Re: Now the game's on
When it came to Rika and his mind set on who he was, he was pretty certain he was not the blonde that had come before. He understood that he wasn’t the blonde and didn’t really compare himself with the other. Instead his mind focused on the experience left behind and how things could go wrong. He knew he shouldn’t worry about the past or some error someone else had made, but even knowing this it was still a battle of simply letting it go and moving on. He worried about repeating the same mistake or something worse. His worries and fears piled on top of each other and in the end did make things way more threatening and larger than they needed to be. So the first round or two the demon was struggling with high anxiety that caused tension here and there; however, as time passed and the demon had a moment or two to calm down, he began doing things to counteract the worry...like telling himself it was okay that the other gave a vague answer to his question.
His initial response was to try and over think what that vagueness meant. He didn’t completely understand it and to be honest he wanted to dig and pry at it until he got a direct answer. His worry demand certainty, but instead of submitting to it, he had forced himself to stay with the uncomfortableness of uncertainty. His answer back hadn’t been a solid “yes, I understand”, but rather the sort of okay used when even when not exactly clear of the meaning he decided to let things just go their course and unfold at their own pace rather than pounce on it and demand the answer right then in there. His mind naturally rebelled against this as the panicky side of him told him that he had to worry and that if he let it go he’d regret it. It nagged at him, pulled at him, and stressed him out badly, but the demon did not bend to it or try to brush it off.
Instead in that uncomfortable silence that resulted from his answer, he would take a moment to look around the area his eyes focusing on things around him: the trees, the birds, the insects, the smells, the sounds, the other he was moving along side of. He used what was around him to ground himself in the now and with a deep yet quiet breath, he mentally told himself to let it all go and not worry. It was difficult, but if the other paid attention or was perhaps sensitive to the air, it could be noticed that the demon’s body became less stiff and his behavior less skittish as he relaxed a bit more with time. Sure he had to roll his shoulder a bit to ease the physical tension there, but outside of that no breakdown or serious panic attack came from it all, so perhaps this small step was good….even if it was awkward as hell to actually do in front of another. The things that happened thanks to the way he thought…Ah well moving on.
From that small issue bigger ones would come up and while Rika had tried to go a different path with a bit of thought he found that perhaps bowing to the other’s request to stay where they were was a better field to play on. After all, some heavy things were being tossed around and while it was true the trek to where he was going was indeed long, perhaps it wouldn’t have been long enough and the end result more harmful to the situation when they reached the end. Multi-tasking would probably get them into trouble, so agreeing to stay probably kept them on the more focused path. A path that Rika did not mind taking when important things like this was afoot.
To the speech that followed the demon took note of how the other didn’t respond to his short comments, but at the same time did not feel bother by it. The guy had a lot to say, so he was okay with him finishing before responding. He could wait and it wasn’t like most of his short answer contributed much outside of agreeing with some points anyway.
Letting that pass by easily enough, the demon would in time give his response to the question posed and in turn the other actually snorted and posed a different question that made the demon look off to the side a bit as he shook his an amused smirk on his face at the idea. Would he actually do it? Well… The demon would look back at the other as the grin settled into a genuine smile.
“It is tempting to do right this instant, but you are lucky there are bigger fish to fry at the moment. Can’t have either of us getting distracted just yet,” he would say with a wink. His answer honest. He could’ve easily kissed the guy and played if he wanted to, but considering what was on the plate right now he didn’t think that sort of distraction was needed at the moment. So for now, he put the impulse on a back burner to better keep focus on the task. Though just because he did this, did not mean he was closing down play completely, he just choose to play a bit differently this round versus more hands on. Perhaps later when there wasn’t so much seriousness on the table they could do something more. One could only wait and see the truth of that path.
Regardless of that play, Rika would eventually get to his own small speech and in turn get a stare down for what he said. He didn’t particularly feel threaten by the state or the silence, but rather he was curious about what was going on in the other’s head as he tilted his head a bit at the other as he continued to recline in the air; however, before he could consider poking the other about the matter, the guy huffed and spoke once more.
To what was heard, the demon would close his eyes for a moment as he shook his head with a light chuckle. The irony at play here. It was almost sad and embarrassing in a way, but the demon took the slap easily enough as he reopened his eyes and focused on the other. “I suppose I really didn’t have to worry after all,” he would respond back gently. It really was comical when he reflected upon it.
Speaking of reflecting, the next part caused the demon’s smile to fade as he absorbed the words. Not be afraid...That was easier said than done and yet...the other was right. It was stepping off the cliff and falling into the unknown that made them move forward. The struggle made them stronger...and it seemed the other was asking him to take that step and try with his next action. The demon would look at the other’s outstretched hand for a second feeling unsure of the matter as his anxiety and panic flooded forward. Even if the other said he didn’t need to be afraid, that did not change the fact that he was indeed still that. Scared. The question was would he let his fear control him? The answer would be placed on hold for just a moment as his eyes drifted back to the other’s face as he gave an answer to the question posed.
To what was heard, the demon would find himself pushing down his fear as he made up his mind. With a light nod, he would return the smile with a somewhat nervous one of his own. There was no need to act like something he wasn’t so he didn’t as he unfold himself unfolded himself and drifted closer to the other. “That sounds like a plan then,” he would say, slipping his pale hand into the other’s. It seemed he had decided to walk off the cliff of uncertainty. The question is would he regret it?

Re: Now the game's on
Did he pay attention or not? The answer to that question would remain more or less a mystery, since even if he had, he didn’t really make it known in any way or form. Perhaps it wouldn’t have been necessary anyway, as he would only be putting himself at the risk of making it more awkward for the other, were it to look like the demon was being watched and whatnot.
Nevertheless, the mountains of odd silences would eventually pass by as they finally took it upon themselves to have a talk about what was happening. Which seemed to go surprisingly well for the moment. On the outside, at the very least, but hopefully what went down would be enough to help things move on smoothly in the future, if nothing else. He would raise an eyebrow slightly when Rika answered his inquiry about the sudden kissing admission. ‘’Luckily for you, I can agree with that for a few reasons.’’ Getting distracted would indeed not help the situation much at all. Plus, as amusing as the idea sounded, he wasn’t quite sure he would want it to happen this way, right before the important stuff. It may not matter much to the demon, but well, he hasn’t done that before and he wasn’t sure whether that would really be a good moment for first times. Then again, he couldn’t know, but he would still rather not take the risk just because, and they surely had plenty time to do it later, were the situation come up again in some way. He wasn’t the one to purposefully hurry anyway, and he’d be willing to wait until it felt right to do that, rather than going for it simply for the sake of amusement or playing around.
Moving on to the actual problem discussion however, things went quite well for the given moment, or so it would appear. While he could make decent guesses here and there, he still wasn’t a master on picking up people’s moods on spot. Hopefully though, there wasn’t anything huge he was actually missing. Not that it was impossible, knowing him. ‘’You probably didn’t.’’, he would comment back with slight amusement. Yes, he could probably sound like he expected a good deal sometimes, but it wasn’t really his intention to make people worry. Usually, at least. Regardless, point was that he just wanted people to do their best within their own abilities, while it often came off as if he was trying to make them go above and beyond somehow. Ah well, different levels of understanding could be such a pain, couldn’t they?
That said, he was aware that the guy was at the very least uneasy with what happened after. And he had more or less expected that kind of response after all that he knew of the demon so far. That was also the reason why he was doing what he was at the moment however. Whether it would amount to something though was something that remained to be seen. He could try to strategize all he wanted, but come matters would always remain unpredictable to a degree. Still, doing something was better than not even trying, right? Well, it should be. Thankfully, the guy didn’t choose to nope out and actually came around to take the offered hand…
He would give a remark in return, offering Rika an odd smile for a moment…before pulling on the hand he had in his grasp. To be honest, he wasn’t sure whether he would regret doing this or not, but for this once he chose to not argue himself and just go along with what his mind came up with first. Plus, based on what he’s gathered so far, the demon wasn’t quite bothered by touch all that much, thus he didn’t think he would offend the guy greatly or such. Besides, if Rika wanted to pull away, he wouldn’t protest him. Regardless, what he actually did was using the moment of surprise to pull the guy close to him, which should arguably not be too hard since the demon was floating at the moment, and didn’t have solid ground under his legs to use as a brake. Having done that, assuming it worked well enough, he would let go of the guy’s hand momentarily, in an attempt to wrap his arms around the demon in a hug of sorts. Yes, he was actually doing that. Or trying to, at least….

Re: Now the game's on
If Sharku did take note of what Rika was doing, then the demon was very happy that the guy didn’t say anything or stare him down with worry or concern. It was already embarrassing enough that he had worked himself up to a point that he had to even perform such actions to somewhat distress, so having someone not looking at him weird or prying into his well being was a good thing here. It made doing what he did easier to get through and moved on.
Despite the subject matter that came up and the worry it caused, the demon was very happy that the matter had passed peacefully enough for the time being. There didn’t seem to be immediate sparks or headbutting, so that was an accomplishment in his book considering this whole thing could’ve blown up rather easily if either of them had taken to what was said in a negative fashion or took to closing themselves off to the others opinions. It went smoothly though and in turn brought a form of joy and warmth to him as his shot nerves settled a bit more. While he didn’t expect everything to go smoothly all the time, if they could keep it like this most of the time and work through the messes then perhaps they would be alright after all. It was still hard to tell since things were just beginning, but this did bring a bit of optimism to the situation for the demon.
Happy as he was though, he kept it well underwraps as serious topics passed into minor play with the kissing topic. To his response, he would take in the reaction given and only give the other a smile in turn as he let out a light hum that suggested without words that he was content enough with what was said. They were on the same page there, so there was no need to expand there. Besides….as much as he actually wanted to kiss the other, he honestly wouldn’t do that so soon. A cheek kiss might occur if the situation somehow flowed that way. That was something simple and with a less powerful meaning than a full lip kiss. A meaning that he wasn’t quite sure if he was ready to share or not with the other. Yes, he liked him, but he much rather get to know him and be a bit more sure before taking that sort of step. Beside, despite how he could appear at times he was far from rushing things. He would just take this one step at a time and see what happened from there.
In time, play would die out as problems came to the table to be discussed. Problems that while panic inducing for the demon at first, were things he found that maybe he didn’t need to stress out at all about. Sure there were some things that probably needed to be worked on on both ends; however for the moment the two males had seemed to come to calm point and things that at first seem troublesome rolled away without much issue...at least for now it did anyway.
“Heh,” Rika would respond back to the other as he rubbed the back of his head with a sheepish smirk on his face. This guy... he was intimidating and hard to read, but in the end as much as he tried to read the guy and make a guess what he expected, the demon found himself wildly wrong. The guy was not high maintenance per se and was actually asking for something less complicated than what the demon thought he expected. He wasn’t asking him to bring him the moon and sun, he was just asking him to chill and be him. Something he believed he could manage if he could just get the former part of the equation to work out.
Even with all this good happening and bringing him joy, the demon was still uncomfortable and nervous simply because uncertainty was there and for the moment he did not know how to handle it well. He was trying, but it still lingered and held onto him even when the other offered his hand to him. He hated displaying such a trait, but he couldn’t shut it off, so instead of pushing it away he just dealt with the fact it was there and reached out to the guy’s hand anyway. Maybe he was challenging his fear or trying to show that even flawed he was trying to make the effort here.
“Perhaps they are,” Rika would say giving a small smile back in turn for the odd one given. He wasn’t sure what that meant, even less so now that the guy had his hand. Even so, the demon did not try to pull away thinking for a moment that maybe the guy just wanted to hold his hand for some odd reason, which was fine. He had no qualms if that was the case; however, before he could determine if that was the case or not, the guy would tug on his hand with enough force for pull him towards him, a task pretty easy to do when there was no ground to stumble upon or cause friction.
Before the demon could think to recover from that, the other released his hand and then wrapped his arms around him to pull him into a hug of sorts. Too stunned to resist, Rika let himself be pulled into the embrace and for a moment was tense as his mind took a moment to understand what was happening.
Okay. He was in the other’s embrace. An odd place to be in considering that earlier there was such a fuss about the bike, and yet the demon did not mind this. In fact, after the initial shocked wore off, the demon found his tension slowly leaking out of him as he stopped flapping his wings and lowered a bit to place his feet on the ground and then with a way more natural movement, he would move his arms and wrap them around the other as he leaned his head against the guy’s chest and closed his eyes.
“Just give me a moment,” was all he could manage to say, his voice a whisper as he held onto the guy with a firm yet gentle hold. It wasn’t that he was being clingy or anything like that. No. He was actually settling with the idea that this small action meant he did not have to be afraid or panicky. That it would be alright. Some part of him understood this easily, but it would take longer for his mind to settle with it and in turn his body relaxed. While it wasn't it instant, slowly the demon would relax in the other’s embrace as he kept his eyes closed and focused on the other’s warmth and heartbeat. It seemed that if the guy’s goal was to calm Rika’s nerves down, it was working. So maybe things were working according to plan for him after all.

Re: Now the game's on
On the same page…more or less, at least. While it was true that he wasn’t hurrying with it all, he didn’t quite mind the idea either. For as long as there was some meaning behind it when it happened, rather than it simply being a result of playing around and nothing more. And if he was to be honest, he would probably find cheek kissing more awkward by base. Maybe it was because of the vague meaning it held, since it was an action even friends could do, or something you could see parents doing to their children, but it was hard to tell. Then again, perhaps it would all depend on the execution, as anything can turn out to be super awkward when done in a way that makes it come off so.
The rest of the…problem solving conversation seemed to have gone by pretty smoothly as well, and for the most part, he would just stick to acknowledging what was being said at this point. Which was even much outside of some sounds and expressions anyway. He didn’t think he needed to make the extra effort to verbally respond to those, unless something made it necessary in time. Though, maybe his way of approaching things was one of the reasons he came off the way he did? He was aware he could seem intimidating sometimes, but more often than not, it wasn’t really his intention. At the end of the day, it sort of came down to how other people chose to perceive him though, so there was no way for him to know for sure. Two people can look at the same exact thing, and get two very different impressions of it, thus it could be quite hard to make the right guesses at times. He wouldn’t protest against getting the sun and moon for free however, even if it wasn’t his original aim. Well, probably. He didn’t like people doing stuff for him just because all that much, but that was a habit he could maybe do away with…
No matter however, since it was time for surprise hugs right after. He was almost surprised it went as easily as it did, considering that the demon could have always attempted to push away or anything like that. Guess that meant he nailed the surprise part well enough to make it work flawlessly, which he was kind of glad for. It could have been quite the mess otherwise after all. Albeit, it still was in its own way, since even though he did what he did, he was hardly sure what to actually do after. One thing was certain, and it was the fact that he did not go around hugging people left and right. Honestly, as long as his memory was concerned, he was pretty sure this was a first when it came to pulling such a stunt…or whatever would one want to call it.
…and so he stood there, letting the other take his time with his reaction. There wasn’t much else he could do on top of what he already had, outside of keeping an eye on the situation in case Rika chose to want to move away or such. It’s not like he would keep hold on the other by force. For the majority of what happened though, he would have his stare directed at nothing specific behind the demon, choosing to not look at the guy during this. Not for the time being, at least. Despite it being his move, he was probably a bit less chill about it than the other. He didn’t dislike it, no, but it was just…a little odd. Perhaps because he wasn’t used to such. Regardless, he’d remain somewhere in the middle, not tense but not completely relaxed for the moment. He was nevertheless pretty much calm though, if the demon wanted to base it on the pace of his heartbeat. Blinking a little at what was said, he would shift one of his arms from the guy’s middle up to make an attempt at rubbing the demon’s back slightly.
‘’ ’s fine…’’, he would mumble, a low rumble in his throat. Well, except for the fact that he had no idea where he was going with this, but perhaps time would tell itself….?

Re: Now the game's on
Being on the same page was going to be a challenge considering that demon and the man he was with had very different ways of interpreting things and in turn processing events. Rika rested more on the emotional side and in turn had to work to step back and look at the big picture. Sharaku rested on the opposite end being more analytical and harder to gauge due to his serious nature and sometimes intense presentation. They couldn’t be more opposites and so headbutting probably would occur, but perhaps when that did come up it would be okay.
At least Rika was open to learning how to adapt to the others ways and in turn find pathways that made it work for them both and he figured as long as they could do that and endure the hardships then perhaps this path they were attempting to walk together would turn out wonderful. He could certainly hold onto the hope. So he did somewhere deep within and what happened next only solidify the idea that perhaps it would indeed be okay.
It was true, Rika could’ve resisted or pulled away, but if he was going to do that he would’ve done it the moment his hand was in the other’s or the moment he was tugged towards him. He had time to react that way, but he choose not too for various reasons and his reward? Something so simple, yet so powerful and needed: A hug.
An awkward hug, but a hug nonetheless. As Rika held the other, his grip natural, he could feel that the other wasn’t completely relaxed. Maybe he was uncomfortable with the closeness or maybe he just didn’t know what to do. The demon couldn’t say, but he wouldn’t pry or make fun of him as he simply took the moment to settle himself down.
He would rest easily enough against the other as he returned the hug, his tail occasionally flicking slightly, but outside of that the demon was pretty still outside of the fact that he was breathing and in turn slow untensing now that he was being held. He was quiet for a moment as he kept his eyes closed listening to the calm rhythm of the other’s heartbeat and breathing, letting sounds around him ground him in the moment. He would feel the other move his arm and allow him to rub his back. Even if it wasn’t the most graceful of things or awkward the demon let it be. It was the attempt that counted and the execution was not bad.
In fact that rub would cause a few things to happen unconsciously. The first two were noticeable only if the other paid any mind to the demon’s back side. His tail would actually wag slightly. Not a ton, but the gentle sway was slightly more frequent than before. On top of that, his wings shifted a bit unfolding themselves and stretching slightly outward to either side. Not in an effort to get away or fly, but rather as if they were making more space for the other to be able to rub his back without having to worry about them being in the way so much.
As he heard the mumble the from the other the demon would open his eyes a bit, but wouldn’t look up at the other just yet as he remained leaned against him his eyes tracing the path off to the side of them. He was quiet for a bit, but in time he would speak.
“I wonder if that is so….I mean when you first met us, I am pretty sure you’d never expect this as the true us, ja? But what’s even more ironic than that is this situation. I am suppose to be entertaining ya not you having to worry about picking me up,” he would say softly, his body shifting a little with the light chuckle. Then calming a bit his grip on the other tightened a bit to pull him even closer though it was done in a fashion that if the other noped it he could push back.
“Even so, I appreciate this,” the demon would say a small smile on his face as he let out a soft purr of contentment. Well outside of that oddity at least he seemed calmer now so yay?

Re: Now the game's on
They were indeed opposites in that way, that much was true, but nothing was impossible. While being super emotional wasn’t his forte, it didn’t mean he wasn’t capable of going along with it sometimes. It just took some extra effort, at the very least, depending on the given situation. It was hardly his preference, but he could understand it if he bothered to actually deal with it for real. More or less, that is. It would still be a little different than doing it naturally, obviously enough.
Regardless…yes, he was probably more awkward than would be considered typical, but he did his best for the time being. To be frank though, the reason behind not being completely relaxed wasn’t entirely just because of oddness or the like. He just liked having at least a bit of control of what he was doing. Plus, if both of them turned into sacks of potatoes, who’d be keeping them in place? It’s not like they were laying down on a bed or such and could allow to not worry. It would ruin the moment spectacularly if they accidentally fell over or something like that due to neither of them being grounded enough. Probably not something either of them needed to deal with right then and there. And he was just fine as he was, or so he thought at least.
He did catch the extra movements out of the corner of his eyes, but wouldn’t do much about them, just choosing to keep doing what he had been in the first place. There wasn’t really anything to do either way, unless he were to comment on it, but that would likely just make the situation awkward. As if it wasn’t a little strange already.
Hearing what the demon had to say a moment later, he was about to say something at first, but ended up cutting himself off when he was pulled closer right after. ‘’Hmm…’’, he would make a faint sound, not protesting the movement outside of wondering how much would it take for them to get squashed for a brief moment. That notwithstanding, he would try to get back to his response as he shifted his head a little to make sure he wouldn’t accidentally impale himself on Rika’s horns somehow thanks to their height differences. ‘’I don’t know whether that matters much….I couldn’t have expected anything specific back then to begin with. I didn’t really know you….’’ It’s a little farfetched to say he would never expect this, seeing as it’s really hard to settle on firm expectations as quickly as that. There was no reason for him to immediately decide that there were things he would opt to label as ‘nah, never gonna happen’. Simply because he had no way to know. He would furrow his brows slightly, thinking. ‘’…obvious entertainment isn’t the only way one can enjoy themselves…besides, I don’t dislike this…it’s just not something I normally tend to do…’’, he would trail off, kind of just voicing random thoughts before giving a faint snort. ‘’Not that I normally have anyone to do it with in the first place.’’ Although it was questionable as to whether he would even if he was able to in some way.
‘’Mmm…’’ He seemed to be slightly lost in thought at that point, though he still made the effort to respond to the other, or say something in general.

Re: Now the game's on
While the situation was indeed odd, Rika’s mind was far away from the practical ways of thinking when it came to why the other wasn’t fully relaxed. Maybe it was because for Rika, he didn’t always have to have control, but rather he let things just go as they would. For example, while he did not lean against the other in a limp fashion as if he had passed out or anything, he did ground himself, but it wasn’t because he was thinking “oh I’d best do this for stability purposes”, but rather he did it to make the hugging more natural. Sure, he wasn’t high in the air, but hugging anything airborne could be a challenge unless of course he had picked the guy up and needed to help keep him the air...something that would probably be even more awkward than this considering Rika was the shorter of the pair. The point was, he didn’t think to control what he did naturally. If he stood, he stood. If he needed to brace himself, he would. He didn’t think about the big pictures as he just trusted his body to do what it was going to do. He didn’t worry about controlling unless he needed to.
Just like now, as he stayed snuggled against the other, he didn’t think about controlling the situation as became more relaxed and comfortable with what was happening. He understood that they couldn’t stay like this forever, but for the moment at least he was fine as he was and even more fine when the other let him pull him closer. As he did this he shifted his head being unconsciously aware the other could get poked by his horns, his head automatically being positioned so the blunt parts of the bone pressed gently against the other, but the points remained pointed down at an angle where unless the other did something crazy or unexpected, he should not get poked….hopefully.
Regardless, he would hear the hum he got in response to pulling the other closer. He felt him move a bit, but he wasn’t pulling away, so the demon didn’t pay it much mind as he listened to what the other had to say. He would smile lightly as his eyes watched a butterfly flutter about.
“Then perhaps I got lucky it was you. Some would’ve believed that show was the real me.” Sometimes people jumped on the first impression given and as soon as one showed their true self they got mad and turned their nose up at what they had. Some liked the lie instead of the truth. Luckily for him this one wasn’t like that. “Mmm. That is true. There are various ways to enjoy one’s self without being entertained,” he would begin softly and then smiling slightly as he looked down at the ground he would continue. “When I was little I used to have a family to snuggle up with and when I got older, I had a few that I could hug, but none made me feel quite like this. Comfortable, safe...It's weird, but...this just feels right for some reason,” he would say as his tail swished a bit. Then continuing after a brief pause he would ask. “No one before me, huh? Well how does it make you feel knowing this is a thing now?” He was curious how the other felt about the matter. Yes he know the other had mentioned not disliking this, but that was rather vague and did not exactly add much to clarify a feeling on a subject.
In any case the demon let a moment pass by to give the other to answer if he wanted. When the guy hummed and then asked him a question a bit later, the demon would find himself grinning as he shifted slightly in the other’s grip so that he could look up at him as he remained in his embrace and holding him back.
“More than you can imagine. I won’t say we are clingy, but I do like to cuddle,” he would say as he gave the other a gentle smile and then thinking on something, the smile would turn into innocent curiosity as he blinked and tilted his head at the other. “How about you?”

Re: Now the game's on
Well, while he did what he did for the reasons said, it wasn’t exactly true that he was thinking about it. Not purposefully at the very least. He did think a lot alright, but that didn’t meant he didn’t do some things solely because of that. He sure liked being in control of stuff, but it couldn’t be said he always kept an eye on it to make sure he was in the position he wanted. Certain things can easily simply become a habit of sorts, ending up with you doing them without even really taking the time to consider it beforehand. Then again, how he dealt with the reality could be pretty strange sometimes, so it was hard to tell just what was in fact done on purpose and what wasn’t.
‘’Maybe, but it isn’t really the people’s fault if that happens. When you put on a show, you’re the one trying to look like what you are not, and that is what most people will naturally believe unless they have a reason not to.’’ Getting super mad about it wasn’t nice, that much was true. However, expecting people to just be ‘oh okay’ when they find out you were putting on a fake face for a while may not be exactly fair either. Everyone’s going to have a different view on that kind of situation, and there were always extra variables it could depend on as well. That said, he would frown a little at the words spoken next, as well as the question that came alongside it. That was…kind of complicated. ‘’I’m…not sure. It’s not that simple. You just go talking about doing this with different kinds of people, as if it was more or less the same thing…but I find it weird. To be honest, I don’t know. I think I just feel confused.’’ And to top it all off, he had no idea how to explain it in an understandable way. Which would probably just make it confusing for both of them…
And it would seem that his own question he opted to ask right after ended up with a very similar kind of inquiry being directed back at him. Frankly, he wished he knew, or had a solid answer to that. However, the term ‘hug, ‘cuddle’, or whatever just wasn’t ultimately set for him. His perception of it could vary wildly depending on the meaning associated with the action. He couldn’t claim something as widespread as ‘liking’ to hug. On certain occasions, he perhaps would, but there could be just as many where he would want to kick the person away. And even in the situations where he accepted it, it could still make him feel very differently each time. In fact, he’d wager that the word ‘like’ could use having a hundred or so synonyms with slightly different shades of meaning just so he could actually attempt to explain himself sometimes. Or something akin to that. He would sigh faintly. ‘’I’m normally more than content to stick with the blankets on my bed when it comes to cuddling.’’ Well, that was no lie at least. ‘’Do I like this? I don’t know if I have an exact answer. I’m honestly not sure how am I supposed to feel. Or what it even means, for that matter.’’, he would shake his head slightly, a somewhat distant look on his face for a moment before he looked down at the demon.

Re: Now the game's on
“I understand that. I know when you put on a show that is what people expect out of you, but at the same time is it really wrong to be concerned when people either get super mad or try to force ya to be that way all the time? I think...the world always puts on show and people gobble it up so quickly and frequently it is habit. So it’s a bit different when you get someone out of the box like yourself.” He wasn’t saying that those that gobbled up the show couldn’t see past the act and accept the truth when revealed, No there were some that could. Still not being judge or having expectations set up right out of the gate was kind of nice. He didn’t mind someone taking the time to get to know him and such so the step back approach was nice….but also it was also what made figuring out what the hell to do is that much harder for him.
Perhaps he was just used to those on the save wavelength as him when it came to feeling things. Like they would react almost instantly, understood certain things, and could answer things more or less in a concrete way when feeling questions were posed. Words and action flowed naturally, you know? But here? Here there was a bit of challenge. It wasn’t a bad thing. It was just a very odd thing that took Rika’s mind a bit to comprehend and swallow.
To the words said, the demon would frown a bit not saying things at first as he took a moment to process it all. The guy was unsure and confused about how it made him feel? And did not understand the hug differences? He thought they were the same? Hmmm well….
“Yes. I did give examples, but the hugs don’t mean the same thing...at least not to us,” the demon said and then pausing he would take in the rest of what was said. This would cause him to frown a bit as his eyebrows furrow in thought as he looked up at the other for a bit, red eyes watching hazel ones as he was silent for a moment.
“I...don’t know if I can explain it all. I mean, I most certainly can’t tell you how to feel or what to do when it comes to this situation because in the end, it is up to you to figure out the meaning and how you approach it; however, I can try to give a bit of bit of clarity. Seeing as we are on different pages, hugs for me have different meanings depending on who it comes from. A hug from my mum or dad or sibling or friend. They all carry warmth, a sense of belonging, and unity within the pack. It was a bonding method for us and they flowed freely. A hug to a stranger was more of a hello and cultural greeting. Unlike a family hug, its warmth is different and not as intense as one shared with family or a friend you trust. It’s friendly, but a distant at the same time. As for hug shared between lovers, its similar to a family hug, but it is on a different level. It is more intimate. Take us for example, I wouldn’t hug my mum like I am hugging you. Wouldn’t be having this conversation trying to untangle it all either. For me, what you did meant more than just “oh I pity him” sort of deal. You went out of way to try and make feel comfortable and while I can’t explain, for me I felt safety, comfort, but also a connection. One that I am unclear if you actually share or get,” he would say and then shaking his head a bit, he would look away for a moment, trying to collect his thoughts before looking up at the other again.
‘It is hard to explain in words how I feel towards you, so let me try to show you instead,” the demon said and then shifting his positioning a bit, his arms would slip from around the other’s middle and instead wrap around his shoulder area. Using his arm positioning and his wings a bit to ease the pressure on the guy’s shoulders, Rika would tip toe, bringing his face mighty close to the other’s as he paused for a moment to give the other a brief once over before he focused on what he wanted to do as he leaned in and actually attempted to kiss the other on the lips.
If successful, the other would find the kiss a gentle and neat one that last for a few seconds longer than a typical quick kiss before the demon slowly pulled back a bit and let himself return to standing flat on his feet. His arms would slid down a bit so that his hands rested lightly on the other’s chest as he watched him.
“Whether it takes you time or not to understand it, there is one this one thing that I hope you take away from this. I really, really like you alot. I know we don’t know each other well, but I am attracted to you in a way that is more than just a friend. Don't why that is. I just know that it feels right for me to be with you like that....”
He would tell the other in gentle tones deciding to be just honest with the feeling..and just roll with whatever consequences came from it.
Re: Now the game's on
‘’…I suppose it isn’t entirely right of them to act like that. But I think that maybe some people just feel like they got played in some way and end up being upset. Some will behave like brats about it forever, but perhaps some people just need to be given some time to cool off? A lot of people probably just don’t like having their expectations be shattered into pieces too suddenly, and don’t know how to deal with it correctly.’’ One way or another though, dealing with it would require both sides to make some effort there. Of course, some people would be assholes just for the sake of being that way, but the whole point of this matter was that the first impression is not always the correct one, right? Therefore, maybe being super mad is just a short phase for some, as a result of the sudden change happening. One can never know.
Regardless, moving onto more personal discussions for the time being, apparently. And a lot of confusion galore along with it. Which was arguably nothing new in his case though, and even doubly so when it came to this type of situations. He would cast the demon a somewhat contemplative look as he listened to what was being explained as he tried making sense of it. Not that it didn’t actually make any, but for him personally, it wasn’t that easy to process. He sure didn’t hug people as easily as that, and would likely not even consider doing so with a stranger as appropriate at all. Or if he had to do so, it would probably not be without at least some internal cringe of sorts. While he could enjoy touching when it was good, he typically did not like being too close to people he didn’t like at all, or just felt distant from for whatever reason. They could even be a close friend, but if he didn’t happen to feel highly okay with it, then he would prefer to stray away from such activities regardless of the other circumstances at play.
There was certainly a lot he could attempt to say towards the slight speech he received, but the small window of pause he had there wouldn’t really be enough for him to gather his thoughts enough to come around and actually say a piece of his mind. And definitely not when the situation took a completely different turn once Rika got back to what he was doing. Well, it was certainly not what he expected. Yes, he did ask about ‘meaning’, and while that was one of the ways to go about it, it hadn’t really been on his mind. Not consciously, at least. Seeing as he was more or less aware of the factor in general, considering that they were out on a date after all. It just hadn’t quite been on the forefront of his mind right there until that moment.
At first, he would just blink when the demon moved about, not really sure what the other was up to. It did hit him once the guy was pretty much in his face however, but there wasn’t much to do about it at that point. Of course, he could have noped and pushed the guy away, not letting him go through with it, but he didn’t exactly want to do that. It would probably just give a wrong impression too, were he to go that route. Besides, he didn’t even know for sure whether he really minded it. It was an odd thing, really. Not that his mind was in the state to actually analyze that at the moment anyway. If nothing else though, he would close his eyes for the time being, even if he ended up pretty much just standing there. The demon did kind of pull the stunt all of a sudden after all.
…and he would more or less remain that way after the guy pulled away. Aside from his expression changing slightly, his brows furrowed a little as he tried to process just what the hell was going on. For a moment, it seemed that he was taking it pretty well, but that was probably because he hadn’t done anything yet. Hearing the demon talk again, he would eventually open his eyes to just kind of stare at the other awkwardly.
After a few seconds though, he would look off to the side slightly. This was probably going to take a bit. He heard what was said of course, but he didn’t necessarily have it in him to just respond right away. Not really. It appeared that he was a bit too preoccupied with whatever was going on his mind at that moment, rather than anything else.
He wasn’t quite squirming just yet, but he certainly seemed to be having a decently tough time swallowing this for whatever reason. Still, he did try, looking back towards the other, as much as it wasn’t really helping the case. In fact, he just seemed rather flustered now that his mind more or less caught up with what was going on. To the point that it was pretty obvious if one was looking. While not glaringly so due to his skin already having a natural tanned color, the top of his cheeks were catching a slightly reddish color nevertheless.
…and now he would have to decide how he felt about being stumped too. Theoretically speaking. How would the other perceive the matter was a mystery for now, but it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. After all, if he didn’t really care in any way or form, would there be any reason for him to react in the first place? He seemed to normally be pretty good at not giving a damn after all. Still, the conclusion would be up to the demon for the moment, as it didn’t appear like he was going to say anything significant just yet.

Re: Now the game's on
“I suppose I can see that side of the coin and maybe it does just take the right sort of person to accept the truth of the matter. Still it is a nice change up not having to deal with that right out of the gate for a change.” First impression were powerful things to be sure and he had to admit he was one to use what he saw first to try to gauge someone, but at the same time he always left the window open to the fact that maybe what he was seeing wasn’t always the true person. Sure some could be genuine right out the gate, but many preferred to hide behind a mask only tearing it off when one got to know them….and even then a person could still fool you. In the end, there was no way to truly know someone. You only got what they wanted you to see, hear, know.
The matter of first impressions, judgement calls, and truly knowing a person would pass at its own pace fading into small speeches that tried to bring clarity about the hugging and what made each different. It was hard to explain and honestly as the demon spoke and watched the other’s reaction he wondered if he was making sense at all. I mean, in his head things made sense, but would the other get it also? He wasn’t sure, but if he could follow the trend of them being opposites and the fact the other seemed to not be used to the ideas of close contact and had posed the question to begin with, then maybe he translated this whole hugging business differently. Though for better or worse was hard to say.
Once Rika was done speaking, he did leave a small window for the other try and process it all, but perhaps the window was too small. The other didn’t respond at all to what was said or if he was going to, maybe the may the other may have been thrown off track when Rika made his move. The demon didn’t rush the move, the actions slow but natural as he took in the other’s behavior planning to pull back or do what was needed to be done to fix things should anything go wrong or the other react negatively to the situation.
However, outside of blinking the guy didn’t move. He allowed the demon to kiss him and when Rika pulled away, he would watch the other’s reaction taking note that the other had his eyes closed for a bit, his eyebrows furrowing as they seemed to do when he was in thought. When Rika spoke shortly after the other would open his eyes and give him a strange look that at would cause the demon to tilt his head to the left as his eyes narrowed as he tried to understand the meaning. Did he make the wrong move or did something too soon?
He was unsure and looking off to the side and getting silence was definitely not helping; however, keeping his anxiety in check, he would remind himself that unlike himself or maybe some others it took this one a moment to process things, right? He supposed if it was going badly, the other would’ve pushed him away or did something besides be quiet there and keep holding him right?...Unless he had somehow broken the other with the move. Hmmm….
The demon’s thoughts would cut short as the other attempted to speak, but stopped before finishing his thoughts.
“Hm?” the demon would blink as the other faced him and seemed to be a bit flustered about the matter. In fact was that a blush on those cheeks of his? He...he made him blush? This was quite a surprise. Much like when the other kind of shut up when he first met him when he decided to be good and submit, this too seemed a bit unusual for the guy. So were these odd reactions due to the fact that the guy shared the same feeling towards him? The demon wasn’t quite sure of the answer was and due to the way the other had answered before to questions regarding how he felt about the hugging, the demon wasn’t sure if he was going to get any clarity from the other if he asked. Even so, the demon didn’t think this was a bad thing what was happening. Still he did need to know one thing…
“You okay?” he would ask softly as he kept a careful eye on the other wondering just what was going through the other’s mind.

Re: Now the game's on
‘’I’ve given up bothering to think about it long ago. People think what they will, and I don’t see much reason to expend my energy on proving them wrong unless I have a good reason to want to. In many cases, it doesn’t really pay off to dig into it. There isn’t even a way to know just what exact impression they have on you without them telling you.’’ And how many would, really? They may let you know something due to the way they treat you, but a lot will always remain hidden somewhere out of your sight. You can never truly know whether they are in fact judging you wrongly, or it’s just you not seeing their motivations for what they are fully. One way or another, unless you are willing to spend a lot of time figuring out a person, much of what happens is left up to circumstance and how everyone decides to interpret what they’ve seen.
Moving onto the hugging business however, it became a little more complicated. It’s not to say that he wasn’t getting what the other was saying, but the true question would be whether he also understood it. After all, some of the distinctions the demon spoke of were pretty minimal, and probably not that simple to pick up on unless one did hugs frequently enough. Which was certainly not his case. The concept was kind of just all over the place for him. Not that they managed to make it into a conversation though, as before he could make up his mind on what to even say in response to it, he had a very different matter to deal with, and one that required more immediate attention than the hug talk.
…and that went pretty oddly. Not necessarily in a negative way, but it sure was a strange scenario to behold. One could claim that his reaction was unusual, but was it really? Everyone behaves somewhat differently in every situation they face, therefore there is no rule on what can happen. Someone who looks super confident in 90% of their presentation will likely have moments where they come off as nearly the opposite. Sadly, no one can be perfect enough to avoid every possible pitfall or simply just the oddball situations that cause maybe unexpected reactions. Then again, he was probably rather confusing at base, since he could easily be almost paradoxical in his behavior at times, but that was how he normally was. It would likely be really tough to explain why he dealt with certain things the way he did, or why could his demeanor switch as easily as that here and there.
The other didn’t really break him if that was what he was worried about. Although, he did have to wonder whether he wasn’t going to just break himself. While yes, the demon did contribute, this was kind of more his own problem than anything else. He was trying to focus on the given situation, but it was proving to be a rather hard task at the moment. Was he okay? In a way, yes, but also not really. Or maybe it was just both at once, but he wasn’t even sure. Okay was a little vague after all, so it wasn’t that simple to tell what still fell within in and what didn’t. To be honest, he just felt like he was going to pop like some sort of a balloon at this rate. The other was having a relatively easy time with all this feelsy stuff, from hugs to kisses and all that, but it was harder to get over for him. He didn’t even know what was really expected of him. It just made his head hurt at the end of it all. The other was being all chill and just casually doing this stuff, while he was busy struggling with the follow through. The fact that he only really got silence in return as well didn’t help much, as it made the atmosphere even more awkward than it already was.
He didn’t know whether he liked dealing with this kind of pressure. And at this point it was even harder to figure out what he was feeling. Probably a mix of embarrassment and frustration alongside a few other things. The real main issue though, was that it was a bit too much for his liking. He was definitely more used to being in a state of mind when he did not more or less want to claw at his brain to make the madness stop for a moment….
Surprisingly enough, he didn’t have swirls for eyes just yet, though if the other was perceptive enough, he would probably notice something was off. ‘’I’m…I’ll be fine….’’, he would answer eventually, somewhat tensely. Well, he probably would. Nevertheless, what other answer could he give anyway? He didn’t exactly want to upset the guy for no real reason…

Re: Now the game's on
“Well I wish I could shut my brain off when it comes to that part. As much as I can see that side of the coin, I always still wonder and think on what another thinks of me. Sometimes to the point of giving myself a headache or so. I probably shouldn’t be concerned cause in the end it probably doesn’t really matter….but it does happen,” the demon said as he remained leaning against the other. It was probably not a good thing to worry about what a person thought about you because at the end of the day, you had to deal with you...and if the perception of others was the only thing you went by, then how could you really handle yourself? Know who you were and in turn stand up for yourself when malice sought to tear you down? You couldn’t.
While the demon understood this and thought he had a pretty good grasp of himself most of the time, it still did not change that he struggled with people’s opinions of himself and sometimes those opinions did hurt a lot more than they should. Did that make him more sensitive or weaker than the other with him? Maybe and maybe not. In the end, the answer was never really clear considering that everyone processed things in their own fashions, so maybe his way was just different is all.
In any case, that subject would pass into hug conversations and that would slide into silence and perhaps a bit of awkwardness when the kiss had been introduced. The demon studied the other for sure and was a bit concerned when the other blushed and what not, but did not speak. He didn’t know exactly what was going on in the others head, but for some reason it seemed as if the other was holding back something though whether this was a good or bad thing was yet to be seen.
It was out of concern for the other and the idea of him perhaps exploding or passing out that the demon had posed his simple question...to which the other seemed to become tense again as he managed to get out a small answer that the demon wasn’t sure if he wanted to pry at or not. The demon would watch the other quietly for a second and then smiling gently, he would tiptoe and give the other a light kiss on the cheek before he push away gently placing some space between them. He would take a few steps away before pausing and looking over at the other. With the smile still in place he would hold out his hand to the taller man.
“Perhaps a little walking will help this situation, no?” he would say as he waited to see if the other would take his hand or not. It was true this was very natural for the demon, the only then nerve wrecking was actually kissing the other and potentially being shot down in the end, but he understood that maybe this wasn’t the easiest for the other, so he decided to take this at the other’s pace and just pray he didn’t do something to agitate the other more….or if he did then he hoped the other corrected him for errors done wrong so he would know not to that again.

Re: Now the game's on
‘’I do give it a passing thought I suppose, but unless the person I’m facing means something to me, then I wouldn’t beat myself over what they think. Most of them wouldn’t be able to prove that their negative accusations are truly correct anyway, and if they don’t really mind thinking of me that way, then there’s probably little point in me going out of my way to care about them.’’ What for? Just to feel disappointed later on? Of course, that’s not to say that he would never take a gamble, but there would have to at least be some sort of hint that it’s worth the effort. But yes, at the end of the day, it was important to believe in yourself instead of looking towards others’ opinions of you too much. They can sure help you improve yourself if they are genuine, but they don’t make who you are entirely. On the other hand, your own view of the matter can be pretty tough to deal with as well. He would know that. So in the end, extreme focus on either was probably not the best idea.
Speaking of ideas, the ones that passed by afterwards seemed to have taken an unusual turn of sorts. Was he holding something back? Well, in a sense one could say yes, although that wasn’t something exclusive to this situation anyway. Even though he was usually honest when speaking, it was rare that he actually told everything that was on his mind. In most cases, it was virtually impossible to do so either way. Besides, who even did that? There was probably no person that didn’t keep certain things to themselves, whether on purpose or not. Though it could be quite the insanity at times….
Thankfully, no matter how bad it could seem, it wasn’t nearly enough to cause him to straight up pass out or anything like that. He wasn’t feeling physically sick to that point, no. Although getting there was not impossible, he would probably at best make himself dizzy if anything. The issue was more so on the mental plane in this case, although he did feel a bit off. Nothing too major however. He’d deal with it. Not like he had any other choice in the end, unless he brought it up to the demon, but that would likely only result in a mess bigger than necessary.
As a matter of fact, maybe it was for the better this way at that moment. It’s almost ironic how small changes of action can both make a situation much worse or much better without the person doing them even being aware of it. Perhaps it had to do with the natural complexities of human interaction. And the fact that certain things simply couldn’t be controlled, no matter how much would one want to. Now if only he could have a mini-chimney on his head to cool off by letting some steam out. Life would be perfect that way. Err, in theory, maybe. Back to the main point however, he would at first raise an eyebrow slightly when the guy chose to go smooching him again in some way, not really in the state of mind to try deciding whether he wanted to let that happen or not. Not like it would hurt him anyway. What did help him snap out of his musing (at least to a point), was the other pulling away. It’s funny how reality works, but he was so busy mentally headbutting all the various touching that has happened in quick succession up until that moment that the sudden lack of it actually made him stop for a moment.
…as much as that brought different kinds of thoughts into the picture, but if nothing else, it did help on clearing up some stuff. Man, Rika was probably going to get pretty weirded out by him at this rate. Alas, he couldn’t really do much about it right now.
‘’…’’
For a brief while, he would give the demon an almost surprised look, but shake it off soon afterwards. Surprisingly, he didn’t seem to hesitate too much when it came to taking the guy’s hand, albeit he did make a comment towards what was happening at least. ‘’…maybe. Although I’m still debating whether I’d rather walk or sit down.’’

Re: Now the game's on
“Perhaps you are right. Still it is a bit hard for us to pull back from it all like that. Even if I don’t know them it still stings a bit. Maybe not as bad as when someone closer says something bad, but the impact is still there.” It wasn’t like everything tore the demon down or that he would cry all of sudden for being bashed negatively. He knew there were asses out there to be honest as much as it was a pain to deal with them, he could put asses in their place. He didn’t like to be run over, so there was that, but even if he could be strong, if he was exposed to it too long, it did wear him down and make him depressed. When he was in those moments, it was hard to pull himself out of the hole as his mind took to tearing apart his own perception of himself. Boxing the negativity out and focusing on self, taking too much of it in and letting it rule your life...yes either extreme was bad to fall on. The only right path seemed to be a difficult and delicate path between the two extremes that sometimes the demon walked alright on at other fell into the hells under it.
The demon would let his mind wander a bit after that taking to resting against the other until conversations over hugs came into the picture and shortly after the events around them decided to go down some very unusual and unclear paths. When it first started, the demon was full of anxiety and concerns, the idea of no control and just going with the flow of his emotions and instinct, so foreign after worrying and trying to be in some form of control for so long. He was scared, but he step forward anyway and watched as things unfold as they would.
While the other’s silences and short answers to the kiss matter at first concerned the demon, once he gave the issue some thought and tried to place himself in the other’s shoes, he found himself being able to get a handle on his worries and in turn calm down enough to think somewhat logically. He wasn’t sure what to do exactly to make the other feel at ease, but he didn’t think smothering him was wise either. Yes, he gave him a kiss on the cheek, but it wasn’t because he wanted kill him with kisses or give the idea that just because the other had let him get away with one kiss it was okay for him to go full out him now. Nah, this kiss was just the demon’s way of saying without words that it was going to be alright and that the other could take all the time needed to process the matter...though whether or not the other actually got the meaning behind the extra kiss was a mystery and probably would remain that way as long as the other held onto him. So going with the idea of literally giving the other space, the demon would move away from him taking note of how the other seemed to go from flustered to surprise in an instant.
This guy and his constantly shifting behavior. It was confusing to be sure and perhaps wierd or scary to some considering it was hard to know what was right or wrong in the situation. On one hand the guy could come of displeased and strong about something, but then just as quickly he exposed these softer spots in him, before turning around and doing something else that contradicted or did make sense with the last action. It left Rika scrambling a bit as he tried hard to find clarity in it...and to be honest that desire for clarity probably was the start of anxiety attacks other hang ups he may have had, but now...now he thought he was perhaps getting how this worked.
Sharaku was an unpredictable variable in more than one way. His behavior pattern didn’t follow the norm and his approach to most things was definitely a bit mind boggling. It was weird and caused lots of frustration within at first; however, the more the demon spent with the other and stepped back a bit to consider what was happening, the more he found he didn’t need to think so hard on this he just needed to go with the flow...something that both of them seem to have issues doing. The more he let this simple truth sink in the more the demon began to try different things to try and keep the situation more or less going wellish. While he was still uncertain if he doing things right as it stood now he guess he was hitting the right marks, considering the other wasn’t exploding, passing out, or flipping out too badly on him and when he held his hand out, the guy would take after his initial surprised wore off.
Holding the other’s hand gently in his, Rika would begin to walk hearing the other’s words and nodding. “Well, there is a spot a bit further up the path we can head to that has some nice seating and scenery. Though if you prefer to sit down now or simply stay still just let me know.” The demon would tell him in easy tones seeming relaxed and okay with the situation...though in reality he was keeping tabs on the other and his behavior, its just this time around instead of being panicky and all over the place he choose to pick himself up and be at least somewhat confident for the time being.

Re: Now the game's on
He would shrug slightly. ‘’Stings remind me of insects. Maybe you should just swat annoying people the same way. I don’t know. There are many people who would talk crap about others without hesitance, so it’s just a matter of showing them the finger.’’ Unless they were right about you that is, but how many times did that really happen? A lot of people made conclusions before they knew enough about you to even support their claims properly. In the end, it was about recognizing whether their complains did in fact have some value, or were just unnecessary jabs at you. Once you knew how to do that, it was much easier to ignore random attacks on your confidence.
Too bad some thoughts and situations couldn’t be swatted away as easily as that. Not that the whole hug/kiss business was bad of course, but it was definitely proving to be a bit of a rocky road at the very least. Heh, maybe that was actually a staple for them at this point. Things becoming almost unnecessarily complex even when they weren’t meant to be that way originally. Which was probably both a good and a bad thing, depending on how they ended up turning out. So far though, none of them came down to a massacre, thus they were technically doing pretty well. In theory, if nothing else. Everything can be better or worse than it is after all.
It couldn’t be said that he understood the extra kiss properly, but despite that, he hadn’t really taken it in a bad way. While he didn’t know what exactly was its purpose, he didn’t think the demon meant anything bad by it, or was trying to do something unpleasant, so in the end, it sort of did its job? Indirectly perhaps, but better than nothing. Although if he were to be honest, he didn’t give it a lot of thought at all, since his mind was a little caught up in different things at that moment. Not really surprising seeing as quite a few things were happening one after another, and some of them would have to take the backseat one way or another. Regardless…yes, his occasional shifts in behavior could indeed come off as random and unpredictable. He could certainly be a walking paradox at times, although there was typically a good reason for the changes. Alas, the majority of the time it was an internal one, and not quite expressed to the outside much. Thus making it seem like he was shifting his mood abruptly without any detectable reason. It could indeed be tough for people who didn’t know how to read him well, and even if they did, he could still come off as a puzzle at times. A lot of the ‘why’s’ behind his actions remained in his mind and didn’t project outwardly at all after all.
He did seem to be a bit lost in thought even after it all cleared out though, a slightly blank expression passing over his face when the other spoke, even though he did follow after the guy on sort of autopilot for the moment. Blinking a bit to shake it away, he would huff faintly. ‘’Too bad we can’t have a picnic though, so maybe we should just keep walking…’’ For the moment at least. Besides, Rika said it was some walking distance away, right? They could decide by the time they got there, perhaps. He didn’t want to state something now just to change his mind before they got around to doing it. And walking wasn’t half bad anyway. Or did it even matter??? He didn’t know anymore. Maybe he should just focus on something else. Like the whole weirdness business they had going on…well, it was more or less cleared for the immediate moment, but still.
Speaking of that, why couldn’t life just be more simple?? Catching himself staring off into distance once again, he would give a muffled sigh as he glanced towards his companion. He would tug slightly on the others' hand in an attempt to make them walk close by each other, with a brief sheepish smile. Nope, things couldn’t be simple at all. What was he even up to though…?

Re: Now the game's on
Rika would feel the other shift under him when he shrugged and then upon hearing the words said he would chuckle lightly amused. “Swat people like bugs, huh? That is an interesting image. Though it is not the backing them off that is the problem. I don’t let people run over us, so I think I do more or less okay job, backing people up if they try us, but still...the letting go part is just a bitch. Been working on trying to do better on that front, but I guess some habits die hard.” People were a pain to be sure and sometimes they did say nasty things towards another. And sometimes said words put more fight inside of the demon than another. He could step up and tell someone to fuck off alright, but that did not change the fact that after the fact those words lingered and in turn took some time to let go...and even if he did manage to push them away, some of the negativity always remained like his mind couldn’t just let the damn thing go completely. It was frustrating to be honest, but it was a thing he contended with from time to time.
That personal pain point aside let’s move to more rocky and uncertain territory that was namely the hug/kiss deal. It was a strange spot to go into with so much vagueness and strange behaviors that by the end of it all, Rika was very unsure if what had happened was good or bad and the more he tried to find a clear answer to it the more confused he became. On one hand, he thought he hadn’t done anything too bad considering the outcome wasn’t some blow out or anything like that; however, he had to wonder if what he did was good at all considering outside of the blush, the guy did shut up and seemed to get tensed when questioned about how he was doing and after that, the signals were so hard to read that Rika honestly was left very confused on the inside.
….And perhaps it was his own confusion and not wanting to tip whatever was happening over completely that he had backed up to give the other some space to breathe and such. They probably both needed the breather and time to clear out thoughts. In the end it seemed like what he did was the right move and sometime later awkward would become less awkward, he guess. He was still a bit perplexed when it came to figuring out his companion, but at the same time was less bothered by it now as they walked hand-in-hand and things seemed to calm down a bit.
He did take note that when he spoke the other seemed be somewhere else, but instead of making a fuss about the blank face, the demon would just shake his head inwardly as his eyes drifted from the man to the forest around him for a bit his mind just enjoying the scenery until he heard the huff and the response the other gave.
“No I didn’t think to bring food this round. Though we can always find some place to eat if you want to do so later on or whenever you are hungry. Though, on that note do you like picnics?” he would ask as he cast a glance upward at the other. He would watch him for a small time frame before looking away and continuing to lead the way as they somehow fell into small silence.
The demon didn’t mind it too much though as he took to watching the scenery again as he thought on what to say next; however, it would seem the other beat him to the punch. Whether the demon took note of the sound made by the other was unknown; however, he did react easily enough to the tug on his hand as he drift closer to the other as he fell in step with him easily enough. He would catch the sheepish smile there and maybe would’ve returned with a smile of his own; however, at that exact moment the other threw a question out there that kind of surprised the demon causing him to blink a few times to process it and then giving a small lopsided grin, he would rub the back of his head a bit as he looked away from the other.
“Heh. Well, I must admit I was unsure what may happen when I did it, but at the end of the day? Yes, I did like the fact that it occurred,” the demon would begin and then looking over at the other the grin would become slightly playful. “Granted, if you had kissed me back it might’ve been even better, but hey I ain’t complaining,” he would say as he gave the other’s hand a light squeeze. He was teasing him with words, but honestly he was cool with what happened and honestly was just happy the other hadn’t reacted badly to the matter. Regardless, the demon playfulness would die down a bit as he glanced back at the other.
“Though since you are asking. What about you? Did you like that?”

Re: Now the game's on
‘’Maybe trying to take the words with a grain of salt to begin with would help?’’ He honestly had no idea. It wasn’t like he never got affected by what people said, but he was normally able to filter it pretty well, unless it happened to be something heavy enough to actually make him think more than usual. Not many people knew where to bite to make that happen though, so he was more or less doing fine in most cases.
Whatever though, seeing as suggestions would probably not solve that matter in the end, and they had bigger fish to fry anyway. And those were some confusing fish as a matter of fact. Despite that however, it all ended on a decently neutral note, even though some mysteries did remain floating about. Albeit they didn’t appear to be too severe, or causing things to become too sour. Which meant they were probably good to go for the time being until any of it needed to be talked about in detail. If it ever would, which was a million dollar question when it came to them. Things were prone to going in unexpected directions very easily, no matter what choices were made. Maybe it was a result of the so called ‘hard to read’ phenomenon? Sometimes it really came off that way, but whether that was the main cause of their problems would be hard to tell. At least he was not a complete stone statue all the time though…
Mmm? Was there some sort of restaurant in a place like this? Or was the idea to go somewhere completely else…? He wasn’t sure how long the demon planned to be hanging out for the day though, so maybe it could be the latter as well. Hmmm. ‘’Well, I haven’t eaten anything today yet. I think I am fine for now however.’’ He didn’t mind it too much for the time being. ‘’And yes, assuming I want food. If I don’t, it depends on whether I would end up being ignored in lieu of said food or not.’’ It can get a little boring if you end up sitting there staring at your company as they proceed to stuff themselves. It’s not the nicest to speak with your mouth full after all, thus there would likely be some awkward silence happening in case only one person was focusing on the food.
Random picnic ideas aside, the topic would soon switch back to the whole thing that started this all, surprisingly enough. The fact that they were now back to being right next to each other only making it that much more similar. In a sense, at least. It was a little bit different though, or at the very least it appeared to be so far. Second time’s the charm, maybe? Hopefully it wouldn’t need to be the third, as the original saying goes. Time to break the rule, perhaps? That said, he would give a couple blinks of his own in return after hearing the entire response he got back. Well, he had guessed that the demon wouldn’t mind the questioning as much as someone else might have, but he still hadn’t expected that kind of answer right off the bat. The random surprises would never cease to happen, eh? Choosing not to dwell on it too much right there and then however, he would just scratch his cheek a bit in thought about what to say. ‘’Well…..I wouldn’t know how much better that would have been, since I’ve never done that before. I’m no expert, and anything can happen to go wrong.’’ It doesn’t always have to feel good, since one can be really horrible at kissing too. Albeit, he didn’t think he was dumb enough to do the obviously unpleasant stuff. Still, anything can happen. Then again, as long as he didn’t attempt to be one of those people who would go and slobber all over their partner’s face, he was probably good. Which he wouldn’t, since that simply sounded disgusting.
Anyway…’’And…I guess?’’ He would purse his lips slightly in thought. ‘’You did catch me off guard with that, so my mind wasn’t really where it should have been for that. It makes it hard to say.’’, he would pause to shake his head in mild amusement. ‘’I’d wager it was alright, but I wasn’t focused enough back then, so my perception of that is a little fuzzy.’’ It was a combination of many things, really. Even though the guy hadn’t been rushing with it, the time-frame still hasn’t been very long anyway. Plus, things could register pretty slowly with him at times, mainly when they were not expected on top of the situation being heavy already. His mind could literally just halt when there was any sort of overload, and that did not help him with being completely present for what was happening. Considering how he had been more or less speechless for a good while right after, it was very much a thing back then. It was what it was though, he’d guess….
Re: Now the game's on
“It might be something to work towards. Though it would need some practice on my part,” the demon would say considering that idea. He wasn’t sure if he could actually master just dismissing things and not getting to wound up about it. He might be too much of feeler for that, but even so maybe by changing the way he thought on the matter perhaps he could let the little stuff go and in turn not boil over as badly. It was worth a try and anything to keep him away from the hell hole his mind could become was worth the effort of at least trying before saying it did not work.
Personal matters aside though the matters at hand would extend beyond the demon to encompass both males and while at first things were highly uncertain and confusing by some miracle things settled out into a calm. Though whether the pair were unconfused, more confused, had some issues they did not state out loud, etc, etc was a mystery...and would probably remain that way since both males didn’t seem to bring up worrying subjects unless it bothered them enough to say it aloud. Regardless of this odd point, the situation was going more or less smoothly, so the demon didn’t see the need to fret over the unknown and figured if they did hit a bump, they’d figure a way around it. For now though, he would simply enjoy himself as he continued to walk by the other’s side.
For a short period it was a bit of silence until picnics and the talk of food occurred. Heh. They just couldn’t seem to get away from the subject of food no matter if they were chatting online or face-to-face. Hmm. Was that going to become a theme with them then? Food somehow getting into the conversation no matter what? It was an amusing thought, but one the demon pulled himself away from rather easily when the other spoke.
“Haven’t eaten yet huh? Well, I suppose we could swing by a restaurant later on and get something. Don’t exactly want you to have no food at all, even if you can go long periods without it.” He would say lightly teasing the other about the eating habits they had discussed earlier. Despite the light tease though, he would seriously get food after this. He did plan to spend a few hours out here so he’d be on empty again and in turn would want to eat; however, if the other wasn’t hungry even then well, he supposed he could just pick up something for himself or like figure out food at home. He didn’t exactly want to force the other into a situation where he had to watch him eat. He found that a bit disrespectful to be honest. Speaking of that it seemed the other was kind of on the same wavelength when he answered the picnic question.
“Well. I do love my food; however, even when faced with that, my companion is more important than my belly, so I wouldn’t ignore ya if I had food...and honestly, I wouldn’t force ya to come with me only for you to have to watch me eat while we chatted. I find that a bit rude unless I knew the other wasn’t bothered by the matter.” It was true he’d much rather drop the other party off or let them go free if they were like nope to food rather than drag them somewhere just because he alone was hungry. He could handle a little wait if the hunger wasn’t bad.
Food matters aside though, the subject matter would somehow boomerang back to the kiss matter from before. It was kind of amusing considering it all, but Rika didn’t really mind, the demon pretty open to anything when it came to subject matters for discussion. He would answer the question posed and it would seem that somehow he had managed to surprise the other once more. Though why the other was surprised with his answer was a bit baffling. He was being honest with the matter, so maybe being so open was the surprising part? He didn’t really know and honestly didn’t think to hard on the matter as he turned the question back to the other out of curiosity.
The answer he got back would make him grin. “Well even if you are a beginner you can’t know if something is going to go right or wrong without giving it a whirl.” He would say the words cheerfully enough not seeming to be bothered by what they may be implying. Maybe the demon wanted things to be left up to the other to figure out perhaps, he simply wasn’t bothered by what was essentially a fact. It was true the other could’ve been a sloppy kisser...a thing Rika wasn’t fond of at all to be honest. The idea of being drooled over literally wasn’t exactly appealing. Anyway, the point here was even if he was a sloppy kisser Rika wouldn’t know until the other actually participated in the kiss too. It was as simple as that.
That aside though the next part heard the demon would let out a light “Hmph” of amusement as his eyes drifted the other narrowed with mischief.
“Aww you decided to space out during that moment and couldn’t get a good read on the situation? Well that is no good. Tsk. Tsk," he would begin his voice playful rather than angry. He understood that what he did might’ve been a bit sudden or unexpected, so he wasn’t too surprised at the answer and it did confirm that he did indeed fluster the other more than he thought. Even understanding this, he could still poke the other a bit here and there for things no? After all, what was the fun in keeping everything so serious all the time. The teasing aside though the demon would settle as they began to make their way up a slope as the path began to bend a little.
In a more serious tone than before, but still light nonetheless the demon’s next words would address the last bit. “Fuzzy, huh? Well what do you think may give you some clarity on the matter?” Slow thinker or not, one couldn’t exactly determine what they are didn’t like on a fuzzy impression could they? However the question was: did the other actually get what he was offering with that question? Ah well in the end it was the taller male’s hands as to where this would go.

Re: Now the game's on
Well, whatever the others' decision would end up being there, it wouldn’t be something he could do a lot about himself. Therefore, unless the guy wanted to keep the talk going further for some reason, he wouldn’t keep trying to press the matter after that last statement. The only thing he could have said would likely end up just being some sort of speculation anyway, and the choice wasn’t his at the end of the day as it was.
Speaking of choices, they sure led the two of them through a rather interesting ride not more than a few moments later. A lot of the answers to what really happened remained unknowns even after it all got more or less resolved for the time being, but seeing as neither of them seemed to want to push the subject once it was done and over with, they would most likely stay that way until the very end. That, or until the same kind of issue happened to get brought up again and forced them to return back to it once again. Would it ever? Both of them could probably only wish that they knew, right?
Apparently, the only thing wishes were willing to bring was food however. And imaginary food, nonetheless. Unlike the other though, he wasn’t really thinking much about how often it happened to come up and all that. Many things were spoken about repeatedly after all, even though they maybe didn’t stand out as much as this one. Not that he was sure why was food special enough to be noticed more. Destiny? ‘’I don’t think I’d die. Whatever works once we’re done here though, I suppose.’’ He couldn’t really predict how would he feel about food once they would be about to leave this place. He didn’t even know how long would they be here after all. It didn’t seem to be an issue for the moment, at the very least. He would huff slightly. ‘’I probably eat less than you in general, so I feel like you’d nearly always have to deal with that in some way. Though, maybe I’m just not that great of a company for food-based outings.’’ Well, for a bit maybe, but unless there was more than just a bunch of consumables on the menu, it could get a little awkward here and there. Of course, he could focus on food at times, but it typically didn’t last him very long, and he wouldn’t starve himself on purpose just to make sure he’d be interested enough once the right moment came.
Food or no food, time for more interesting conversation. Yay? Well, hopefully they would remain interesting instead of turning into another fiasco of the day. They sure didn’t need that to happen right now. Regardless, yes, he was mildly surprised there, but he did have his reasons for that. While he hadn’t expected the demon to want to run away from the questioning in general, he did have to at least wonder as to what stance would the guy take towards the matter after the way it went just a while ago. Some people would probably not want to jump into the same thing headfirst again after having dealt with a rather awkward fail of sorts minutes ago. So perhaps he just didn’t expect the guy to be as forward as that still, as if nothing had really happened before. Of course, he wasn’t a huge fan of dancing around a subject, and he wouldn’t say he would actually want something like that to happen, but he wouldn’t really have been able to blame the guy for choosing that route, had it gone that way.
Which was more or less also the reason as to why he wasn’t going to take the bite so easily. He was aware what Rika was poking at there, or at least what appeared to be the case, but it wasn’t his intention to push the matter. He had gone out of his way to ask at first, but this was something he pretty much put into the ‘will deal with when/if it actually happens’ box, rather than having it remain on the front of his mind. Besides, he would rather see whether the guy was willing to try going that way again. If he was the one to start things, he wouldn’t know for sure whether the demon was really interested in going there or just content to joke about it and not necessarily aiming to have it happen for real.
‘’No I can’t.’’, he would blink. ‘’That is exactly why I said it couldn’t be guaranteed that it would have been better though, you know?’’, he would toss it right back at the other, sort of deflecting the intention for the moment. His tone was somewhat amused though, therefore it seemed that he did know what the demon was trying to do, even if he wasn’t choosing to swallow the hook offered. That aside, it wasn’t like he didn’t have a point as well, seeing as he had definitely pretty much pointed towards the same thing with his own words before this, just from a slightly different angle.
…and someone was in a really jokey mood today, apparently. Well, he had no idea where that would go at all, but two could play that game if need be. ‘’Ah, that is certainly a shame. Maybe consider being more thorough next time around?’’ And maybe less out of the blue too, for the added effect. That could solve the problem on hand quite easily, or at the very least make it much less of a deal. Probably. It was a guessing game one way or another in the end. At the final poke though, he would just concede to rolling his eyes slightly in pretend-annoyance. To be honest, it would likely be impossible to miss the point there even if he was deaf. Although despite that, he still couldn’t know whether the guy was completely serious or trying to keep up with the jokes still.

Re: Now the game's on
It was nice. Not having someone nag too much or press too far with a matter as personal as his anxiety issue was. He had opened up the floor for it to be discussed yes, but he was very glad that in the end while the other did make suggestions, he didn’t push them to the point where they became stressors for the demon. Had he got lucky? Maybe. Or perhaps the other understood where he was coming from in the end. He wasn’t really sure of the true reasoning behind the guy letting it go, but he was just happy it was done for now….besides this was kind of suppose to be a nice moment, ja? Not a therapy session.
In any case this small moment of a little awkwardness would shift into a territory of strangeness that the demon most certainly did not expect to end up where it did. In fact when it all began he had wondered if a blow or something bad may happen as the air around them became a bit confusing to read, but through some unexplained force nothing bad happened and somehow the pair agreed to not push matters deeper without saying anything as they took to the calmer act of walking along the path hand-in-hand.
Their conversation seemed to go to something somewhat normal - food. Though why food was the thing that they came back to at the end of the day was a mystery, but at least it was something to talk for a bit.
“That would make us very sad,” the demon would say giving the other a mock pout about the mention of the other dying, but then becoming more or less serious again the demon would go on. “Cool though. we’ll deal with finding something when that time comes then,” the demon would say quite fine this more or less okay to get food later. Besides he wasn’t starving yet and if the other was good at holding out like he said earlier then Rika figured hanging out a for a few hours here would be just fine. “I admit I do like to eat and have a pretty regular pattern as far as when I eat, so if you hang around enough you’ll probably end up catching me stuffing my face.” He would chuckle lightly at that, but in time continue. “Luckily for you food is not the main focus for me all the time or has to be involved in everything done. So perhaps the issue of watching me eat won’t come up as much. Still it be nice to cook a dinner or something for ya here and there or go to a restaurant,” then blinking he would look over at the other curiously. “Would you like that?”
Well that matter aside, it seemed that things would get more interesting as the topic changed to the kissing sort of fail ordeal. It was true Rika could indeed be forward, letting certain things roll off of him better than others. Did this mean he swept what occurred back there under the rug? No he remembered clearly and took notes on what went wrong and looked for ways to make that better should it come up again. Even so, he didn’t see a reason to become embarrassed by the situation or uneasy. Stuff like that had the tendency to make the already awkward matter even worse, so the demon chose to flow with what happen instead. Thus his stance on the matter was quite relaxed and open. Perhaps it was an unusual approach, but who said he had to go along with the norm?
Speaking of the norm wasn’t this one being Mr. Smooth? Rika took note that as he spoke and teased the other, the guy decided to play the part of Mr. Oblivious; however, Rika was no fool from the way the other responded back he wondered if the guy was actually testing him in some way by not just trying to go for it himself. It was an interesting play that kept the field entertaining. Now then.
“True, true,” the demon would begin calmly not seeming to hurt by the other’s parry of what he was implying for the time being. He could hear the amusement within the other’s voice and in turn found his light smirk remaining as it was confirmed without words that that the other was indeed testing him in some way. To some this might of annoyed, but for the demon? Hehe. He liked play and making him work for what he wanted only made the game more fun. And would look at that? The other did indeed know how to play.
“More thorough huh?” he would say as his eyes narrowed with the grin given. “I can work on that and approach too. Can’t have you spacing out all the time. Break my heart you know?” he would say sticking out his tongue remaining playful still as they kept up the path. It seemed he wasn’t going to make it easy to tell what his motive was. Even when asked the question at the end, the demon would give a light amused snort at the question, but surprisingly didn’t answer as the area before them widened a bit revealing a small area of open space that eventually dropped off. Over the drop of was a gorgeous view of the clear skies and the trees below, but even more fascinating then that was the array of colorful lights that swarmed around in the air feeling the place with a gentle hum as they darted about not seeming to mind the pair that had come. They were little spirits, but Rika knew unless someone was dumb and pissed them off, these nature spirits wouldn’t bother them too much. Sure they might drift near, but outside of curious glances they were safe from disturbance.
Set back away from the edge a bit was black iron bench that despite being out in the open was well cared for and clean. Taking a moment to observe the view, the demon was quiet for a few seconds as he paused by the bench not sitting for the time being. However, with a slow blink he would shift in his spot his hand slipping out of the others as he moved so that he was before the other. There was a smirk on his face as he looked up at the other with clear red eyes.
“Sure, I can give you a helping hand,” the demon would say his voice more amused than playful this time around. Then stepping forward, he would close the gap between himself and the other. His hands would lift to gently grasp onto the upper part of the guy’s clothing as he tip-toed a bit. He would pull slightly on the on the other’s clothing a sign he wanted him to bend a bit to make it easier, but even if he didn’t the demon’s lips would find their way to the others as he gave him a gentle kiss before pulling back a bit, but staying within easy range to be kissed back. "Is that enough of a hint?" he would ask in a whisper. His eyes were sleepy like, but at the same time he was highly aware of what was happening. He was just letting himself be in the moment. Unlike before his intention and desire was quite clear. He had started the process so it was up to the other to let him know if he wanted to continue or not. Either way the ball was in Sharaku’s court now.
Re: Now the game's on
Well, the food talk had really come at random, had it not? The only reason it began was because he casually mentioned a picnic when they spoke of possibly sitting down somewhere. It hadn’t been his intention to shift the talk to eating on purpose, but somehow the subject got stuck on that instead of staying where it originally started, and they ended up talking about what they did instead of mulling over the whole sitting/walking business which started it. ‘’Note taken.’’, he would comment rather simply after a short moment of thought, seemingly not trying to further lengthen the talk on that particular topic unless it became a necessity to do so. He wasn’t feeling hungry just yet, but if they kept yapping about food too long, his mind would probably attempt to convince him to in fact want something. Which would just defeat the whole point of the ‘later’ they were trying to establish right now. There was no need to willingly risk something that could be avoided, right? Though, he would still answer the question posed with a nonchalant shrug. ‘’Perhaps, if the timing was sufficient enough. Can you cook well?’’ Well, no one would want possibly spoiled food, right? Then again, if the demon was an amateur, he likely wouldn’t have mentioned it, but hearing a little bit of detail there still sounded nice.
What happened next appeared to surprisingly flow quite nicely as well, despite the high chance for a misstep being there by base. Not that he was complaining about it of course, since he definitely wasn’t looking forward to any more problems for the day. That wasn’t what they came here for, and it better not become so. Would prove to be rather disappointing if they ended up struggling with petty issues more than any sort of enjoyment. In spite of that, he still had enough reason to at least wonder as to how the demon was viewing the situation, with how roughly it had gone past only recently. He wasn’t trying to be paranoid, no, but one can never know what someone is thinking in their head after all. Not that he was making it his main focus anyway. It was really just something to keep in mind as an interesting ‘what if’.
Speaking of happenstances, Rika didn’t seem to mind his attempts at deflecting the ‘point’ around. Which could be either good or bad, depending on the reasons behind it. However, he wouldn’t spend too much time trying to figure out which one it was, simply going along with the current direction of the situation for the time being. For as long as it went smoothly enough, there was likely nothing to truly worry about. When the demon more or less just agreed with his statement, he would tilt his head lightly, but say nothing in return. Can’t exactly rebuke that. Nor did he have anything extra to say on the spot. When the next response came in however, he would give the guy a somewhat amused hum. ‘’Better stock up on repair kits then. I consider the space my second home.’’ Well, he was kind of joking there, but also not. There was no denying that he could space out a lot at times, for whatever reasons. He did try to not do that during important matters most of the time, but the stars don’t always align the way you’d wish them to, do they? Ah well.
When he didn’t get any verbal answer to his following inquiry, he would raise an eyebrow at first, almost tempted to ask some more. Luckily for the demon though, the new scenery did serve to distract him for a while, and so he would put the questioning on hold for a moment in favor of observing the colorful stuff in the air. Not for long apparently, as they were suddenly coming to a stop somewhere, which made him shift his attention back to Rika once he realized they weren’t walking further anymore. ‘’?’’ He would adopt a momentary questioning look when he noted where they were and the fact that the other didn’t seem to be showing an interest in sitting down or such. Once again though, it wouldn’t last him for more than a brief moment, as he would very soon have to deal with facing the guy instead. So much distraction happening. He would do his best to focus on what mattered the most at the moment though, blinking as the other’s hands grabbed onto his clothes. Well, he was still trying to process the sudden shift in action at that exact moment in time, but luckily for the other he did what the guy wanted him to, kind of just reacting to the pulling without thinking. Hmmmm. Another blink. This was making him wonder what it’d be like if he was the shorter one and didn’t need to bend over…Wait, no. Bad brain. He really needed to stop letting it go all the places it shouldn’t instead of focusing on what was happening right in front. Ironically enough, this time it wasn’t even due to excessive overload of stuff, but simply his mind trolling him. Sigh. Why was that even a thing? There needed to be a clear, easy to find off button for unwanted thoughts, that was for sure. After all, the demon would probably end up getting pretty exasperated if he couldn’t really pull through this time either. He didn’t want that to happen for no plausible reason. He needed to focus, like, right now.
The corner of his lips would twitch slightly thanks to his mini-mental war, although he would register the question the other was posing, giving a low ‘hmph’ as he started down at the guy. For a few brief moments, he would kind of just hover over Rika, as if he was debating his next move. Which was more or less a useless endeavor in this situation, and he was even kind of aware of that, but habits apparently die hard. Sometimes it could take considerable effort for him to be solely focused on what was happening in the moment, instead of his mind running around with ideas of what could be before it even was. He tried though. As well as he could. Besides, he had been the one implying that the demon ought to make some sort of move, so it would be rather lame if he didn’t pull his own part once it happened.
Alright…
After mentally telling his thoughts to fuck off (or at least making a valiant attempt to), he would finally shift to move slightly, one of his arms loosely wrapping around the shorter’s shoulders, resting his hand coming to rest against the nape of the guy’s neck, the other just kind of hovering around the demon’s waist for the time being. Well, he thought he had an idea of what he was doing, so hopefully it would go well enough. Not that fussing about it would help him any. At the very least, he was doing decently well at ignoring the slightly awkward feeling. Ah well. Perhaps that would get better once he got used to doing this, since he would suspect it was more or less just a result of not having any solid experience to rely on. Whatever man. Closing his eyes, he would tip his head down a bit to close the slight distance between them. Unlike the other, he was at least slightly hesitant with what he was doing, and perhaps even a little bit clumsy for the first few moments. Not really in an unpleasant way though, since he did know ‘what’ to do. It was just a matter of getting into it, and he was a pretty fast learner anyway, so it wouldn’t pose a huge deal at all. Regardless, where that would end up heading from there would depend on how the demon chose to react to that….

Re: Now the game's on
Was random really bad? While it wasn’t the best of topics, the food did give them something to chat about as they walked and it was an opportunity (at least in Rika’s opinion) to expand and get to know more about each other; however, it appeared the other didn’t want to take the talk much further, his short answer getting a light nod before the demon was falling silent for the moment. Did he mind it? Not really and besides it wasn’t like his own mind couldn’t keep him occupied as it decided to drift to things here and there that kept him entertained internally, but not so distracted that he wasn’t in the present or aware of what was happening.
As the other shrugged and spoke, the demon would look over at him and let out a light hum. “Well, I guess I’ll just have to see if I get lucky there,” he would say and then hearing the question, he look away taking a moment to think on that one. Could he cook well? "Well, it depends on your definition of “well”. I can eat my own cooking and I’ve seen others eat before too, so I would say I ain’t half bad,” he would say not really trying to make a big deal of his skills. Yes, he could cook and typically when he cooked for others they enjoyed it. Did that mean he cooked well? Perhaps and perhaps not. It would depend on the person eating said food.
That aside though, the rest of what occurred would go by more or less smoothly, the demon deciding to pick and choose his battles. Did this mean they wouldn’t ever buttheads? No. That had been proven earlier, but even so that didn’t have to be a constant in this equation. Stuff did come up and while it was true at first this whole ordeal was a bit shaky and stressful, the moment it became more peaceful, the demon worked on letting the bad go and just enjoy the present moment. So one could say that the demon was enjoying himself for now and keeping bad things under lock and key unless of course they came to the front again. He didn’t find it worth being bitter and moody over little things, so he let it roll off of him and kept moving forward. It was just how he was most of the time.
Quiet thoughts would shift to odd play, the demon keeping his motives behind why he did what he did a mystery. It was true that he could’ve fought back against the deflect, but instead he had taken a different approach and simply agreed with the statement instead. Perhaps this worried the other for he did tilt his head at him; however, the demon would only look up at him and give him a smile in turn. A smile that did nothing to satisfy curiosity. Perhaps it would take prying if the other wanted to know something more. Though as long as silence remained the demon wouldn’t make an effort to speak on the matter. Maybe this was okay, ya?
While the demon remained quiet during that part, when the other made his comment in response to heartbreak, the demon would respond back. “Aw man. Now I gotta budget in repair and the cost of keeping you grounded too?” he would say in mock distress as he simply played along. “Jeez, I guess I thought to soon when I thought you’d be low maintenance.” He would grin at the end showing that he was playing and not really too upset...though he had to wonder. If the other did space out a lot would that be a problem in the long run?
The demon tried not to dig into that question at the moment for it would probably take him far off track if he were to follow it now and that would be no good. In any case, following this there would come a silence as the demon choose to postpone answering the question posed which in turn got the other curious, but thankfully circumstance worked in his favor since the area they were in was actually quite a distraction until they stopped and the other looked over at him. It was true that Rika didn’t sit down immediately, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t be guided or ask to do so. Though the seating matter would be a far off problem soon enough as Rika started the kiss. While at first Rika had to wonder if the other was actually focus on this task (the guy did look confused before hand), he pushed the worry aside as the other bent to meet him and when it was all said and done, the demon would watch the other before him taking in the hmph the over gave to his question.
However, the demon didn’t mind it as he took to staring back calmly at the other waiting to see what he do as he stayed close by for a moment seeming unsure what to do. Even so the demon didn’t mock him as he gave him time to figure it out. He didn’t mind waiting as long as the other actually did something. If he were to back away well that would be disappointing, but the demon wouldn’t hold it against him too much. After all, he had no idea what this was doing to the other’s mind. Even less so after the last rather unfavorable end result. Still he thought he got it right this time. At least it wasn’t out of the blue….unless someone failed to notice the hints leading up to this that is. Anyway….
In time the other would indeed move and the demon would let his body react naturally. As the other’s arm wrapped around his shoulders and his hand came to rest upon the nape of his neck, his head would tilt upward in a gentle fashion as he watched the other with sleepy like eyes. He took of the hand at his waist, but he didn’t seem to mind that or the less than smooth process as the other did his best at a try. As the other came towards him, he would move only a slight bit to meet him near the end, his eyes closing as their lips connected.
Not pulling away just yet, his hands that had been resting on the other’s chest would shift gently to wrap around the other, one arm and hand resting sort of on the upper back area while the other shift downward and rested near the waist as the demon pressed into the other gently. The motions were gentle and designed not to destroy the moment, though with the this being the other’s first time, one had to wonder how he would react to that.
Regardless it seemed despite being unsure, the other had at least did something right for the demon to not be complaining about the handling. Either that or Rika choose to ignore to make it less awkward. Who knew?

Re: Now the game's on
Was that so? Eh, an answer is an answer, he’d guess. ‘’If you say so.’’ He didn’t have much else to offer there, and going too far, such as asking the guy for exact recipes and whatnot he could make was not on his agenda. Why would they even want to talk about that in the first place anyway? They weren’t in a ‘cooking skills’ corner’ show or anything like that, and as interesting as talking about them can be, it’s not always super fitting of the situation at hand.
Speaking of situations, those were as ever changing as always. Regardless of the occasional struggles coming up for them though, he wouldn’t say he had been feeling extra stressed before. Well, right in the middle of those problematic patches, anyone would, but if he were to speak in general terms, then it wasn’t too bad. He was definitely capable of getting grumpy for a long while, but that took a person who truly didn’t know how to chill out, or just plain stop being aggravating way too often. Technically speaking, the closest real example at this point would probably have been the blonde from before. It hadn’t been that bad at the beginning, but the guy had certainly managed to kill his mood nearly permanently once things started to tumble downwards fast.
The exchange which soon began would float away pretty quickly as neither of them made the move to pursue it further there. Yes, he could have gone out of his way to ask, or straight out just push the guy to say why he was doing that, but was there any need to? He didn’t think not knowing would kill him right there and then. Were that to become an imminent danger for some reason, then he would inquire further, but for the time being, it was probably for the best for them to move on further with the conversation. They weren’t even really changing the subject much anyway. ‘’I would say that I am most of the time. Maybe you just break too easily. You sure you’re not behind on maintenance check ups?’’, he would shove back with a somewhat amused look. Would it be his fault if the guy broke over his spacing out so much? While the actions were related, he would not really be doing anything to actively cause that result. Either way, he didn’t think he was that bad. He sure could space out a lot at times, but it typically wasn’t damaging to things around him in a huge manner. Besides, it did in a way imply him being lower maintenance, simply because the guy wouldn’t have to entertain him 24/7 if he spent some of the time floating about on his own. In fact, he was probably the highest maintenance when he was actually paying attention to what was happening, and actively assessing what was going on. Because he would be faster to act on something that didn’t sit too well, rather than if he only took a passive approach, thinking about it. In which case, he would likely leave it at that, and maybe even decide to not bother with it beyond said wandering thoughts. Of course, there were always exceptions to the rule, but still.
Moving onto colorful lit up places and sudden silences though, the situation sure took a sharp turn around there. Well, it was to be expected in a way, due to their talks prior to that, but it couldn’t be denied that it all went down pretty quickly nevertheless. That said, yes, he was a little confused here and there, but it was mostly just in his efforts to keep up with the sudden shifting in actions. Not really because he didn’t even expect something like that. As far as focus went, he was on and off for a moment, but it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. He was definitely paying more attention than he had the last time, that much was confirmed.
The execution was a little awkward still though, and it wasn’t really only because he hadn’t done this before. That was a factor of its own indeed, but it was something he could get over fast enough after getting the moment to test it out. The more pressing issue was technically something else at that point. Yes, they were doing this, and it wasn’t bad. However, he really wasn’t sure where to go with it. Forwardness and all that aside, this was still only the first date, and he had next to no idea as to what was the limit there. They had joked around and whatnot over chat before, but despite that, he sincerely doubted the demon would truly want to do those things right away if he was genuinely interested in him. Taking big leaps can easily mess things up. All in all, it brought in the question as to how far it was okay to go with this? It may sound easy on first thought, but there are plenty ways to go about with kissing, ranging from very simple and all the way down to the really bold moves. Well, perhaps he was just thinking about it too much (even though he wasn’t really, since it was more of an automatic feeling there), but he wouldn’t want to step somewhere he shouldn’t. He wasn’t sure how far people normally went this early anyway, so he didn’t even have anything to compare to.
It was an odd state of affairs. And strangely enough, he was kind of more worried about that than the whole ‘first time’ issue. That one was there, but ultimately, everyone has to go through that anyway, and he didn’t think he sucked that much to begin with. There were people who could still be lame even after having it done many times already. Point aside, he didn’t protest against Rika’s moves at first, letting it be that way for a while. Things wouldn’t last too long however, since the whole matter was kind of managing to unnerve him in a way he didn’t like at all. If the goal was having him fully focus and not wander around in his own personal clouds, this just wouldn’t do. Not for as long as there was something he could worry about, whether consciously or not. While he wouldn’t step away or push the demon from him, letting them stand as close as they were and all, he would opt to straighten up a little bit, breaking the kiss for the moment.
Hopefully the other wouldn’t mind the interruption too badly, but maybe it would be for the better to make things clear between them, instead of letting random awkwardness creep around in favor of not stopping. Not that this wasn’t awkward in itself, but what can one do? He would give the guy a half-apologetic, half-sheepish look once he opened his eyes to focus on the guy.
Well, maybe he was just easily confused. But he was simply having a hard time finding the line there. The other wasn’t really helping it either. While he could argue that the guy was trying to stick to light and gentle in attempts to make him comfortable with this, there was still the question of whether the aim was really just that, or if the guy wanted to stick to only that level regardless of any other factor involved. He’d rather know, to be honest. It wasn’t that he couldn’t bring himself to be more confident and just try things to find out how they fair, but taking that path wouldn’t help him relax any. Not knowing what you can and can’t do can turn out to be pretty stressful in certain circumstances. Combining that with his initial lack of experience and all the other factors that were currently present, it didn’t exactly make for the most comfortable train of thought.
And so, that was that. He just had to hope that the demon would be honest with him there. While he could come off as mildly hesitant here and there, it didn’t mean he was also afraid of doing things at the end of the day. Therefore, he wouldn’t want the guy to hold back and say less than he really wanted just to make sure he wouldn’t be weirding him out. Well….he kind of doubted the guy would want to like, go as far as having sex on the first date and stuff of that nature, but if for some reason that were the case, he’d prefer to know anyway…
Re: Now the game's on
The demon would give a light hum to the short response given in regards to the food. With nothing to go off and the other not really showing interest in going any further with the matter, the demon wouldn’t try and force the subject to stay around. There was no point and it would make the situation less fun if something was forced. Besides it would’ve probably become boring anyway since typically if one wasn’t interested in something, they would not exactly make an effort to interact in a manner that showed pleasure. So leaving that where it was for now, the demon would flow with other matters that came up.
Matters that would go up and down with time, but in the end settle into peace. By base, he was pretty easy to get along with. It was true Rika could be stubborn, crabby, and a flat out ass at times, but most of the time he sought to resolve things the only thing getting him in huge trouble during such times being his anxiety and negative thoughts which could make him more emotional than he wished to be. However, if the right approach was taken with him then even these rough patches could be navigated through. Something that seemed to somewhat work back when the snags and anxiety ran high before this peace came.
Sure it was still uncertain where this would go or even if the pair could make it past this, but at least the fact that they had made it to this point without too much headbutting meant that perhaps there was some hope for the situation. After all he didn’t think the way thing had turned was just some random stroke of luck. There had been some work to keep the peace, not a ton, but enough as both seemed to somewhat understand when they were going too far. Did that keep them safe from going overboard at some point or time? Nope, but still at least it showed they were willing to make things work somehow.
Speaking of picking up things, perhaps the other was pondering to hard on Rika’s motives behind his play. On one hand one could say he had a motive behind it and just wouldn’t say, but in reality, he had just chosen to take a different approach to the matter is all. If he came off mysterious or confusing because of it, well that was just the side effect of the approach. He wasn’t being malicious with the actions or play, so what was there to worry about? Nothing unless the other made a big deal about his behavior being a problem, which thankfully he didn’t. In any case, there would be a period of silence as they walked, but soon it would be broken by small jokes as they poked at each other’s traits a bit through jokes.
“Oho is that so?” the demon would say seeming to enjoy this odd way of exchange information as his expression remained playful and relaxed. Then hearing the jab, he would scratches head as he gave the other a sheepish look. “I dunno. Been a while since I’ve tried looking for the card that tells me when I should do a check. Though, I think I hold up alright without one. I'm not that fragile.”
Sure he could be a bit demanding when it came to paying attention and perhaps at times a bit more sensitive to things than need be, but outside of that the guy honestly wasn’t going to literally become a drama queen over the other simply being himself. So the other zoned out and such? Well that was alright...as long as it didn’t get to the point where it was so bad that he couldn’t pay attention at all or focus on what was important.
...Let’s pray that did not ever occur.
Rolling along to new locations, silences, and somewhat awkward moments then. While the other was busy thinking about the situation, Rika was on the other end of the spectrum. It was true that he did pick up on hesitation and how the other was a bit awkward in the kissing matter; however, the guy wasn’t half bad. He didn’t hurt him or be overly sloppy with the kiss. In fact it was quite nice. Sure it could use some improvement mainly working on making it smooth and natrual, but hey it was the guy’s first time ya? So he could give him a pass for that. Outside of that, the demon kept himself in the moment, any outside distractions or thoughts of what they had talked about before this even occurred was far from his mind. He was quite content to be honest and any action perform was just a natural move for the demon to make, his body kind of knowing from experience what to do in this situation. He was pretty focused on the moment, so when the other ended the kiss a bit later and it would take a moment for the demon to recover and re-direct his focus.
He wouldn’t move from his spot or release the other though he gave them space enough to talk while remaining close. His red eyes would looked at him a bit dazed for a moment when they reopened. He would register slightly that something was wrong, his eyebrows furrowing slightly as he became curious as to what was up. However, before he could ask anything, the other would speak.
Uh….
The demon’s eyebrows furrowed a bit more as he blinked a bit. It wasn’t that he was displeased with the question, it was just he was unprepared to answer such a thing. Even less so, when coming off of that kiss. And so the tables would be flipped as the demon looked off to the side for a moment to collect his thoughts before looking back up at the other.
Surprisingly there was a sleepy smile on his face as he looked up at the other his expression gentle rather than upset that a moment was ruined due to this. Perhaps he was just accepting this was just how the other was and in turn was cool with it.
“Well, I honestly wasn’t thinking that far ahead. I was just taking it one step at time like I always do with most things in life. Though you honestly don’t have to be too worried about crossing lines. I don’t really have set rules on what goes and what doesn’t go in a situation. Though I prefer not to go jumping off the cliff too soon for various reason. I like to take my time to explore and learn about the other. At this level I am not expecting much outside of what has happened here. Talking to get to know each other better, hand holding, kissing, and figuring out what works and doesn’t work for us both without going overboard and getting ourselves in a tangle we may regret if things go somewhere we don’t want it to go. I recognize that our experience levels with this kind of thing are like night and day. I know what I like and what I want, so I would say it is safe for you to experiment with what you do with me to figure out what makes me tick. Trust me, if I don’t like it, I’d let you know in a pretty clear manner. On the flip side, I am a hands on sort of guy. I can be touchy and cuddly and such, but don’t be afraid to back me up if I am coming onto you a bit too strong. I don’t want you to be uncomfortable, so don’t be afraid to guide or show me what you what want from me in turn. If you have boundaries you don’t want to cross just yet or certain rules, let me know. I am moving at a pace that works for you too after all. I am in no rush and honestly, that kiss was two fold. On one hand, I really wanted to do it and wanted you to kiss me back...and your words and jest were implying you wanted to try again too. On the other hand, I wanted to give you that experience, so I did.”
The demon spoke in calm tones showing that he wasn’t bothered by the interruption. He was actually glad for it to be honest. He didn’t want the guy carrying around worry and not speaking up on the matter. That could lead to trouble fast. On top of that he suppose it was good to be on the same page too. Yes this was a first date and unlike some that might try to get in the bed with another the first round, Rika was actually more slow paced and careful when it came to being truly interested in someone.
Sure he may kiss, hug, or hold their hand if the other was fine with that sort of thing, but honestly he worked on getting to know a person and then when he and the other were comfortable and certain they could make it work more or less. Then he would move to the next level - which was more intimate and may even involve sex. However, that step was typically a bit further down the line and never expected on a first date. The other honestly didn’t have to worry at all. Though Rika did wonder if what he said made sense….
