bit and reaching down the front of the dress to pull out a hair clip. Sitting up enough to get the feathered clip in his hair, he would go back to mostly laying on the table as things shifted from analogies to something more serious. As he heard the words spoken, he’d rest his chin on the table as his arms shifted to cross and rest on top of his head as he looked up at the other with a frown. He seemed slightly uncomfortable, but at the same time he wasn’t showing signs that he was going to bite. He just didn’t know how to express his feelings any other way at the moment. “Seeb. That’z part of te prob. We ain’t got many. In fat..we hab like tree,” he held up two fingers above his head, but that was beside the point as he let his hand collapse upon the other again. “Lesss if you ain’t countin' the dead, but tey already knowb us an’ all. The prob is tryin’ to approbch ne folk afur dig te self into a holb so ta speak. It’z gonna be harber cauze we startin’ at rock bottom and dun hab a clue where to eben go to move forward. We unberstamb tryin’ and all, buh still….Maann.” He would groan as he closed his eyes a bit tightly as he let the minor headache that came with that train of thoughts go through. His fingers would dig into his hair, pulling it a bit before the moment passed and his expression and body would relaxed again. It was an uncomfortable affair and frustrating, but even so, he seemed to hold up more or less okay as he let out a light sigh and reopened his eyes and stared ahead for a bit at some undefined point. He seemed a bit worn, but outside of that he was chilled once more. On top of that he hadn't clamed up or walled the subject off so this was good maybe.

Eh? Sleepy golden eyes would look up at the other as he spoke about his wording. Recovering a bit from the other conversation, Rika would give him a weak smile at first as he chuckled lightly. “Hehe. Arite. Web keep that in mimb,” he would say as he watched the other with an amused eye. The guy seemed like a stick in the mud, unbudging, and generally a gloomy sort, but in the end that was really just a surface view of him. While it was tough, it seemed the more Rika sat with him, the more he began to understand that truth. The guy wasn’t that bad after all. He just seemed bad. How amusing.

That aside though, the blonde would seem to perk up even more as time went on and they somehow got onto the subject of sickness and what not due to him offering a drink from the same glass he had been drinking from to the other.

“That’d be a dick mobe, buh we agree it coulb happen. Lucky for chu we ain’t pullin’ yar leg like tat,” he would say and then to the other answer given, he would let out a snort as he gave a lopsided grin and rolled his eyes a bit. Amused, he shook his head at that one. “Stob worryin an’ drink the ting already,” he would say and then watch as the other did just that. More amused than ever by the way the other chugged the drink, the blonde would shake his head as he heard the question. “Hehe. Nuffin’” he would say as he leaned back in his chair observing the other with a grin for a moment before it would fade slightly as he was asked a different question.

“Uh,” he would blink a few times to focus as his eyes drifted to the bottle. “Itz rum. Jamaican we belief,” he would pause as he leaned forward to grab the bottle. He’d bring the label closer to his face as he turned his head to the left so he could see with his better eye and then finding what he wanted he’d nod a bit as he shifted the bottle out of his view balancing it easily in his left hand as he looked over at the other. “Yup. Jamaican. Favorite type 'cause it iz smooth and taste nize too,” he would say with a smile and then becoming serious as a thought hit him he’d tilt his head at the other. “Wantz somb moar?”

A friendly offer since he did have the bottle in his hand at the moment and could just pour another glass. Regardless of where that went, he'd eventually place the bottle on the table again as another question was asked. This one would confuse him a bit as he looked over at the other with a blank look...though how much the other was paying attention to any of this was questionable considering he was looking up, but oh well. Time to answer a question with... “Whyb wha?”  ...Yup another question.
