Travel Shenigians - Trip to Japan

Post by Rika on Fri Jul 28, 2017 8:43 pm

The days leading up to the trip to Japan was in a nutshell hectic. While it was easy enough to get time off for what he needed to get done, the demon had pretty much put himself through the ringer making sure all the paperwork, pet work, and whatever else work was done and in order before he left. He gave him plenty of space to work with, but at the end of the day it didn’t matter too much. Even with everything done, the demon’s mind still went a thousand miles per hour, keeping him mostly awake during the night and when that alarm clock went off at 2 am on the day they were to leave, he was still wired and alert. He managed to get himself to more or less prepared going over his checklist one last time before, heading out the door to get to the airport on time. He would arrive and get parking squared away before making his way through the parking and down the path that led to the airport his eyes scanning for the other he was suppose to meet there as he moved.

Re: Travel Shenigians - Trip to Japan

Well, he didn't find it as hectic as the other. Then again, he didn't have as much to square away himself, due to already having a good chunk of familiarity with Japan as well as having most of the basic things he needed for this trip. Pet watching wasn't really an issue for him to arrange either, thus he was fairly chill about this. Albeit, the idea of an extremely long trip did not please him too much. He's done this once before to get from Japan to here, and it was quite the bombshell drop if one wasn't prepared for the combo of a very long flight and an even longer time jump. Ah bloody hell.

Nevertheless, he would need to set out earlier than the demon, seeing as he was using public transport to get to the airport. No way in hell was he going by his own devices. You can't come in a car or such, cause then you'd have to leave it there at the airport until you get back two weeks later. Uh, bad idea, kinda...if they even allowed one to hog a parking space there for so long at once. There was taxi too, but he was honestly just fine with buses anyhow.

In any case, he would get there maybe 10 or so minutes before the other, and take to waiting beside the entrance to to main airport building, leaning against the wall and watching the night sky for now.

As the demon came across the parking lot it would be hard to miss him, his familiar pink hair still noticeable in the lights that lit the area. Even if the hair didn't give him away it seemed the demon was a bit more bold than one would give him credit for. Despite knowing he was going to be around people, the demon didn't hide who or what he was. his ears were still visible and his tail hung easily enough behind him as he pulled along the bags he needed.

It would be an easy enough task to find the other as he got closer to the entrance, the guy's height and skin tone easy enough for his eyes to make out in the dark. Feeling a tad bit better, he would approach the other.

"Hey there. I see you managed to beat me here," the demon would say, giving the other a smile despite being wired.

''Being early is never a bad thing.'', he would comment offhandedly as he turned his gaze towards his incoming company. It was the truth though. He'd rather be early and wait than come last minute and then be all over the place trying to figure out what you need to do at the last moment. Less stressing is always a better option, right?

Regardless, he would raise an eyebrow slightly as he looked the guy over briefly. ''You sure going like this is a good idea?'' You never know what kinds of people you'll run into. He personally wasn't very interested with dealing with some freaked out people. Plus, they'd definitely have to come into direct contact with airport/plane service...and don't they do checks before letting you through security and onto the plane? It was a question whether they wouldn't inquire about looks like that.

"Well that is true," the demon would say as he came to a stop a respectful distance from the other, his tail flicking a bit as he observed the other. When the other gave him that odd look and question him a second later, the demon would blink a few times before giving a sheepish smile as he rubbed the back of his head.

"Honestly, I wasn't even thinking about that when I walked out the door; however, I can see your point," he would say as he let his hand drop back down to his side. As he did this, his cat like ears would vanish, the various earrings sink into human like ears that could be seen under his hair. His tail would also vanish, the fish bone tail ring clipping to his pants to his left side as the pink fluff vanished. With that out the way, the demon would brush a piece of hair behind his hair nervously as he glanced up at the other. "Better?" he would ask, feeling a bit odd being so plain, but hey had to blend in and doing it out here before they went in was better than trying to explain or risk odd looks later, right?

''Sure.'' Was there anything else he could even reply to that? That said, he personally wouldn't think the guy looked any plain despite this. Not with that kind of visage, from colors to the amount of earrings and whatnot. Even that would stick out, but at the very least not in a way that would weird people out. Well, shouldn't. If someone had a problem with pink hair, then guess that was a thing, but it would be an odd one.

Well there was many things that could be said about an appearance and the demon honestly hoped if he looked weird or something was off the other would say something about it. Even more so when he wasn't even intentionally trying to draw attention. That aside, the other's words seemed to ease his fidgeting a bit as the demon nodded.

"Alright. Let's go then," he would say and with that he would head towards the entrance, so they could get the process of getting through security and what not done....and that was always a fun process. Taking off all metallic items was always a pain in the ass and then having to put them back on after getting your stuff back was another issue. One that the demon was huffing about a few minutes later as he stayed by the chairs and out of the way trying to get everything back on while he waited for the other. He had managed to get most things on, but was currently fighting with a fish bone earring as he waited and looked around. Why couldn't they make something that you could through with the stuff on? Man....

Re: Travel Shenigians - Trip to Japan

Post by Sharaku on Sat Jul 29, 2017 6:40 pm

Heh. Well luckily for him, he wasn't the type to load himself up with metal before going on a flight. After all, it was common knowledge that you'd then have to put it all down if you wanted to get through. The less you had on you in the first place, the less of a hassle going through the process. If he was the other, he would certainly not take a handful of earrings to an airport like that. It's just a pain.

Of course, everything isn't avoidable, so he still got a couple items he had to move around, but it wasn't that bad. Most of the stuff he had was simple to put back on, so he wasn't complaining too much. In any case, he would eventually make his way to stand beside the demon with a somewhat amused look. ''Having fun?''

Well the demon knew of the hassle of having the items on, but at the same time wouldn't dare leave without the jewelry, so yes he would suffer a bit of agitation, but by the end of it all, he would get over it. The demon would continue to fight with the last earring finally getting it on just as the other came over to him and asked his question. Golden eyes would moved to look up at him as he pushed back a bit of hair from his face and gave the other a small smirk. "Always? How about you? Entertained?" He took not of that amused look on the other's face after all.

Re: Travel Shenigians - Trip to Japan

Well sure...but you didn't have to have your jewelry on during the check and flight. Could always keep it in the baggage or somewhere for the duration and put it on later. Well, that would still mean taking it on and off, but at least it would save the frustration of doing it on short notice right there? Although, he wasn't sure just why the guy needed so many of them in the first place. That's a pain anytime you have to take them off for something.

''A little.'', he would snort faintly before looking around the area they were in currently. ''How much time do we have left to wait?''

Re: Travel Shenigians - Trip to Japan

Post by Rika on Sat Jul 29, 2017 7:39 pm

That was true. He could've put it all in a bag and dealt with a later, but then again, he rarely took the items off to begin with, so it wasn't like he had to contend with this too often unless there was some place he simply could not wear his stuff, so that was a plus. As for why he had so many, well one could say he just liked the look of the jewelry upon him or the light tinkle they caused when they clicked together. In the end, it was a mystery that only the demon had the answer too.

"Heh," the demon would say with light shake of his head before refocusing as the other asked his question. Looking down at the thin wrist watch he wore, he would respond back. "One hour and 30 minutes. Maybe 20 or so depending on how long it takes us to find the gate."

''...great, so time to be sitting ducks.'' And this is what sucked about needing to be in a good 2 hours early. If you got things squared away quickly and without issue, you ended up waiting your ass away. Not the most pleasant when it came to flights at late hours like these. Surely everyone would prefer to get some more sleep over this. He would stick his hands into his pockets with a sigh. ''Well, I think I'm going to go buy myself something to drink. You can wait or tag along, up to you.'' The other might want to nap until they had to go or something, so he wasn't going to force the other to tail him the whole time.

Re: Travel Shenigians - Trip to Japan

"Pretty much," the demon would say. There was nothing they could do about that. Once they were in they were in and that was that. In any case, the demon would look around the airport a bit before his attention turned back to the other as he mentioned getting a drink. "Mmkay. I am going to find a spot to sit down." Perhaps a surprising response considering the demon could at times seem to be like the sort to tag along just so he wouldn't be alone; however, today the other would get lucky as the demon moved to find a chair while the other went to get whatever he was going to get.

While the other was busy, the demon would find a seat near the window that looked out at the runways and the planes. Sitting in one of the seats, he would lean forward a bit resting his arms on his knees as he clasped his hands together loosely. Turning his attention to the darkness outside he would wait for the other, his left bouncing slightly with the light movement of his left foot. For now he was staying up.

''Just don't wander somewhere I won't be able to find you.'', he would remark before heading off. Well, it wasn't likely due to how striking the other's looks were, but you can never know for sure, right? He wasn't familiar enough with this airport to know where to search in case the guy chose to plop down at some obscure corner of the place.

In any case, he would be gone for approximately 15-20 minutes, before coming back around with a can of something that looked like beer in one hand, and some sort of baguette in the other. It seems that drink has turned into drink and food in the mean time. To be frank, he wasn't that fond of plane food they gave out during flight...and they were going to be stuck in there for about 13 hours and then probably busy for a couple more with getting to their hotel and settled properly. Might as well ensure a non-complaining stomach ahead of time. Or try to, at least. He would move to stand by the window, staring out thoughtfully. ''Anything interesting happening?''

Re: Travel Shenigians - Trip to Japan

"I won't." Was the response back as the demon moved off on his own. He wouldn't exactly wander too far anyway, not wanting to add a panic attack onto already being wired.

That aside, he would wait quietly by himself looking out the window watching the occassional plane come in or take off. Soon they'd be on a plane and taking off too going to a place he had never been before. It was kind of nerve wrecking in a good way and a bit unreal. He had wanted to go to Japan for so long, but had never taken the step to do so and now that he actually was going it took a moment for all to set in. It was kind of surreal for the demon, but he managed to keep all his thoughts inward with only the quiet bounce of his leg being an indicator he was not exactly calm. Even so at least he wasn't spazzing out and his breathing was normal enough. He was just having some issues with being still a the moment.

In any case, the demon would continue to look out the window until the other came back with his drink and food. That was probably a good idea to eat before leaving on a long flight; however, the demon couldn't bring himself to do that at the moment and probably wouldn't be able to eat much until they were on the plane for bit anyway. Trying to force himself to eat something wouldn't go well either, so the demon would pass on the idea for now as his eyes drifted to the other as he settled by the window.

"No. Just a plane or two taking off and landing," the demon would being and then eyeing the drink he would raise an eyebrow. "You drinking already?" A poke at the appearance of he can more so than actually thinking the other had a beer or something like that. If he did well that was his business. Everyone had their own ways after all.

Re: Travel Shenigians - Trip to Japan

''What a bore.'' Ah well. Not that he actually expected something too interesting to be happening that late at night. At an airport no less. Then again, this was going to be a long while of boredom one way or another, as there wouldn't be much entertainment to be found on the plane itself either once they set off. Sure could look out of the window, but what can you even see when the plane is high up in the clouds? Blank sky and maybe said clouds at best. Nothing too interesting. Might as well just sleep through most of the flight. Which would maybe happen. He wasn't sure just yet. He wasn't that extremely tired so far, so it was a question that would remain up in the air for the time being.

Anyhow, he would blink at the following question as he turned his gaze from the window to the guy briefly. ''It's non-alcoholic. I didn't want any of the sweet-ass sodas they had so this seemed like the better option.'' He wasn't about to try and get himself drunk at a time like this, no. That would probably not be a very good idea, in all honesty.

"That is typically what happens when you are up before the rest of the world." The demon was typically still working at this time, the flow of people slower, but still there since the city didn't sleep. There was always something happening and someone was always out; however, here at the airport? Not so much. Sure there were some people around, but in comparison to a day flight considerably less. So the time would drag on and the flight might be just as quiet as well considering there was a high chance for the demon to actually fall asleep thanks to not being able to sleep and being wired. He was already feeling a bit of the exhaustion now, but it wasn't enough to put him out.

It was just enough to make him slouch a bit in the seat he was in and stretch out a bit as he looked up at the ceiling before looking back at the other as he answered his question. "Heh. Not the soda fan or the one get a drink to calm themselves before a flight huh?" the demon would ask with a faint smile.

''I'm up at night often. I don't really go outside though.'' There wasn't much to do there, to be frank. What would he do, wander the streets like some vampire or something? Nah, no point. It was better to just stick to staying inside when it was that late unless you had a reason to be going somewhere, like now for example.

Eh? He would blink at the other slightly. ''Most of the sodas are meh. Though...I'm calm as is. Why do you think I'd be worried enough to need a drink?'' He was chill. This wasn't really new to him, and it wasn't like he was scared of heights or flying. No big deal. It was maybe a bit annoying due to all the time mishaps, but that was not a reason to be skittish.

"I am typically working around this time and if not walking home. Its nice being out at night. Very peaceful."  Even more so after being around people for long hours. The walk always relaxed him and once home he just de-stressed and relaxed until he fell asleep. However, being peaceful after work was one thing, but being stuck in one place due to a time gap at the same time with nothing to do? That was a different story. Anyway....

"I can see the point there. I think the only one I care for here and there is Dr. Pepper or maybe a Root Beer." He liked a sweet here and there and sometimes a little soda was all it took and at other times something more powerful. That aside, the demon would shrug at the question. "Some people drink for calmness, some drink to just have a taste before getting on board. You had chosen something that looks similar to an alcohol beverage so I was just curious," the demon would say as he turned his gaze back to the ceiling as he rested his hands across his stomach. While his leg was still his hands that were clasped together did fidget a bit, but perhaps that was out of boredom though.

''I have no reason to be outside at night.'' And while one could go for a walk, it probably wasn't the best choice of time for that, even if you happened to not be sleeping for whatever reason.

He would shrug. ''I'll maybe drink Sprite. But I'm just not big on sweet fizzy drinks in general.'' He was fine with sweet...but most sodas were carbonated, and that was an extra quality he was not too fond of. Some things could do it well, but very sweet plus bubbles was just not for him. Outside of maybe beer, he always preferred to take something non-carbonated. He would snort. ''Even if it was, one can is abysmal, unless I had a can of hard alcohol for some reason. I did take beer because it was the best looking option, but I didn't even bother to go for an alcoholic one. It's pointless.'' Unless one wanted to sit and drink at least a couple of them. Even then, straight into glass was better. Canned beers were usually the less percentage ones.

"You may have no reason to be out, but some of us do," the demon would say with a soft snort. Unlike the other, his job kind of forced him to that safe or not since due to how close it was there was no point and trying to get a vehicle of any sort to travel back and forth.

"Sprite is alright, but I must admit sodas don't beat the coffee or teas." He can handle the fizz, but more often than not would drift towards a coffee or tea or even lemonade before reaching out for a soda. In any case, the demon would move his head slightly to look over at the other a small smirk coming to his face when he heard the words spoken.

"Ah. That's right. I forgot you needed the stronger stuff to actually feel something," he would say before nodding a bit when the other mentioned his choice. "Well that is fine. I was just curious is all. In any case, can you do me a favor and poke me when it is time to go to our gate? Not sure if I can sleep here, but I am gonna close my eyes a bit if you don't mind." He highly doubt he could sleep in the airport due to being paranoid about missing a flight...even with someone there, but perhaps closing his eyes a bit and just taking a moment to breath could take away some of his anxious energy.

Re: Travel Shenigians - Trip to Japan

Post by Sharaku on Sun Jul 30, 2017 4:57 pm

''I never said anything about other people.'' He was just saying he personally didn't. Not like he was implying that meant no one else should have their reasons to be outside at such a time. To each their own, right?

''Well, I do like colder drinks. Just not all this fizzy nonsense.'' Coffee and tea was great alright, but he didn't always want a hot drink...and those two tended to not taste that great when left to cool off too much. In that case it was honestly better to get something that is made to be cold from the get-go.

He would huff a bit. ''Are you saying you would get drunk from one can of beer?'' He would think that it would have next to not real effects on just about anyone. It really wasn't that strong. Beer in general was pretty much the weakest alcoholic drink anyway..maybe alongside some wines. It took more of it to be effective. He would raise an eyebrow slightly. ''Didn't you sleep at home? Well anyway, I think I'm going to look around the stores here meanwhile. You can sleep if you want, but I'd rather not start sitting my ass off already, considering we'll be stuck doing that in the plane for about half a day.'' He didn't plan on starting that early. All those hours would be more than enough for him. Even more so, considering that with his height, it won't be that easy to fit his legs in the limited space provided between seats either. He didn't particularly enjoy that part...

Re: Travel Shenigians - Trip to Japan

"True. You didn't," the demon would say as he shifted a bit to get more comfortable in his chair. "Though I wasn't implying that you were talking about others either with my words. I was just speaking in general." Ah well. To each their own indeed. He wasn't trying to start a debate with this one.

"We like coffee and tea cold, but mostly find ourselves drinking cold teas. We can drink lemonade and juice, but that is very rare. Soda pops up on occasion, but only if I am craving one for some odd reason." He was actually pretty aware of what he was putting in his mouth even if he wasn't a health nut. Outside of that he liked coffee and tea equally so having them cold or hot didn't bother him too much. Though he was a bit picker on teas when they were hot, but that was a tale for another day.

Anyway, the demon would hear the question pose and shake his head. "No. Beer wouldn't do much for us in either the relaxing or getting drunk department. Unless it was super potent, it just like bitter water most of the time for us." It could be he just encountered the wrong brand of beer, but he never really cared too much for it even if he could drink if it was presented somehow.

That aside, the demon had just closed his eyes when the other asked his next question. To this the demon would shake his head once more as he opened his eyes again. "No I didn't," he would begin and then sighing inwardly, he would sit up as he looked over at the other. "Well if you are going to do that, then I guess I'll try and find something to for myself drink wise and maybe food too. Do you want to meet back here? At the gate or what?"  Well if the other was going to wander the demon wasn't going to stop him, he just wanted to know how to find the other again if they did decide to separate.

''I thought that was already obvious after you gave your own reasons to be out.'' That alone said not everyone stayed in at night, right? He didn't see much point in hammering it in further beyond that. It wasn't like he didn't get it. Whatever though.

He would make a slight meh face. ''I like my coffee and tea hot. That's what most of them are meant to be drunk as. I'd rather go to something else if I want cold.'' As long as it wasn't one of those sodas, unless he had nothing else available. Lemonade or juice wasn't a bad option.

He would snort with a light shake of his head at the beer comment. ''Well, it is meant to taste bitter. If you don't like that, then maybe beer isn't for you.'' Most of them had that bitter taste. Aside from maybe the fruit flavored brands and whatnot. But those honestly tasted more like some sort of lemonade/soda mix at that point. Guess that was a good type of beer for people who couldn't stand its basic taste.

Anyway...changing decisions fast, are we? ''Well, good luck then. This is going to be a heavy trip time-wise.'' Getting some sleep beforehand was probably a good idea in this case. Yes, one could sleep some on the plane, but it couldn't be guaranteed, and it would likely not be the best quality sleep either. And then you'd get thrust right into dealing with the jet lag and all that. In any case, he would shrug lightly. ''We'd meet up on the plane regardless. I don't know how long will I be walking about. You have your phone, right? You can just buzz me about where you'll be once you're done with your stuff.'' He had no idea how things would go, in all honesty. They shouldn't really have much trouble meeting up though.

"Meh. I guess I wanted to be sure we were on the same page. Forgive me if it was a bit overboardish." The demon wasn't always sure where to step when came to certain conversations with the guy, but at least this wasn't something earth shattering, so it was what is was.

The demon would hum at that one. "Mmm. Well, I suppose that could be one way of looking at; however, I like some things that move out of their boxes. In any case, there are many other options so I suppose we all pick what we like in the end." And that was pretty much the case with most things wasn't it? Speaking of preference the demon would blink at the snort he got in return for the beer comment as he looked up at the other. "Maybe it isn't. I can down if need be, but most of the time I am like meh when it comes to the stuff." He preferred his wines or sweet stuff, with the only exception to the rule being his sake which he could handle well enough regardless if it had a bite or not.

Anywho, it may have seemed like a fast change of mind, but honestly the demon was doing what he was doing to try and get himself to relax before the flight. He already knew it was going to be a long flight and running off of fumes wasn't wise considering the matter. Still he would not be sleeping so easily without something to bring him down from being wired. The demon would get to his feet and stretch as he responded back.

"Yeah. Tell me about it," he would say and then letting his hands drop back to his side, he nod at the others words. "Yeah. Alright. I can buzz you my location then when I resettle then." That was sensible enough. In any case, if the other didn't have anything else to say, the demon would eventually wave at the other before moving off to find a drink or something.

About 15 minutes later, the demon had found a seat between the terminal that they were suppose to go out of and another and had settled. After texting the other his location. He would put his phone away before focusing on drinking some of the drink he had. It was a hot coffee, but not one heavily caffeinated or sweetened. He would drink the warm liquid, the familiarity easing his nerves a bit. It would take about 5 minutes before he was comfortable and then getting sleepy, he would place the cup under the chair he was on before stretching out a bit along the seats making sure to only take up one extra before actually closing his eyes and dozing off.

And whenever the other came back to find him that is exactly how he'd find the demon - his expression relaxed, but his breathing pattern one of pretty deep sleep showing just how exhausted the guy was.
