The Calm After the Storm
After the date turned failed, Sharaku wouldn’t hear anything from Rika for a good while. The demon walling himself off with work and going to an actual therapist. The first one was a no, but the second round he got lucky and found a lady he actually clicked with and come to find out was actually a demon herself with a similar situation - her partner was of the same sex. The big difference was she got along with her partner rather well while Rika did not; however, after chatting with her both about himself and the issues he was having, the therapist and he both agreed that 1) yes he needed to take a damn chill pill, 2) He needed to change his way of thinking and 3) if he really loved the guy he inflicted so much pain then he should not give up no matter how hard it was. She told him if he just kept at it on all fronts things would work out. So it gave the demon some hope. The therapist gave him some tools to use to tackle his own issues and also advised that he should try talking to his partner again. She said it was hard after blow outs, but if he wanted things to get better he had to stop running and face the problem head on.
The words stung a bit, but he heard them and after a week of work both physically due to his job and mentally. He finally did the one thing he hadn’t been able to do since he struck the other - He’d actually reach out to him, but not via message over the net. No this time, he picked up the phone and after some hesitation, he pushed the button to call him. Question was would he pick up at 11:00 in the morning on weekend day?

Re: The Calm After the Storm
Oh, he was definitely around at that time. He had been up since like half past 5 as a matter of fact, since he had a chunk of stuff to sort out and deal with in general. Outside of that though, he had of course noted the lack of activity from the other, but while it could be questionable, he kind of figured that the guy might want some time away after what had happened last time. He himself was more or less chill about it, but considering what he knew about the demon and how the guy tended to take things....well, this wasn't all that surprising. Thus, he had been fine with leaving the guy be for a while. Sure, he would probably have poked eventually, just to make sure everything was okay and he wasn't actually missing something big, but outside of that...ah well?
That said, when the other chose to call him, he wouldn't respond immediately, leaving the guy waiting on the line for about 45 seconds for whatever reason. Nevertheless, he would pick it up eventually. ''Yes?''

Re: The Calm After the Storm
He'd let the phone ring, listening to the sound from the other end a little nervous. He wasn't exactly sure what he wanted to say to the other, but he had to say something. It had been a week after all and the last thing he wanted was for the other to think he something bad had happened to or of him from not saying anything period.
He'd let the phone ring a good while and was on the edge of hanging up when the other's voice crossed the line.
"Oh, hey there. It's been a while. How's it going?" he would begin his voice steady enough for the time being though inward

''More or less same as always. Outside of taking care of some things and all, I live.'' Well, that was no lie.

"That's good to hear. So like are those things going to keep you tied up all day or will you have some spare time later?"
Re: The Calm After the Storm
''Well, I guess that dep-Oomph...'', there would be a minor pause there, and if the other had good hearing, he could probably pick out something that sounded akin to a snake hiss in the background there, ''...*cough* So as I was saying, I suppose that depends on what you have in mind. I might, but I can't tell for sure without an idea of what's up.''

Re: The Calm After the Storm
The demon would listen at first calm, but then curious as the other suddenly cut off and a veer peculiar sound caught his ears. Did the other have an unexpected visitor or was that a pet? Well just before he could try and figure that out, the other would come back coughing?
"First off are you okay? Not to be noisy, but it sounded like you ha some form of company with you," he would begin and then giving that a moment he would continue. "Well.... I didn't have anything in mind per se. Just wanted to see if you wanted to come over and I don't know hang for a bit? I...would like to see ya. Been kind of missing you to be honest," he would say as Andromeda came out of the room and with a light meow jumped up on the table to come across to the table to rub her head against him. Naturally the demon moved the phone away a bit, but depending on the other he might've heard a slight purr from the other end; however, whether it was cat or demon was another matter. Either way he was listening despite the cat being cute and all.

''I'm obviously dying. But no, I'm fine. And I guess company is what you could call it.'' Company which was currently trying its hardest to make this phone call hard for him. He was managing for now though. ''Hmmm.'', he would be quiet for a moment, thinking about it. ''That's a hard one....on second thought, I was going to try that anyway....'', he seemed to be half-muttering to himself there for a second, before coming up with a clearer answer. Well, sorta. ''I mean, I suppose I could. Though I assume you plan to have me stay for a longer while so....would you mind an extra guest on top of that?'' Considering the current circumstances, that was his best bet anyhow.

"Dying? Just what the hell is happening over there?" the demon would ask his tone more amused than actually mad or overly worried. Seriously though what was going on over there and why was his voice sounding a bit far away.
The demon would blink a bit. "Hm you were? And well...yes. It would kind of suck for you to come all this way only for an hour later for you to go back home. As for guests...may I ask what sort of guest you are bringing with you?" He was very curious as he petted Andromeda who had settled on the table before him flicking her tail and purring.

''I'm being assaulted, that's what.'' He seemed to be in a more or less laid-back mood despite the 'complaining' of sorts though. ''You needn't worry though. For now.'' As long as he could hold his phone and speak, all would be well.
''I...that would take long to explain over phone. Anyway, try to guess. It's furry and has four legs. What do you think it is?'' Yeah, that would be a long convo if he tried to clear up about what he meant about 'trying something'. Well, not necessarily by itself, but it would require some overall explanation for the other to understand well.

"Assualted eh? Seems like you are having quite the eventful time over there." Well at least it didn't seem like the words were pulling guilt up for the demon so far good. "Well alright. Just let me know if you need back up." He was teasing though he suppose if he did need to get there quickly he could try and figure out where he put that teleportation spell. Anyway that aside, the demon remained chill enough as the conversation continued.
"Oho would it now? Well I suppose that answer can wait then. As for your questi--Ack!" There was a brief moment of a struggle from the other end and something about "my collar" before with a huff the demon would come back. "Sorry about that hun. Anyway, I was going to say maybe a cat considering I heard hissing earlier and last I checked snakes dun have fur or legs." A entertaining image, but no.

Re: The Calm After the Storm
''More like heavy.'' And in the way. Oh well though. ''Anyway, your generosity is appreciated, but I think I'm capable enough to handle it alone.'' Well, at least he seemed amused by the idea if nothing else.
As for what happened next...well, he wouldn't hear much of it since he pulled he phone a bit away from his ear at that initial sound as it almost made his eardrums hurt. He didn't expect that one. ''You sure you're not about to get killed first? In any case, of course there are snakes with legs. Never seen one?'' He would pause for a second before continuing. ''On a serious note though, maybe so.''

Re: The Calm After the Storm
"Heavy huh?" That was a bit odd. Did he mean that as in what was assualting him or the time he was actually having. Yeah that was a bit confusing; however, the demon would let it slid for now as he found himself smiling a bit at that one as he let out an amused chuckle. "Oh alright then. I guess I'll leave it to ya then." Well he had tried and at least the guy sounded amused so that was an accomplishment there.
That aside though the demon would chuckle a bit at the next question. "Well I almost got choked to death by my kid, but that is nothing new. Guess she really wanted the bell on my collar and so went for it. It is a bit sad to lose a bell, but meh. I got replacements." The demon would say as he placed his elbow on the table and leaned his head against his hand as he watched the cat play with the bell she had managed to nab. Thank goodness the collar was made out of sturdy material. He'd be quite heart broken if the cat took it out.
"Anyway, not in on this side I haven't. Though if you see one that resides on this side of the realm let us know. I am sure it would be interesting to study." Demons were the only odd balls as far as animals were concerned. There might be something out there that bent the rules, but alas it was nothing this old demon had heard of or seen yet. That aside..."Oho. Sharaku has a baby kitty now? And if so when did you get one? Also is that what you are bringing with you?"

Re: The Calm After the Storm
''Definitely.'' And yes, he meant the 'what'. What did heavy time even mean anyhow? That wouldn't sound right to him regardless. He would have said hard time if he wanted to express concern over that. With that out of the way though...
''Why do you wear that anyway?'' He would usually imagine a collar with a bell...well on a cat. Not on a person. It wasn't even much of a fashion statement either, plus bells could be noisy in the wrong circumstances. Unless it was one that couldn't make a sound, but still. Kind of strange. ''You like snakes?'' An actual snake with legs could be quite dangerous. It would be able to chase much easier, and he'd bet no one wanted to get bitten by a snake. They had pretty nasty fangs. Most of them at least.
That aside, he would laugh faintly at the following questions. ''I think that if you two faced each other, you'd want to evaluate the 'baby kitty' label. Also, a couple days ago more or less. I kind of lost track. And yes. I don't think I can leave him alone at my place for too long just yet. I don't want anything to get damaged, so it would certainly be preferable to have a tag along if you want me to stick for longer.'' Well, they were pretty ok as it was, but he still didn't really want to risk leaving him on his own at his place forever this early after getting him. It could be a bit tricky. For reasons.

Re: The Calm After the Storm
"Poor guy, but I am sure you can handle it," demon would chuckle understanding that maybe heavy wasn't being used for a bad time per se, but the actual weight of something. Now that made him even more curious as to what the other had bought. "Hm? Ah the collar. Well, that is a rather long story tied to my past, but perhaps being face to face would make it easier vs the phone." Well at least he wasn't mopy and hesitant this time so perhaps this was good. As for snakes. "Mmm. Well we don't exactly hate them, but then again it depends on what type of snake we are talking about. Let's just say we are neutral towards them most of the time, but I am not afraid of them if they come into my territory either. How about you?" The reptile family was a strange one to him, them being as tricky as insects and spiders. Sometimes they were fine and sometimes they were not. Most of the time he didn't worry too much about the normal ones, but the demonic ones? Well those were another story entirely. After all with those you had more than fangs to worry about.
That aside the demon would hear a laugh from the other side. To what was heard, the demon would smirk as an amused 'hmph' crossed the line. "What did you get a tiger or something? In any case, I am quite curious as to the story behind why you have a cat now and also meet it, so when you want you and your fur baby can come over. Just text me or something to let me know you are on your way."

Re: The Calm After the Storm
''I meant the bell more than the collar, but sure either way.'' Then again, collars were somewhat unusual too...but at the very least, it wasn't an odd thing to see people wearing stuff around their necks like that. It was just the choice of decoration that was a little out there. ''As long as they aren't poisonous, I'm fine.'' Snakes didn't particularly bother him, but he sure wouldn't want to risk it much with something that could potentially try to kill him on whim. Sure there were antidotes, but he kind of doubted it was that easy to just get one's hands on one fast enough.
''Uh, as much as I'd love to, I think tigers grow too big for that. Anyway, I'm fine with any time. You were the one calling me, so I thought you had an idea of when?'' It wasn't like he was too picky about that one. And they could just say the time now so he didn't have to try poking the guy later without knowing whether he was paying attention to his phone and texts, no?

Re: The Calm After the Storm
The demon would chuckle softly at the response given. “Ah that. Well I do like my charms and bells I am particular fond of, but so is my kid.” The demon would watch as Andromeda chased the little bell around batting with her paws and making it very tempting to join the fun; however, he could not do that on the phone, so he took to watching her with an amusement smile as his tail swished lightly off to the side of his chair. “Very nice.” Was the simple response the other would get back in response to the snake topics and that was pretty much it for that. There was honestly not much else to add unless they were going to go into some deep conversation about them which from the comment given the demon didn’t think was what the other wanted.
Not that it mattered much since there were more amusing topics to draw his attention elsewhere. “Heh. Makes me wonder if they were allowed and you had the space would you actually have one,” the demon was mused and then focusing on the rest of what was said, he would hum as he leaned back a little to look up at the clock.
“I hardly ever have an exact time when I know I am going to be home doing nothing much so you can come over now or even at 12:00. I am honestly working with your schedule since you are the one that has things to do.” Vague yes, but hey he wasn’t going anywhere and unless he was in the bathroom or something there would be no reason he would not hear his phone. Still he suppose setting something up now was easier to do than playing tag anyway.

Re: The Calm After the Storm
''I wasn't exactly looking for an 'I like them' response. I'm sure plenty people could say that, but I doubt nearly any of them wear such things on them.'' Well, he has never seen someone wear a bell just yet. And he didn't think that somehow nobody liked that stuff. 'Like' is a very vague response. You can like something, but that's not necessarily always a sufficient enough reason for whatever action that involves it. For some stuff, yes, but not for everything.
''..........probably not. It's not a good idea, and it would be more work than worth. Besides, how would I even keep feeding such a big animal?'' A tiger could probably eat a lot, and it would need some good fresh meat. Caring for it would cost way too much for comfort. Just to be able to say that you have an unusual pet, seeing as a large wildcat is not much of a playmate, and more an animal you'd have to be careful around. At that point, it's not quite worth it unless you're trying to start a zoo or something.
Anyway...''Your examples are hardly much apart. Either way, I have no issue with now, but I can't say when exactly will I get there. Why do you ask for a text anyway? Assuming you're staying home, I can just knock on the door, right?'' The guy would already know he was going to come sooner or later, so what was the point of an extra warning? It wasn't like he needed some special preparations done for him or whatever.

Re: The Calm After the Storm
"Heh. Well that is true. It would depend upon the person and how comfortably they'd be wearing that or any other form of tag or charm around their necks. Still is really hard to believe that someone would sport them out of their like for them?" True his style wasn't normal, but he was pretty sure he wasn't the only odd ball out there that liked to sport various charms or a bell around his neck for whatever reason. Granted there was a deeper reason to why he wore his so proudly, but even so that was way too long of a story for a phone conversation...unless the other truly wanted to chat that long on the matter now.
Well wherever that went, the subject would eventually drift to tigers. "They are quite the challenge both for natural and financial reasons. And I don't know. I would think only a millionaire or someone like that could actually pay the money needed to care for such a creature." He most certainly knew he couldn't care for one and even if he could, he wasn't exactly looking for exotic pets so they were probably at the bottom of the list somewhere for him. Still the thought was amusing nonetheless.
"No they aren't but that is because my schedule is open and that is fine. I'll be around when you do show up. As for text, well I suppose you could do that, but it could take me a while depending on what state I am in. At least with a warning I would be more presentable for answering the door right away." So he liked a bit of a heads up. Was that really a bad thing when he knew some his habits could trip up random visits?

Re: The Calm After the Storm
''Well, people do wear necklaces and the like, yes. I've just never seen anyone wear a bell specifically. That's something I'd sooner imagine a cat having on its collar.'' Assuming it was an actual bell, and not just a bland imitation tag or such. It was just an oddly specific thing, that was all. It wasn't like he was against stuff on the neck, even though he kind of didn't own any himself. It wasn't really a thought on the front of his mind.
''It's not necessarily a smart thing to do anyway. That's not the type of cat that really belongs in captivity. Unless there's a good reason for it.'' Maybe some smaller wildcats could be more or less fine as pets if cared for well, but something big such as a tiger or lion? That was kind of just unfair for the animal. To be kept in a restricted space only because someone wanted to have a rare pet to show off. He was fine with exotic pets and technically what he had now was part that, but there was some limit to the notion, obviously.
Eh? ''...uh, what, you need to style your hair and put on make up before letting me in? I would have expected that since you went and called me over, you would already be prepared for the visit. What if I now told you I'd be over within a couple minutes? Would you panic and start running around because you aren't even ready?'' He was a little bit confused there. The guy was making a deal out of it as if he needed to decorate his place before opening the door. Like, if it was just a minute or two of waiting, he didn't really give a damn...so? Besides, what if he one day stopped by without a warning? Would the demon flip a lid because of that?

Re: The Calm After the Storm
“Maybe I am part cat in some way and don’t realize because it is one of my favorites outside of fangs of course,” the demon would muse, but then becoming a bit more serious he would continue. “Either way they are pretty special to me whether they make sounds or not, so there is that factor to.” Yes the bells he wore were actual bells. Small mostly quiet ones out in public, but a bell nonetheless. He liked to flip between those and colored fangs to decorate his collar. They were as to see on him as feather or a flower in his hair. He just liked those sorts of things and wasn’t afraid to show them either when the situation was appropriate. Accessories preferences and sentiments aside though, let’s talk big cats for a bit yes?
“Mmm. I can agree there. They are much better off in their natural environments.” As was anything to be honest. Exotic pets while nice were often best when allowed to roam free. For no matter how man tried, he could not tame a wild heart. Perhaps break it...which led to a fate much worse than death. Yeah. Let’s not start reflecting too hard on that. In either case, the demon remained calm about the whole matter as he continued to talk.
“Well I have to be lovely don’t I. Can’t go scaring ya with my natural self,” the demon would say amused at that idea. Make up was fun, but unless he needed it for some odd reason, no he would not be wearing it at all. Maybe chap stick, but that was because he much rather have smooth lips versus bloody or rough ones. “Seriously though I wouldn’t panic since putting on clothes ain’t that hard, so no big deal. Not that I mind a surprise visit. I just like a bit of a curtsy ring is all.” Besides what if he happened to be sick or sleep? What then? There were various reasons to give a ring or text first. Even so, it was nothing mandatory. Just a preference. And well if the other did visit him out of the blue it would indeed be startling, but full out wig out because of it? Not really. Sure he’d have a bit of an issue if the house was a war zone, but what do you do turn the guest away? No. No. They’d just have to deal with it is all. Just as he’d have to deal with turning in a grave internally for a bit out of embarrassment. Ah, the little things in life.

Re: The Calm After the Storm
Well, he just kind of didn't care much for such things. Or at the very least, had to good reason to. He could wear something assuming he got his hands on it for some unknown reason, but he likely wouldn't go out of his way to buy himself such accessories. They didn't seem all too important. He was fine with just sticking to earrings as decoration for the most part. It took less time to be simple anyway.
In any case, he wasn't going to try arguing that matter forever so moving on for now. ''Most of them, yes.'' It depended. He wouldn't say it was impossible to tame a wild animal. Some yes, but that was hardly a rule. If man couldn't, domestic cats and dogs wouldn't even exist. They definitely didn't just spawn in people's homes one day. Someone had to tame wild felines/canines for that. Then again, guess it can take decades to tame a species...but still, certain animals were more susceptible to such and could live with people quite nicely, while some were best left alone.
''Implying you're not wearing anything? That said, it's not like I care unless you make me wait at the door for like ten minutes or more. I don't think you plan to be taking that long, which is why I kind of find a warning pointless when you already know I'll be coming beforehand anyway. So it's hardly a surprise visit here.'' Or maybe just...don't go doing the stuff you'd need to correct when you know you'll have a guest soon and you won't be in need of a warning text at all? That aside, well, if the guy was sleeping or such....there would be the question of whether said text would get noticed or so. It wasn't a foolproof solution anyhow.

Re: The Calm After the Storm
Well the issues of accessories died and so the demon didn't do much to try and continue that one as he let the usual silence that seemed to crop everywhere with them come. This silence would continue on onto the animal talk, the demon giving a light "mhmm" to at least show he was paying attention even if he didn't add onto it. There was nothing else to say honestly and even if it were they probably would both agree on some animals being tamable and some not being so. So in the end the conversation might've been bound to die off anyway unless something wonderfully interesting came up to keep them going...and for the moment it seems that that was not the case.
"Maybe," the demon would say leaving that up to the other to interpreting anyway he liked before continuing. "If you are waiting that long then that means I am probably not home. Most of the time I hear things pretty well. In a way you are right, but I still like them beforehand especially if you are like oh I'll be there random o'clock which is fine, but I kind want to be there to answer the door too ya know. A heads up let's us know if we should do something or just wait. There are benefits to the matter, but it also a preference. You can gamble and try knocking on the door to surprise us. though can't guarantee what the outcome of that will be. And no a surprise isn't a surprise when known."
Foolproof or not, the messages did have a place at least within the fox's logic. So even if it was useless to another or nonsensical even it worked for him in a fashion and so he used it.

Re: The Calm After the Storm
''You really make me wonder what kind of inappropriate stuff you even do when you're already expecting company. And technically, you're the one insisting on the 'come whenever you feel like it', not me.'' After all, normal everyday things shouldn't be a problem, right? If you know someone's going to come that day, don't start things you know you might just end up having to abandon in the middle? It's not that hard considering it's only one day that's on the line there.

Re: The Calm After the Storm
"Mmm. Wouldn't you like to know," the demon would tease. "But seriously it fine regardless of whatever I am doing. If I am in the house and ain't budging to go anywhere, it is literally fine to come over whenever. It is not like I am doing something so out of bounds I couldn't handle a guest invite or even a random drop in." No it wasn't, but come on couldn't this one take a little bit of a tease versus taking what he said so seriously all the time? The mystery of things.
